    thanks

You must be playing with a "one pitch mode" roster where pitch counts are generated. When Pudge releases his rosters he has an arcade and one pitch mode, arcade is what you want to be using.

I dont recall much from this game, but I used to hold up, but I'm not sure if it actually did anything.

This game uses zone hitting (9 zones). You try and aim the Lstick or D pad at the zone the ball is coming in to or you can preload a particular zone and if the ball comes in that zone, swing!

Try playing on pro level to start with as it's more forgiving than the higher levels, also adjust the sliders in the game.

Also for your info Pudge has released a new 2010 roster.

This is not an easy game to master.

I never used the zones, just swung the bat, and had no problems with this game.

Good look on the link ! I just got this game and I'm an old school type of guy when it comes to baseball video games. I never played HH 2004 'til now, but it's definately unique !

I just noticed this game actually simulates part of the at bats to get realistic pitch counts. I never seen a game that did that.

One thing I don't completely understand is how to run bases. Can someone help me out with that ?

Nevermind, I just have it on auto now, but damn ! The hitting on MVP difficulty is tough !

Sorry but I'am european and english isn't my first language, so if I understand right, if the ball come hight on my batter, I must push up my directional pad ?

One more question , how preload a zone before pitcher release the ball ?

There are 9 zones in hh zone hitting.

                    1 2 3

                    4 5 6

                    7 8 9

Like that, so if the pitch is coming to what you think is zone 6 you would hold straight over to the left then swing. If a pitch is coming to zone 3 you would hold up and to the right (diagonally) then swing. If you want you can preload a swing by simply holding the Lstick or D pad to a particular zone ,then if the pitch comes in that zone Swing if it doesn't don't swing, i wouldn't do that if you have 2 strikes on your batter though.

If you are using Pudge's "one pitch mode" roster then yes each batter starts with a predetemined count on him, if you use the "arcade" roster then that doesn't happen.

So I think, my better chance to hit a HR is when the pitch is thrown in zone 123 or 456, and I must hold up in my direction pade.

                        does ti's right ?

Ohh, OK, I see. I am using Pudge's special roster.

Just swing without using left pad will result in HRs if timing is really good, but pad movement does add more power if placed right.

One thing you have to remember though is that zone hitting is quite different from other types of system. You might even think it's backwards. For instance, if you want to hit a flyball, you'd press the dpad DOWN and swing, not UP. Here's a diagram:

High strike pitch + Swing High(dpad up) = HR or Line-drive shot toward outfield
High strike pitch + Swng normal(dpad normal) = Either deep flyout or HR, depending on timing
High strike pitch + Swing Low(dpad down) = Either barely hit infield pop-up, or swing and a miss(most likely)

Middle strike + Swing high = Infield groundout or hotshot grounder for a basehit
Middle strike + Swng normal = HR or Linedrive to outfield/infield
Middle strike + Swing Low = HR or outfield hit or deep popup

Low strike + Swing high = Swing and a miss or a lazy short grounder probably to pitcher
Low strike + Swing normal = Linedrive basehit or hard grounder for an out
Low strike + Swing low = HR or Linedrive basehit or linedrive out

Of course this is not all the combinations that happens in the game, because of things like timing and how high or how low the pitch is, wind, etc., but I think you get the gist. You can just think of zone hitting system as how you approach the game in real life. It's the most realistic system at least to me.

Yes it's the best system by far! If you press up on the D pad and the pitch is low your batter will still swing at the top of the strike zone, not like in other games where he will swing at the ball even if you aim incorrectly, i hate that.
