My favorites (in no particular order) were ASB04, high heat series, hardball series, MVP 04-05 (my gripe with 05 was I couldn't play a "normal" franchise with owner options. I mean, to play as the Sox in some generic poorly customized stadium with few fans was just weird). I also loved Tony Larussa baseball, tecmo baseball, and bases loaded (the last couple from when I was a kid). The Show 08 is definitely up there and I'm very interested in checking out Pro Yakyu Spirits 5...that game looks amazing!

I bet most in here are too young to remember Earl Weaver for the PC - it was (and in many ways still is) the most amazing piece of development I have ever seen for a baseball game. It could be a joytick game, but it was primarily a management simulator. Either way, the game was amazingly dynamic. *Anything* could happen in that game, you could see the strangest outs just like in real life. You might see a bang-bang-bang triple play with outs happening all over the field. Overthrows, runners trying to take extra bases - and speed and arm strength really mattered. You could build your own ballpark, it could have the wackiest dimensions, and they would seriously affect the game. I remember building a stadium with a centerfield that concaved inward with a sharp point. Well sure enough, outfielders would run into that spike and often injury themselves. Simply amazing. It was just a stunning feat of coding that today's big-house projects rarely strive for.

My favorites in no particular order;

Microleague - I spent a couple of years of my USAF career playing this at work with coworkers (Your Tax Dollars at work!)

Earl Weaver - Waaaay ahead of it's time

The High Heat series (PC) - I thought the one with Sosa on the cover was the best...IT'S SOOO REEEEEAAAALLLLL lol

Front Page Sports Baseball - I still dig it out at least once a year.

Bases Loaded

Hardball III - My personal favorite of the series. I had it for the genesis. I tried and like the pc versions also, but one year was very buggy and virtually unplayable. I forget which, HB5 maybe?

RBI Baseball

One of the TP/Tony Larussa's on the genesis - The first time I saw a pixelated baseball player scratch his nuts...IT'S IN THE GAME. At least that's what it looked like.

And finally MLB 08, which hasn't left my ps3 since I picked it up.

I've tried OOTP, and it looks awesome, but it seemed like too much micromanaging for me, and I just don't have the time these days.

Earl Weaver Baseball was first and foremost a Commodore Amiga game. The MS-DOS version was a poor shadow.

Bases Loaded is from 1988.


For me, it's Bases Loaded. Nothing will come close to the enjoyment I got out of that game.

Earl Weaver Baseball on the Amiga!

Entire game fit on a floppy disk and it had just about everything you could want in a baseball game and it was totally refined for its era!

fantastic gameplay, editing abilities and stats!
