Re: All Star Baseball... First Impressions & Questions for those with the game

The vacuum effect was a small one and I only saw it once in 2 innings so far....another thing I saw that looked nice was the outfielder came running in for a looping fly and made a routine snap catch on it...lloed good. The ball physics looked improved as well.....foul balls now seem to hook realistically into the seats. Plus I have seen a few more fouls this year than I did last year

One minor gripe is I havent found out any way to view opposing players baserunning speed...There is a man on base and I cannot figure out how to check his speed...I tried even the pause menu too to see if there is a way to view opposing players....Maybe I am missing something but I would have preffered more readily available info on BOTH teams during a game.

I ran a mound visit in the 2nd inning just for the hell of it....cool feature...they tell you the status of the player: Strong followed by a little brief description of his status, " He's mowing them down right now, no reason to consider taking him out, ect..."

Plus you get upcoming batter info in the same mound visit screen

Also the pickoff attempts look good....the throws vary over to 1st and the 1stbasemen actually slaps the tag on the diving runner.

What classic stadiums are included? Is Sportsman's Park in it?

Are there a good number of pre-1960 throwback unis?

          From the interviews...
no sliders, you can edit players at any time, 20 year limit to franchise, on a screenshot I saw, Giambi was a B+, so was Jeter, and there are supposed to be more foul balls

My 3rd attempt at a pickoff throw went by the 1st basemen carombing off the wall and the RF had to come in and grab it...nice touch. Altho this was there last year...its nice to see that this great stuff is still around

Also, and this is a big improvement, On a basehit to center, the cpu player from second scored AND on the throw home from my CF, the hitter advanced to 2nd base ....this is a sign of better heads up baserunning and never happened last year with ASB 2003. Im happy with that

                      This game is sounding good.

Have any of you discovered any glaring bugs or major issues yet?

Or anything else that would prevent this game from being worth purchasing?

Is it like last years where the announcers will say a ball is foul before it lands, taking the suspense out of the down-the-line view?

So far 1 HR...it was crushed down the LF line...it was the same as last year. HR camera angle, Announcer said it was gone as it was halfway in the air....it was a monster shot tho so we'll see about others.

Instant Replay is a nice feature...you can view multiple different angles of a hit and the nice thing is they start the replay footage right at the pitchers release so you can view the entire swing...you can zoom in and out and control spped of replay with the joystick thingie....a welcome addition. However you dont have total free flowing camera freedom but theres a multitude of camera angles which is nice
