But here's what you should do...

Match settings: set cut scenes & replays to fewest

Main game Settings: turn off catcher throws back to pitcher.

Some Japanese pitchers have long windups, and you can set it to always pitch from the stretch which also speeds things up.

Regarding your order, keep in mind last year everyone ran out of stock and they didn't have copies for months. It looks like all the official dealers have run out of stock and they are on back order. Play-Asia is saying "ships in 1 week." I'd just get an order in somewhere before it's too late. And is Konami even able to re-supply stock this year?
Thanks for the info. Sounds like there are a TON of options in the game to cut down on the length of gameplay WITHOUT taking away from the game. That's awesome. Do they still have the cut back to the pitcher after the ball hits the cutoff man in 2011? I think I might like that.

I've made up my mind that I'm going to make the purchase, but it doesn't look like anyone has copies except for ebay, and I don't want to mess around with that. I think the shopncnx site says their restock is in 5-7 days so I'll just have to keep my eye on it, and play-asia as well.

Yes, the cut back is the same in 2011 as it was for 2010. Also, I'd just place an order now because they dont charge you until their stock comes in. NCSX is in the states and they dont get alot of PYS orders. They might only re-stock a few at a time so if you order now at least you'll be on the waiting list. Play-Asia probably re-stocks alot more copies than NCSX.

Dang. I'm pretty sure they had copies in stock, but I still haven't gotten any shipping confirmation e-mail. Though my order details page did say that it should ship before or on the 16th. I'm impatient, I guess...

Guess I should get L.A. Noire paid off before then too.

I think I may wait now until one of the stores online has it in stock I guess.

My luck I would order it one place, and another site would have it in stock, after I ordered and waiting for the other. I know I could probably just cancel, but that' s just too much work.

Well you never know.......these stores don't stock up on much....I would get it from one store and go thru the work of cancelling it if another gets it first......I went thru a similar situation when I got PYS 4.....ever since then , I have been pre-ordering when I first see its available

How are the diving plays in the game? Or how about jumping at the wall ?

I tried looking for some highlight videos on youtube, just generally saw the same videos, didn't seem like a whole lot out there. Or maybe I'm just looking good enough.

It's nothing intricate like The Show in terms of spectacular catches linked into throws... There's a diving button, as well as a "lunge" type button where the player reaches for the ball with a little more effort, but not quite a full out dive. You can jump for the ball as well, but I have not seen a wall/climbing catch. In each case, you can totally mess up the timing and the ball can bounce off or pass right past you, complete with a Metal Gear Solid "!" above the fielder's head.

I've seen some cool spinning while throwing as well as some off balanced/wrong foot throw animations. I'm not exactly sure if there's a mechanic for holding a button too long -> errors thing going on.

The diving this year actually depends on how good a defensive player you have and the timing of the play...I have made some spectacular diving plays at 3rd with Imae, whereas with Murata they have been subpar attempts that more times then none ends up with the ball rolling right by.

As for jumping/lunge catches....they have improved the animations as well....but again, player ability and timing come into play.

Wall catches/climbs I don't think have been included this year either.....but realistically walls in Japanese ballparks are very high and it's not common for players to jump/climb them.......

                        .......unless you are "spider-man" Akamatsu... he's the man...check this out;

Honestly the last one, I don't think I'm for a dude climbing the wall then just standing on top of it making a play???...lol.

At least the first highlight the guy scales it and runs the wall up and down quickly without free standing on the top.

They really let that dude stand on top of the wall and make a play?
