Ratings should matter in a a game no doubt but they should also be tied into a players skill as well. The show does an especially poor job of separating good fielders from scrubs. That is why my game of choice w/o question is PYS.

have you played this years version? That's certainly not true.

I have no desire to play Japanese baseball.

I disagree TV, but the way they did the throwing you have to have some skill to it. This years fielding is amazing. That pro yak game is solid too, but I have no desire to play that game at all.

No i haven't played this years show only going by what i've read. I wasn't sure about PYS either until i started playing it and with the translation site it's pretty easy to figure out. It is a great game, best i've ever played and i'm not into needing to have mlb players and that stuff just a solid playing game in fact i'd prefer generic players if i had my choice. I'll likely end up giving the show a try at some point.

Where did you read the false information then about The Show?

The fielders ratings on the field were completely gutted and redone, and they took it one step further and have animations tiered to only the best animations go to the elite and the routine and not as flashy to the scrubs.

And the fielders DEFINITELY feel different from one another.

You will want to sub good fielders late in close games. The fielding is night and day this year compared to last. It is stellar!

One of the threads in the show section, can't remember which one but someone mentioned that Uggla could make any play that a gold glover like Cano could make or to that affect. Therefore i assumed fielding was the same as last year minus the analog but i guess that is subjective as to who you talk to.

The first thing I notice was the Dodgers SS (went blank on the name even though) he got to every thing. His range is great in this game. And Torres had great first steps compare to Pat. Also it goes both ways too. The CPU AI is amazing in this game. I have seen the CPU take bad angles. But it has to be a an avarage fielder. I also see a third baseman go to his right and went to far and the ball hit is foot. He then got the ball and air mailed it over the first baseman for an error. It looks so real. Also player have true momentum now. And it looks so real too. This is just an INTENSE AND FUN GAME TO PLAY!!

This is the only game I have ever played in my 32 years of video game playing well I had to pull a bad fielder in the late innings.

I love how not only fielding, but throwing is different too. With the Tigers, I can see a definitive difference between Santiago and Peralta throwing strength/accuracy at SS... like I said before, the player momentum is as real as it gets, like if you jump the wrong way on fly balls, you can really get yourself in trouble. A thing of beauty, I tell you.

I get so nervous when Sandoval throws the ball. When Miguel gets it I feel better. The game is so good in that department. The whole game is so different than last years game it is amazing what they did with this game. People that say this is MLB THE SHOW 10.5. I just don't get that at all. The game just oozes baseball. BK you should Patent that phrase.

The Show's defense has improved, but it is still way behind Pro Yakyu Spirits in my opinion. Let's put it this way. The Show, in 2011, is finally implementing stuff you mentioned (bad range, bad throwing arms, need to replace bad fielders in late innings, etc) that PYS invented years ago so it's gonna take a few more years for them to reach PYS's level.

For example, I also use the Giants in Franchise, I have Pat Burrell in left and he still gets to WAY too many balls. I was both surprised and disappointed the other day when a guy hit this hard laser shot to deep left and somehow Burrell still made the play and he wasn't even close to the ball at the beginning. Still he just snapped into his catch animation and made the catch after running a few steps. In Pro Yakyu Spirits or Power Pro games made even 3 or 4 years ago, a poor fielder with similar rating as Pat Burrell wouldn't even be close to that ball.

Yeah we must be playing a different game, or have a different Pat because mine can't get ****!! Now keep this in mine they are still MLB players. As long as Pat as not getting it every time every body gets lucky once in awhile.
