    Yeah, same here.

I'm thinking about holding off on it now, especially if the glitches aren't even fixed. Although i don't have a copy of MLB 2k5 so it might be worth it.

Re: MLB 2K5 WS Edition Impressions Thread

      Hey Everyone,
This is from an earlier post I had made over the weekend that could help explain this release.

"Companies in the past when their games have gone to greatest hits or platinum status have fixed bugs in their game upon re-release. I remember

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex

They fixed the extemely long load times, framerate issues, and a few other known bugs for the greatest hits version on the PS2. IGN was the only site that had reported the news initially.

I am looking at this version of MLB2K5: WSE the same as CB:WOC. It gives
2KSports the opportunity to fix the game as if it were being released as part of the Greatest Hits and Platinum lines. Since we know sports games aren't released again under these labels than we just need to treat this game the same way.

I take it as 2K is giving us 2 new modes, 2K Presentation replacing ESPN, Updated Rosters, a MLB DVD, and fixing most of the bugs. I would consider this as a Greatest Hits re-release to fix the problems and update the game."

Thought of a few more questions for everyone to ignore (j/k)

        1. Are fielders getting fatigued?
        2. Night games for West Coast Teams?
        3. Do players still see their breath as if it is cold, in the middle of June?

Question I'm not sure why nobody's asked (unless everyone already knows but me) - Who's doing the pbp and color commentary? I would assume not Miller and Morgan since the affiliation with ESPN is gone (not to mention 2k5's commentary referencing ESPN constantly). Actually, without ESPN how can they even call it K-Zone?

It doesn't make any difference to me anyway....I might get this depending on if some of the franchise bugs are fixed (I heard the passed ball one is, at least).

I heard Miller and Morgan still since they still have ESPN under contract until 12/31. VC wanted to totally ditch the license since EA took it from under their feet after MLB2K5 back in Feb which was the last VC game to use the ESPN license since it was near completion. They don't want to promote the license that they are going to lose in 2006.

They just took out all of the ESPN logos and replaced with 2KSports.

That's true....but like I said there's going to be a whole bunch of ESPN references in the recycled 2k5 commentary - and I somehow doubt that they had Miller and Morgan come back in to record new commentary to replace it.

Anyway, thanks for the quick response.

Is this KZone or classic? They had bunting in KZone, but none in classic.

I am going to start a franchise later tonight! I am going to spend some time with it. If there is anything that you would like me to look for, let me know and I will do my best to get the answer!

I think you hit the nail on the head. My take on this release is that they wanted to repackage the game to make it more appealing to all of the Yankee haters out there (of which there are many, and of which I am not) who wouldn't buy this game before just because Jeter or as they see it, the Yankees are on the cover. So Take 2 waited for the opportune time to make the change, during the post season when there is a peaked interest in baseball from both die-hard and casual fans alike. They tie the packaging in with the post season and even add a "World Series Classic Moments" mode so it's taps right into the post season baseball buzz...and WALAH! The sales numbers for what is basically the same game as before have a resurgance. Us die hard fans feel somewhat slighted, but not enough to keep us from buying 2K6 next year, so from a business standpoint, this is brilliant marketing. Some of you may think that my theory is off the mark, but if it works and sales numbers increase significantly, Ill bet that there will be some promotions over at Take 2.

And while it makes perfect sense, here we go with another game company puting more emphasis on "marketing" and "internal promotions" than a quality product. Sometimes I think TT is becoming a little bit more like EA everyday (or at least with each new release).

That's kind of a dumb way of thinking about it IMO.

I hate the Yankees but I bought the gamea along with MVP when it first came out. I wound up returning it because I preferred MVP but now I'm ready for something new so I am probably going to pick up this SE tonight.

Besides, T2 should plan on losing an assload of money every year if they plan on doing this since they didn't just sign Derek Jeter to be on this years cover, but on the next 4 or 5 covers (I'm almost positive he signed a multi-year deal to don the cover much like what he did with the ASB series) of the MLB games.

The "basestealing" camera glitch was huge. Even when watching CPU vs. CPU games, the camera would not switch to a view of the runner. It'd be interesting to see if they fixed that, as well as the "multi-camera." I don't know if I'd call the "multi-camera" a gltich, but what is was is that whenever watchign a CPU game the camera would switch to different angles for just about every pitch. And even in this mode, the camera still wouldn't pan to a view of the runner attempting to steal seond. It would switch to the BTP cam and show the pitcher facing home plate.
