This is 4.99 right now on their website. Gonna purchase. Played a little bit a few years ago, but I’m all on 2020.

Any mods or downloads out there that anyone can recommend.

A true franchise mode experience.

Not sure what you mean by this. The game comes full licensed by the MLB. All teams have minor leagues and major leaguers and logos. Only thing not 100% correct is contracts.

I've never played it--but given my addition to FM, I think this will be right up my alley. I bought it for the $4.99 yesterday to give it a go.

What about player faces? Are they all just generic? Also I've seen some 'blank' player faces, like for prospects...any way around this?

They are generic/generated by the game by default. If there's blank ones for minor leaguers, make sure you're allowing the game to generate them. IIRC, you can tell the game to not bother with generating faces for minors or coaches.


For real photos - you'll have to find them & put them in yourself. I just go with the FaceGen ones.

Agreed. I find the facegens pretty good for most established players. Sure, they are a bit cartoon-y looking, but I don't mind that.

For my top prospects and players I draft, I usually go through a few facegens and change hair/eye color until I have a pretty decent likeness.

Anyone ever run an historical OOTP save where you used, say, the Oakland A's and would only have players that actually played for Oakland on your team? Was thinking about starting up something like that with the Cubbies. The main problem with OOTP is there are just too many interesting scenarios to try out. lol

Yeah, with the Braves you could have a nice little outfield of Dale Murphy/Andruw Jones/Hank Aaron. Or maybe you put Chipper in LF to roll with Eddie Mathews at 3B. Not to mention dropping Spahn and Sain into the Atlanta rotations of the 1990s.

Yeah, with the Braves you could have a nice little outfield of Dale Murphy/Andruw Jones/Hank Aaron. Or maybe you put Chipper in LF to roll with Eddie Mathews at 3B. Not to mention dropping Spahn and Sain into the Atlanta rotations of the 1990s.

Rangers would be fun with ARod, Pudge, Palmeiro, Hamilton, Young, Beltre, Juan, Greer, Al Oliver and Nolan.

I haven't tried this yet, but I imagine it would be about as simple as doing a historical game with random debut enabled. Then manually import any players using their player ID (if you were unhappy with the pool of players that randomly debut at first). With a good deal more micromanagement, you could probably maintain all the other teams has having only "their players." Could be tricky as to where guys with split careers end up.

I almost think it would be more fun including the scrubs (like having Kevin Tapani as my #2 starter on the Cubs...or Twins...lol) and then yearning for Fergie Jenkins or Kerry Wood or Rick Sutcliffe or Greg Maddux to show up in that years' draft class.

Rusty Greer! Yes!

Nolan Ryan would be a great piece to build around for the Mets, Angels, Astros, or Rangers. I think he'd make any of those All-Time teams, lol.

By the way, I watched a documentary last night that asserted a pitch that Nolan Ryan made with the California Angels might be the fastest pitch ever recorded (~108 MPH after doing some math to correct for the original measurement being too close to home plate). Oh yeah, it was in the 9th inning of a complete game, too. Makes me want to watch some old Advil commercials for sure.

Couple questions as I learn this "OOTP World" (color me overwhelmed, lol)...

1) Is there Y2Y saves, like in MLB The Show?

2) When playing a 'normal' (see: realistic) save, do you guys load up other leagues? What would be the pros/cons to doing that? Just, a larger player database? Does having vs not having these leagues affect the international players draft?
