Aw man!! They took the video down. Anyways, here's some footage about only playing as a pitcher:

Playing only as a pitcher for the season

Playing only as a second baseman
    second base point of view

This is Pro Yakyuu last year trailer:

With all due respect, If we were playing the Spirits game here in the US, and someone showed us video of the MVP game - or MLB or 2K5 for that - NO, we would NOT be amazed and want it. We would laugh and joke about hwo the game looks.

It's more than a change. The movements, cutscences, graphics and animations are superior. It's where baseball games are SUPPOSED to be visually by now.

But they are not because the game companies make $$$ off us by upgrading a tiny bit here and there ev'year. We can still enjoy the baseball games we have, but (aside from making comments on gameplay, b/c most of us haven't played Konamis' title) they are clearly inferior in appearance to Konami's offering. And if Winning 8 Eleven is any indication of gameplay for this baseball title.....

Hmm I dunno bout other but I naturally assumed you wouldn't have to wathc the game; it would just skip over half inning where you didnt bat, etc.

Also I would play it as a pitcher, so I can't testify for those who would want to play as position players.

I would love to just play at one position. Feels more like being part of a team. I wouldn't mind watching if I wasn't batting or whatever, if it provided that option. I play alot of games with player lock on to get that effect. I was hoping that was what mlb 2006 would let you do in carrer mode but it wasn't. Pretty cool concepts from these games though. Interesting to see what they are playing over there.

The more videos I see of thjis game the better it looks. It looks like a cross between MLB 2k5 and MVP, the good qualities from each.Stellar graphics and sweet animations.

How is Konami different than EA? They're both 3rd party software houses, right? From my understanding of the Take Two - MLB agreement, 3rd party developers such as EA & Konami are not allowed to make baseball using anything licensed by the MLB. They can still make non-MLB games, though. Console makers are still allowed to make MLB licensed games, though, which is very cool for MLB 2006 fans like me .

Here's another Japanese baseball game last year from Namco:
                          Nechu Professional Baseball 2004

Looks like the MLB 2006 of Japanese baseball game, huh?

Wow! Yet another really cool Japanese baseball game!!! I really love the "behind-the-pitcher" view. It actually looks like a TV-style presentation. I thought MLB 2006's BTP view was good this year, but this Nechu game blows it away!!

Not sure if I Iike the pitching meter & cursor, but the in between animations are so life-like. I cannot believe how far behind the MLB game developers are from their Japanese counterparts.

On a side note, an independent council needs to be formed to put together all of the best ideas & features from all of the different baseball past & present, & present them to a software developer to create the best baseball game ever. I really like this year's crop of baseball games, but I always wish that one game could have some features/gameplay/graphics of another added in. Forums like Operation Sports are great & I really hope that game developers are visiting these forums. But, there's only so much time in the day & if there was a focused group of people that could present a concise list of features desired by baseball diehards to a developer, then the developer could spend more time implementing those features. Or, does a group like this already exist?

                          Thanks,

Well, considering Konami's game deals solely with the Japenese league, if they released it in the US, it would not violate any agreements. The Take-Two deal just prohibits use of MLB teams and MLBPA players. Konami's game doesn't use anything licensed by MLB or the MLBPA. So Konami could realease it without any legal barriers.
