    Re: Questions for ASB Man

I asked this a couple of pages back, ASB_Man, but it kind've got lost. If you get a chance, I'd love to know the answer. Thanks.

"I don't know if you're still answering questions ASB_Man, but I've got one that I've been wondering about for a couple of years now. Don't know why I didn't think to ask it earlier.

If you use Easy Batting and guess the pitch selection/location before the pitcher throws, does it have any effect on your hitting? I know with cursor hitting it will increase the size of the cursor, but I've never known whether it was for sure making a difference if I guessed right in Easy Batting (which has been great on the upper difficulty level the past couple of years, by the way)."

      Re: Questions for ASB Man

If you use Easy Batting and guess the pitch selection/location before the pitcher throws, does it have any effect on your hitting?
-Yes. If you guess the pitch type correctly you will make better contact. If you guess location correctly you'll have more power.

ASB_man is the game almost finished or is it finished?
      -Can't say

So there is never a point the year that you actually have 40 players on the MLB roster. Not spring training or otherwise.
-You have "40-Man Roster ON or OFF" option in which 40 men can have 'ON'. If you have a minor leaguer 'ON', he can participate in Spring Training. When you go to your set linep/set pitching staff screens, there are 25 slots. You can move these players to/from your lineup/minor league teams at will. We have scheduled double-headers during spring training. You can play the same person in both games if you desire to do so, which is why we are avoiding using the term 'Split Squad'.

Since ASB 2005 is finished what are the top 3 things you wish you included but didn't have time for?
-complete squat removal, all HR specific animations, online tournaments

ASB_man, The Snap throw from the catcher almost ALWAYS caught the opposing team(cpu) nappin'...has this been fixed??
      -Yes

Please.... How about some Manage mode info. Are they still low scoring games, How are the pitch counts, Are there any walks, Has the offense been beefed up ? Are there still 10 pop-outs to every Ground out, and do K's still ave about 10 per team. ? Do runners advance bases this year. ?
-I'll be honest, I didn't spend much time with the Manage only mode. But all the AI improvements do directly apply to manage-only. So runners will advance more realistically, more walks, etc...

I am a sim only guy(complete stat/build a team fanatic) and in last years edition when I would get to June 15th-Draft day I would sim a game and then most times it would ask me to participate in the draft and then lock up right after that-has this been noticed by anyone else and addressed?
      -Fixed

In ASB will Dodger stadium have the flashing strobe lights and music when a Dodger hits a HR ??
      -Nope, I wanted to though

Will Gagne or any closer "Finally" have music when they enter a game this Year ??
-if he is assigned a song

Is there an "auto manager" option this year "HH style".. for people like me that like to play games but don`t always make the right decisions..LOL
-LOL no, what decisions are you having trouble making?

Even though PS2 owners can`t upload custom music....Will the PS2 version still have a large selection of batter walk up music this year..unlike 04 ??
-Same # of songs...we cycle through 4 songs in the frontend this time instead of hearing the same one over and over.

How many seconds do we get for custom music for the batters walk up introduction? 5-10 secs?
-It plays until you hit a button or the pitcher starts his motion, whichever comes first.

Can we assign the songs individually for each batter or we it be random?
-You can assign songs individually. I'm stoked to assign the 'correct' song for each batter/pitcher.

Can we use custom soundtracks for the hr derby or batting practice?
-no, but that's a good idea for next year.

Will there be an option to let the computer control my pitcher on defense? I liked this option last year, thank you.
      -It's the same

are you aiming for the serious sim crowd like HH or is your audience more of an MVP one? I have a feeling its the sim crowd, which I am hoping for.. Thanks again.
      -Sim crowd

I think MVP has a good idea with the swing meter but really didn't mind WSB last year after turning off the aim icons and strike zone outline and just pitching by vibration. Does ASB have that?
-We have vibration if you are outside the strike zone. No kick meters, though.

Does the host get to pick the various pitching, batting, fielding options/cameras or can each player pick what they like best or there only one default for online play? (and if you could - same question for offline head to head as well?)
-The host picks the pitch speed. Individuals pick batting options. All cameras are locked into the default ones for online play. Offline has more flexibility and allows for you to have different cameras, fielding, and batting options.

Are created players allowed to participate in ASB 05's Home Derby (during the season)?
--I don't know...I'll try it and post the result

Hey ASB_MAN, I had a question about create a player. Last year I created a player who ended up winning the MVP award, yet his name was not even mentioned in the Rookie of the Year award category. Any chance this is fixed this year?
-I don't know this either...I'll try it too

I really think there are only two setting. Night and day
      You can play at 1pm, 4pm, 7pm, and 10pm. 7pm has a twilight sky.

Is there any home run music this year for teams other than the Astros?
      -Yes

Do you think there will be sliders in a near future ASB game?
-Can't say, but with online play (with a leaderboard) being a priority this year, sliders weren't really an option.

What are some other ways (than Operation Sports) to let ASB game developers know about our game ideas?
-I think this is working pretty well, don't you?

Ok, let me just make sure I understand this right . If a player if checked on for the 40 man roster, when you edit your lineup for a game, you select that player, even if he is not on the 25 man roster. Is this correct? If so, then basically you can only have 25 guys on the field, but you can swap those on the 40 man roster in and out with fear of losing options and what not.

Is this also true for the later part of the season, or only spring training.

Sorry if I sound really confused by this .

So if you wanted to give Jason Schmidt a day off in Sept. can you send him down to AAA and call up an AAA pitcher who is on the 40 man roster w/o losing Schmidt to waivers?

Poop, I don't think you send him down to AAA. It sounds like you just edit your pitching staff and remove Schmidt from the starting rotation and add one from the 40 man roster. At least that is what I gather from from what he said.

I am a bit confused still myself . Is there going to be a button or something to use someone from the 40 man roster?

If this is how it is, then the 40 man roster thing is not a big deal at all. Was it this way last year? I need to fire up the game LOL.
