In case you guys have seen the 2018 Uniform Project in the mods section, just letting you guys know im still working on it. Just a little burned out right now to be honest. Once 19 drops I'll be working on it more heavily though. Regardless, its not dead and it wont die.

I'm finally jumping into OOTP this year. I used to play Strat-O-Matic and Diamond Mind Baseball religiously as a kid. I still have binders full of printed out box-scores and stats lol. I bought OOTP 11 around 2014 just to check it out, but didnt do a lot with it other than be amazed at the depth and play a few games. Been wanting a current one to jump into and finally pulled the trigger this year. I don't really care about on-screen animations so I may just stick with the normal text. I have a feeling I'm going to be a bit overwhelmed with learning where to focus my attention in the game at first. I can't wait to get it!

Yeah, but it's more of a "kid on Christmas morning" type of overwhelmed than a true feeling of being overwhelmed. Probably will take you a version to get the hang of it. It's that deep/customizable. That you've dabbled in OOTP 11 should help a bit though.

I just pre ordered this from the OOTP website so I can dive in tomorrow for the early release. Has anyone ordered directly from them or do you guys go through Steam?

Quick question fellas..

1st year buying OOTP and my question is if I pre-order so I can get early access, does that "final beta" version you have access to until the 22nd the actual game? Can you use the save in the "final beta" for the regular version that drops on the 22nd?

"Absolutely, sir. It's the same game everyone is getting on the 22nd. We just get it early because of pre order"

It states you'll receive a link for a download on the 22nd, so doesn't necessarily make sense it's the same game. But it also could be that I don't understand how the process works. I just don't want to sink in a bunch of hours before release if all that is going to get washed away.

From OOTP Site Forum:

"Pre-ordering gives you the beta version of the game on March 19th rather than March 22nd. Updates will be posted as they come available throughout the development cycle. Markus and the team are extremely responsive in this area. You download the updates from this site when they're available rather than having your game auto-updated as Steam does. If you have a good to very good internet connection it should be a snap."


So it seems (First time getting game since '11 version so I'm just as blind with this as you) the game release on the 22nd may have some updates already applied that you can apply to the "beta" to keep going.

I wont be near ready to start for real anyways for a while so the time between Mon day and the 22nd will be just taking game through paces and getting a feel for all the menus etc..

It's the same game, you get the download link on the 19th and enter your license key to activate the game. On the 22nd, they usually do a minor update (like bugs found by users during the beta period. Sometimes they release updates during the beta period), so you just download that again and it updates the game to the newest version and your saved file will still be there.

Did a quick sim to get through the rest of the 2017 season with the Cubs and they lost in the divisional round to the Mets. It was the Twins losing to the Dodgers in the World Series. Cubs also lost John Lester for a year due to a torn flexor tendon.

Edit: Cubs were sold and the Yankees were sold as well.

With a lot of uncertainty surrounding the two "alternative" baseball titles as we near The Show's release (one on release date, the other on content), I decided to go for OOTP first this time instead of waiting for the Steam Sale as I usually do.

Should be getting my pre-order beta code along with the rest of you today.

Don't know if they'll still work with '19 but it didn't take long to download ..
Player Faces from '47, '82 and '96
Also grabbed a few Card templates and stadiums.

Basically just scratching the itch a bit lol

I just bit the bullet and preordered it. Waiting for the email with the link for the beta.
Edit: Because I preordered today, does that mean I don't get the benefit of having the beta sent to me? In other words, did I have to preorder before today to get the early release?
