4-8 road trip leaves us 16-19 on the season.

how do you guys go about starting OOTP ?? i'm finding it all a bit daunting TBH....where to start!! i'm from the UK with a limited knowledge of how everything works. do you guys manage each and every game ??

I do sometimes.

OOTP can be played as hands-on or hands-off as you want.

You can quick sim and just get the results or you can manage each game.

Or maybe you want to sim to an important game and just play that one.

You can choose to just be the manager or just the general manager or be both.

I also know some people who don't actually take control of a team. They just sim results just to watch history change.

One thing I have done in the past is not choose a team to start the game but then take an offered job later. Usually this job will be a minor league job. International teams will offer you jobs as well if you choose this route.

Taking a minor league job is a great way to learn how to manage without having to worry about roster moves and contracts.

There is really no right or wrong way to play OOTP.

Checking in with my 1972 Texas Rangers. We are now in last, as we were expected to be.

Oakland is the disappointment of the year as we start June. Real-life Oakland won the World Series. OOTP Oakland is 5 games below .500. 11 games behind best team in baseball, the White Sox.

One of my favorite ways to spend time is to make a fictional league and just watch history unfold. Maybe I'll sit in and watch the world series games play out pitch by pitch occasionally but to me the fun is seeing the stories tell themselves like the time in OOTP 17 where one of my first Hall of Famers was inducted with 100% of the vote in 1891. I didn't follow his career closely until I saw the HOF ballot but man he definitely was head and shoulders above the rest of players.

To get going, there's always quickstarts if you just want to jump right in and you can always disable your getting fired if you want to be able to make mistakes and get messy to learn.

As someone who has become more, and more tired of The Show neglecting in game AI management, and having to do 30 team control to get the league to operate in realistic parameters, I am curious about OOTP.

I have a HP Pavilion x360 Intel 1.3 so I am not sure if that is even enough computer to run this? But, if it is, it sounds like OOTP is everything I have dreamed of from a smart, organic AI sense both on the diamond, and in the front office.

So, is it really head over heels better than the show in terms of AI's Ability to make smart logic baseball decisions both on and off the field? Also, do all 30 teams act different? Like the Rays, and As always looking to ship guys out for prospects before FA, and the Sox and Dodgers opening up the checkbook?
