    Re: The Show or 2k?

    2k hands down.
been playing the show for years but its gotten boring beyond belief.
I borrowed the game for a week this week and a few games in, I lost it.
its like the announers are on life support and the game sorely needs a new franny mode and tv style stat overlays.

    YMMV.
if your new to the Show, its the cats pajamas, but if your a lifer, the lines are starting to show.

2k is a breath of fresh air for me, colorful, exciting, fast paced.

I am LOVING it beyond words.
Glitches? oh yea, there sa bunch.
Odd ai? sure thing. but I dont care. i am having fun like I did when I was playing bases loaded.
    and the graphics match! lol

I agree completely. 2K11 is a breath of fresh air compared to The Show. Even though The Show is slicker and more polished in the graphics department, 2K11 is a lot more fun to play.

Hopefully the forthcoming patch will iron out some of the wonkiness in the game, but I really hope next year they make an effort to release a more polished product from the get go. If they can cut down on the glitches/bugs and tighten up the animation I feel they can definitely win over converts from The Show.

I agree with the last two posts. MLB2K11 is a ton of fun and keeps me engaged from the first pitch to the final out. After playing the crap out of the The Show for 3 years, I guess I just needed a change of pace. Both good games, but gameplay wins over graphics for me this season...

I'm not sure if I played the same game as you guys, but I did not like 2K11 at all. And it had nothing to do with the graphics... (they aren't terrible in my opinion. Animations are another story tho.) It's simply not an intelligent game. Gameplay is definitely not better, I think you guys are referring to game control 'mechanics' if anything. In that case, it is more pick up and play friendly. Also, the audio presentation is top notch on 2K11 but that is the only area it shines, IMO.

All in all, the issues I saw took away any fun factor that was there.

MLB 11 offers so much more, again IMO. The realism in crazy at times. The fielding is something to behold, just from the player momentum aspect. There is definitely a learning curve with the new controls, thus making it less pick up and play. One grossly underestimated feature is Sounds of the Show... with the right sounds added, you feel like your right there in the stadium.

Admittedly, I buy The Show every year, but I also try both games since I love baseball. With that, I haven't bought both games since 2007. 2K just hasn't put out a product worthy of my money since then, and I consider myself a very free spender.

Yep, I'd agree with that. Great atmosphere (sound) and I find the controls more responsive and fun in 2K11. They keep me engaged, The Show doesn't.

Glad I'm not the only one who went with 2k over the show this year. I love the show dont get me wrong, but it has gotten stale for me. As a PS3 owner, I initially bought both but felt that 2k and their MLB today feature just did it for me so I just gave it to my cousin since it was his B-Day.

The show is not a bad game by any means. Like most of you who chose 2k this year, it is definitely a breath of fresh air.

                Re: The Show or 2k?

For me thus far it's the Show by a mile. For my money it's the best sports game I have ever played.

I won't say 2k11 is a bad game, but it just doesn't do it for me this year. I can't even finish a game in it. The animations really hamper my enjoyment of the game, as shallow as that sounds.

The good news is, it seems like there's a game for everyone this year, for me personally it's the show..

That being said, I am keeping 2k11 and will probably play some MLB Today games down the road.

Don't get me wrong, 2k is a fun game. But, IMO so is TS + everything else.

                      Is it as bad?

2k has yet to make a franchise mode that isn't riddled with crippling bugs.

Not including this year. I haven't messed with franchise this year.

I am the opposite I want a game that rely on ratings and not my skill. For me the Show is a must have. I love analog controls.

I agree BK. For me the Show has spoiled me. If the show never existed I am sure the graphics and the animations in 2K11 would be fine for me, but because I played the show and how beautiful it looks and plays I am hooked. I try to play 2K11 but I just can't hang with the animation and the graphics. But I am glad a lot of people are enjoying it.

Besides that, the glaring issues of the AI making little league/last gen like decisions, which effect the core fundamentals (or the lack of them) ruins it more for me. Takes the feeling of fundamental baseball right out of it.

Like you said, The Show spoiled us with how realistic it is. Almost scary.
