    Re: Who likes this game?

it's not a bad game, it has its issues, but from what I've seen of any sports game, I can't remember one released in the past 3 years from either 2k or EA that didn't have at least 5 glaring ones.

I'll have to play a franchise, to see if there are any game killers in that respect, but it's a fun game of baseball, even if it's a little quirky now and again. If for nothing else, it's fun two player.

overall i enjoy this game my only gripe is the fielding. the comp shouldn't get base hits on routine ground balls to SS or 2nd. also the outfielders arm strength in this game is ridiculous

        Re: Who likes this game?

I like the World National Series alot. I'm 0-3 with it-Canada killed my American squad, and Korea took out Japan 9-4 and I had a upset with South Africa and Mexico. O.k-lost 3 games in a row-Am I ticked?nope-tell ya why. I'm learning through slider adjustments and fielding positioning. I like the on the fly outfield positioning. By putting my fielders back for at least the middle of the pack hitters,I don't get burned too bad. Another I like,Not alot of HR's. My favorite kind of B-ball is loading up the bases and getting a rally going. I can get it here. Alot to learn still. And as soon as I win one I'll feel accomplished and pleased as punch. I like the graphics-I'm a minority on that subject but that is fine. Bottom line-I'm using 2K6 for the World Nationals,The Show for regular Pro season. And MVP 05 on the computer for AAA teams. Guess that's enough baseball for me. Now,all I got to do is find the time to squeeze it all in-Lol!

Could most of the problems be on the PS2 version? I have the X-Box version, and besides the issue with the slow grounders, I have not had any of the the problems that people are complaining about, and I'm 10 games now into my season. But then again, I did slider adjustments and bumped up the skill level. I'll go over to the "bugs" threads and see what I should be looking out for.

No, people want a decent game that does not require a complete overhaul after paying $40, or even $60, for it. If they want to give me the game for free, then I'll be happy to have to tinker with everything. Quit making excuses for what is obviously shoddy planning, design, and implementation.
Quit making your stupid YouTube videos and start playing the game.

People just don't want to reward companies for making crap. Apologists aside, the wrong team is making this game at the development company. It's that simple.

I like the game or should i say its a love hate thing sometimes with this game granted i only played about 5 games.I love the pitching and i like the hit stick better than MVP but the fielding is just to slow to respond i go to dive and by the time i dive the ball is already in the outfield or i go to dive and it jumps instead(that part was in last years game).I'm hoping that the 360 fielding is better than this

I don't feel like I'm swinging, throwing, or catching the ball in this game. The gameplay feels clunky and not very responsive ala All-Star Baseball. MVP 2005 is a lot more fun for me.

Fine, and I think you're right that people are angry that the wrong company is making MLB licensed games now, but it makes me question every single post on this forum from posters who I don't know to be 100% reliable. Jistic seems to have played 5 or 6 games and is enjoying himself. If anyone knows sports games its him. Blzer seems to have favorable first impressions. Yet I'm supposed to buy into a bunch of posts by OS members who have 30 posts under their belt and have been around for a month? Yea right. All they're doing is dropping a ton of worthless volume on this forum.

                        Re: Who likes this game?

I personally like the game alot so far. I can't say for sure it'll be the game I use for hardcore franchise mode play, I might purchase the PC version of MVP and DL all the mods for it. But MLB 2k6 isn't nearly as bad as some people have said. Do they need to improve some aspects of the fundamentals to the game? Yes. But it's definitely not something that ruins the play. I haven't noticed any of the baserunning AI flubs that other people have mentioned.

The fielding is a new twist and I like it. It seems like you actually have to get your momentum going in a given direction instead of immediately running downhill right when you break for the ball.

But this is the same with every game that releases when you visit the forums of OS, because yea, I've read it longer than I've posted at it. Here's the program:

-Highly anticipated game comes out after wild speculation.

                            -Game isn't made very well.

-People who like sims to be simlike post disheartning news.

-People who have a lot emotionally invested in said game decry trolls and negative impressions, no matter that negative posters want a good baseball game too.

-Months go by and reality sets in. Board dies, and dissapointment reigns even among former supporters.

-Go back to first phase for next years release.

I'm mad because I bought the Xbox game, wanted to buy the 360 game, and most of all..I'm mad because sports gamers are getting shilled by licensing agreements. I really only care about baseball games, basketball, football, etc. can have tons of minor/major flaws and not rub me the wrong way. I see that NFL 2k5 has major issues, but I enjoy it the most, I still play it with updates.

That said, people are going to do what they're going to do and I should have followed my own advice about waiting to see what the product is instead of buying it and getting upset. Far be it for a "junior" member to rain on your anticipation. I'll quit posting about it.

Frankly a great number of posters at OS no longer enjoy sports games. They test them, dissect them, and want to be the first to discover some bug and reap the fame associated with that. They want to make sliders and rosters and workarounds. They want to post. They want to work.

Which is all fine, if that's your bag. But the reason you see a lot of posters not enjoying a game is because they never had any intention of doing so.
