MLB average per team in last few years is roughly between 2.5-4 per 9.

If I would be you, try to play maybe a 10 games sample being less agressive on strikes and don’t be afraid to walk a few guys per game.

I find sometimes when I give up a homerun it is on a 3-2 count and instead of aiming that fastball higher up like my Catcher calls for, I don't want to issue a walk so I aim a tad lower. Well, that ends up being too low and crushed lol. You are correct. More walks will lower the CPU homeruns.

        Re: S & B’s MLB 2024 Simulation Sliders

Anybody else seeing too high averages when simming? I simmed to today's date and have ~30 players hitting over .300 as of today's date. In the actual MLB there is 12. Is this as simple as turning down the CPU contact a tick when simming?

EDIT: I just tried resimming with CPU contact down to 4 and there's still 26 players hitting above .300. In the actual MLB the highest team avg is .263 - I have 9 teams that are hitting at least .262. I'm using Cycloniac's Truesim roster if this helps.

Have you tried using his sim sliders when you sim? Does that make it better? I'm on the assumption that CPU contact doesn't make a difference when you sim. But something like stamina could affect batting averages to some degree. If the pitchers are losing stamina but the hook is low they won't pull them and they get hammered.

Yup, just tried his sliders as well:

            Contact @ 5: 24 players above .300
            Contact @ 3: 13 players above .300
            Contact @ 2: 26 players above .300

I agree about the contact slider not mattering based on the above. I've also only simmed to today's date so there's a chance that it averages out over the course of a full season. Not sure its worth losing sleep over - it's much easier to pretend offense is up across the league like every other sport in today's age.

I agree. We really only worry about the complete games by the starters. Maybe by the end of the year it would all even out.

Just out of curiosity, are you going by a minimum AB with those 24, 13, and 26 players? Are they all starters with over 200 AB?

After +1000 hours of Madden where I had my own sliders thread I looked at MLBTS and said F it and deleted my test franchises and decided to just play the game!

On July 1 of my real franchise there’s 19 players who have a batting average above .300 - and most are in the .300-.310 range. I looked via the league leaders list so I’m assuming its all players who are qualified based on their number of ABs.

These are still working good for us. Had to raise foul frequency because they screwed up the foul ball
Issue causing the strikeouts to come back.

I am using version 3 of these sliders. They still play well but the CPU is striking out a lot. You mentioned you raised the foul frequency. What did you raise foul frequency to and are there any other changes to sliders. Thanks

We raised it to 10 but we aren’t sure if it works as intended. I still see strikeouts but now it’s like they foul off a bunch before the strikeouts. Wondering if we had less foul balls if they woukd be fair instead. It is like the fouls are extending their AB for a strikeout if that makes sense.

Now we are back to every pitcher is the same. You are going to get 1 K at least per inning don’t matter if he’s low K/9 or high K/9.

                        Doing some testing.

Is there a way to lower the CPU chase rate? They are around 50% or more in many of my games

Bumping up CPU contact helps. I just tried 10 and only gave up 7 K. Lowest in 13 games for me since patch.

Ya bumping contact to 10 is a must to avoid the k’s, but even at 10 they chase more than they should
