The last one that I bought was '12, which I believe was the year that they overhauled the ball physics engine. The improved ball physics that year definitely made the game look and feel better, but it didn't really do anything to make the batting feel different, or less scripted. I tried sticking with it for a few months, but ultimately lost interest. I tried playing '13 a few times in demo kiosks, but felt it didn't really offer anything new.

I'm not really trying to bash The Show. I think it continues to be exactly the kind of baseball game that the developers want it to be, and there are certainly enough fans who agree, and enjoy the way it plays. And I'm sure the PS4 version will bring huge visual improvements, and continue to polish the sim-like gameplay. It's just not for me. I don't like the way it plays.

Hmmm... for my PYS4 season I am currently 22 - 9... which I think is similar to my MLB12 season in which I remember only having 5 loses through the first 30 or so games.

Tried MLB13 again... I still like Pure Analog batting in that game, but I prefer pitching and fielding in PYS. Actually, I like the batting in PYS better too... it is just more conducive to my style of hitting. Ever since MLB '98 all I pretty much do is wait for an inside pitch to turn on and PYS is like built for that type of play style I think... I'm pretty sure I have only ever used the slap hit button once in the game.

I also think I just like the sounds of PYS better... like that is the first thing I noticed when I played MLB13 again... I really missed the sounds of Japanese baseball... the ball of the bat... the crowd... the announcers... stuff like that.

Yah, there are just so many screens I just don't understand what is going on... like meters increasing as I get points after every game and stuff... and sometimes I get missions... and it is so hard for me to remember what Kanji is what since I love keeping track of stats. I just play the baseball game part and pretty much skip over everything else... which I'm sure is bad since one of my guys has had a sad face symbol now for like... ever.

Even an idiot can change his mind. I had put PYS on the shelf until I picked up PYS13 last month. Don't get me wrong I think TS is a great game but I am not a fan of the new hitting timing window at all. Russell said that they were not going to go back to the more difficult window from 12 in the future so I figured I would see what PYS had to offer.

13 is just so much better than any other previous version that if you are on the fence about this series you owe it to yourself to check it out.

The bottom line for me is I can play a game of TS. PYS I can play game after game. Next up 2014.

          Is PYS13 less expensive now?

          I know it's a very solid game - just can't spend $90 on a game.

For anyone looking to buy a solid game this price is definitely not bad. I still play my copy regularly, it has been one of the games I have played the most.
