Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***
anyone experiencing an abundance of homeruns when playing? My pitching staff has been hammered through the first 8 games, givng up 3 home runs/game. Not sure if it's just bad luck or there is some tuning that needs to happen.Comment

Avoid the new patch if you're doing a fictional league. Seems to be issues with itSupport Local Sports

Still setting up my long-term Brewers save, hoping to get started this weekend or so. Gave every team 1 domestic rookie league team. Added service time and roster limits. A bunch of global settings changes. Etc. Etc.PSN / Xbox GT - BLUEnYELLOW28Comment

Restarted my franchise after the new build since I wasn't very far.
I am once again noticing an absurd number of opposing homeruns when playing. I'm also noticing a difference in how to pitch vs prior years. In the past I would pretty much always just hit "1-Pitch". I'm noticing that "3-Pitch to Cont" seems to yield better results so far for me.Comment

Never done an expansion before, but I'm thinking I want to try that this year. What's the best method for starting a league with a new expansion team?

Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***
30 games into the new franchise that I started a few days ago, and these are the injuries that I've had.
Max Fried - Shoulder injury on his 3rd start (4-5 week)
Charlie Morton - Elbow injury on his 3rd start (4-5 weeks)
Huascar Ynoa - Partially Torn Labrum on his season debut replacing Max Fried (5-6 weeks)
Drew Smyly - Sore Elbow (1-2 weeks)
Josh Tomlin - Strained hamstring on his girst start in replacing Morton in the rotation (2 months)
Marcell Ozuna - Sprained knee (2-3 weeks)
Christian Pache - Separated Shoulder (2 weeks)
Ozzie Albies - Bruised Collarbone (1-2 weeks)
So, 3 guys out of my opening day rotation, 2 of their replacements, 2 of my starting outfielders, and my starting second basemen.
Quite the first month.Comment

Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***
I returned to OOTP (22) baseball after many years playing The Show. I have had an immense amount of fun! As others have said better than I could, the game has so many options, sources of information, and helpful screens. I don't think I will ever go back to The Show, at least until they fix franchise mode.
After playing a TON of games, however, I only have one thing to suggest (which I expect is already in the works) and a question. First, I understand completely that OOTP Baseball is not intended to be graphics-based like The Show. While I do think that the 3-D rendered ballparks are terrific, some improvement to the graphics would push the game over the top! The flat panes of glass that represent the fans and the player movements (the catcher running through five or six of those on a foul ball), to name just a couple, surely could be better without sacrificing the many other comprehensive features of the game. The other is a minor irritant. In all of the games I have played I have yet to see a player miss a diving catch - no matter what their range/fielding ability rating. Maybe there is a way to address that which I am unaware of.
Still, I want to express my thanks to OOTP Development for such an amazing experience!Comment

Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***
I've been buying ootp each of the last several years and I too noticed that players never missed diving catches...until this year. I saw an animation once where the player dove and appeared to catch it, then though the ball pops out. Still has only happened once, but at least it is out there.

Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***
First time buying OOTP and it’s amazing. The control I have over my team, league, and universe is on another level. I really feel a sense of accomplishment managing rosters and winning games. Since everything is simulated, I can’t rely on stick skills and must make the right decisions to be successful. All the options were overwhelming at firsts but after hours playing I’m starting to get use to everything.
One of the many questions I have is with setting a depth chart. Hopefully I can make this many sense. If I set a backup to play LF every 4th game vs LH, will it take 3 games specifically vs LH for him to play the next game vs LH, or will it take 3 games no matter the handiness then he plays the next time I face a LH?

Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***
I believe that the case is that it will be 3 games vs. LHP specifically.
I love this game, but I am starting to get a little annoyed with it.
I was at the trade deadline about a week ago when the game crashed and it corrupted my save file.
I started fresh a few days ago, and yesterday I updated my game to build 42. After a lengthy play session last night I had finished my first season and the game again crashed just before I went to bed, I had last saved mid playoffs. I just tried loading up my save, and it says that it's either corrupt or from an older version of the game. I'm not sure if it was the crash or downloading the new build, but I now have to start my 3rd franchise in a week due to bad save files.Comment
