I am definitely down. Like I said, my brother and I would be happy to play in a league together. We could start a signup thread if you'd like. We could even head on over to our brothers over at Front Office Football Center to recruit some GM's because I know a number of them have been playing the game as well. But the thing is, I don't know much about running a league as a commissioner. I'd be more than happy to help newbies get accustomed to the game as I understand that it does have a pretty steep learning curve.

Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***
Hi Fellas,
I have been thinking about getting this game but am just wondering if it will work on my crappy pc ( here are the specs, if you can call it that, lol )
AMD Athlon 64
2.19 Ghz
2.5 GB of RAM
200 GB HD
I only use this pc for web browsing and playing older video games. I use my laptop for work and Ipad for watching movies.
Just was curious if OOTP 15 would run ok. I still have OOTP 12 and it runs fine
Thanks for any helpComment

Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***
16 is the version #, not an abbreviation of the year. Next year will be the 16th version of the game.
I know, it's confusing since so many sports games use the year in their names. Our hockey game, FHM 2014, does, and our upcoming NFL game, Beyond the Sideline Football, will too, but we'll stick with version #s for OOTP for now.
Oh, and the iOS version, iOOTP Baseball, uses the year, so next year's version will be iOOTP 2015.
I plan to get the next installment - OOTP16...even though the entire season is in 2015 (I never quite understood that for OOTP).
I previously purchased OOTP13, but barely played 1/4 of a season. My question is how realistic are CPU GMs and trading? Being buyers/sellers at the trade deadline, evaluating prospect packages, etc?Comment

Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***
Have you tried changing the trading difficulty?
I honestly think the trading could be better. It's not too bad when you are proposing a trade but you rarely, if ever see a good CPU offer. They usually offer you crap for your best player.
Also CPU-CPU trades are kind of disappointing as well. I have never seen a huge blockbuster like you see in real life. They are all just average trades.
I really love this game (I'm still playing OOTP 14) but if anything needs to get fixed it would be the trading aspect. It's not bad but it could be a lot better.Comment

Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***
Does trading difficulty determine how easy CPU clubs accept your offers or how well-thought their offers are to you or both?
Also, does there ever appear to be CPU teams that go in full buyer/seller mode? Or full rebuild mode? etc. Do CPU teams have actual GMs/owners w/ their own respective logic (kinda ala Football Manager)?San Francisco 49ers

I think the difficulty does determine how easy you can get players from another team. On average difficulty, I could get Giancarlo Stanton fairly easily from the Marlins, so now I play on very hard difficulty. I wish is were programmed like you said, where the CPU offers more thought out deals.
For your second question, yes cpu teams do go into different modes, like rebuilding, etc. Some do make some questionable things based on what mode they are in, but overall I think they do what they do based off of whatever situation they are in.
Also, I have never played Football Manager (although I would like to try it out) so I'm not sure how the GM logic and owner logic works in that game. The owners in OOTP have two characteristics, one shows how patient they are, and one shows their willingness to spend on the team (or lack there of). I haven't seen any of these types of characteristics for the individual GM's.Comment

But anyway, so in FM, if a CPU club got a new rich owner or a new rich partnership/deal of some sort, they'd spend a little bit more over the next few years. Or, if CPU ownership saw they were losing $$, they would spend less. Some CPU clubs would be super stingy when negotiating a player purchase, others fairly easy, all depending on where that club stood economically, competitively, or even just the ownership group's tradition, etc. Even your own owner would overwrite some of your transaction choices (though this was very rare, but in one case, a CPU club kept offering me a high sum of $ for a player, but I kept rejecting the offers, wanting to keep the player. Finally after like the 4th offer, my owner accepted the offer for me...causing me to lose a player I wanted to keep!).San Francisco 49ers

well, I'll preface first by saying UEFA soccer economics is obviously different than MLB economics.

Wow, that sounds really in depth and cool. OOTP owners aren't that in depth but I think this economics and stuff in this game is pretty good.
I may have to give FM a shot soon. It sounds awesomeComment

Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***
The news that OOTP 16 is going to have the full MLB licence is a game changer for me. May well pre order it, can't wait. The ability to just be a manager is also awesome!

Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***
not really a game changer for me as all this was doable in prior OOTP games. I prefer my leagues to be of the fictional type when it comes to OOTPComment

Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***
I personally don't play much in the way of MLB games, but I think it's likely very good news for the company.Comment

Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***
It actually reminds me to ask, are there scouting mods/applications for OOTP? Does it even need one or is the in-game scouting pretty in-depth and accurate?
For FM, there's a 3rd-party program that comes out every year that allows you to search the game's database of players/coaches and see all of their hidden potential ratings (rather than just the in-games 5-star system - which can be inaccurate due to bad scouts or curved based on your team - the tool shows you the exact attribute rating the player is at currently and has the potential to reach), value to the team their on (in case you try to buy them), etc.
Is there any 3rd-party tool like that for OOTP to find those diamonds in the rough in A/AA or when drafting?
yeah I only have played 1 version of OOTP and I was greatly relieved to see there was a fake-but-real MLB option. If memory serves me right, even the minors had the real players, correct? Either way, I assume they probably will w/ the MLB license (even though I know MiLB is just affiliate-based, not necessarily part of the MLB brand).San Francisco 49ers

Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***
I am thinking about starting a fictional league and simming ahead a few years to get a bit of history and then take over the worse franchise. Sometimes I want to start a league and do the draft. This is why I never get anything going on OOTP, can never figure out what to do!Comment

Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***
Do you use quickstart leagues out there or create your own? If you use fictional leagues already created, which one?

Created our own simmed ahead about 20 years and started league here
