I'm just saying give yourself a chance to react to the game, to build an impression ... this "slap it in and check for bugs" is pretty unhealthy. Play a few games to see if you like it, without taking detailed notes and without the Baseball Prospectus by your side.5WG | Facebook | Twitter | fiftytwoplays

Re: Who likes this game?
I did play at least 7 games and unfortunately my brain is like the baseball prospectus anyway. I just can't help but notice the glaring mistakes. I keep going back and trying to give this game another chance, but everytime I play it, I want to play something else. Most notably the Show.
I'm seriously disappointed and have no malicious fellings toward anyone, especially not a game company. I didn't like MVP and loved 2k5 and really don't like this game. But I haven't given up completely, I will keep it until someone comes up with a good batch of sliders and the next roster update happens and hope for the best."My favorite word in English is 'youneverknow.'" - Joaquin AndujarComment

Re: Who likes this game?
I don't know that someone's "post count" has any direct link as to his knowledge/experience with baseball video games. I've been a member here for over a year but didn't start posting until recently. I have 800+ posts over at 2K's boards.
As someone far closer to 40 than 30, I've played them all (really), and when a company takes two steps forward and one back, as 2K sports imo has done with 2K6, well, I just get tired of shelling out the bucks every spring for a game that needs 10 hours in the sliders lab just to make it presentable. I did that last year (and still couldn't save it, despite bigfnjoe's best efforts). Not going to do it this year.
I applaud the OS forums for the maturity level I find here. Take a bow. IGN and EA's are a toxic wasteland of sub-70 IQs, and 2K's boards unfortunately aren't as good as they once were, either.Comment

Re: Who likes this game?
No, I dont really like this game....I have played several more games and find it an actual chore to try and enjoy playing it to completion each game. It actually saddens me to see 2K Sports have their name attached to this game, in fact, the entire series. Especially since I have loved their NHL 2K4, 5 and 6 games...their NBA,College Hoops, and their 2K football series. These games have such depth and player individuality, and just all around superior gameplay to any of their competitor's offerings. However, the baseball series has always been their weakness....they just can't nail the authenticity and gameplay of that one, no matter how hard they've tried year after year.
If you own a PS2, there is absolutely no reason to even consider buying this game.....MLB 2006 The Show, is on a completely nother level than this game in terms of realism, baseball authenticity, gameplay, all without having to resort to new 'gimmicks' like MLB 2K6 uses to try and spruce up a subpar gameplay engine.
In fact, there's no excuse not to own MLB the Show if you have the PS2. It could easily be one of the best baseball games ever created to date on any system....thats how good a game it is.
If you have an XBOX, the decision becomes more difficult because there arent many options for you. I would have to actually say that the MVP NCAA is quite good in terms of actual baseball gameplay engine and mechanics but your losing the entire MLB experience. If you need MLB, then I would have to say All Star Baseball 2005, and MVP 2005 are both very good options but not great by any means...........World Series Baseball hasnt been great since the 98 version that came out on the Saturn.Comment

Re: Who likes this game?
I was stoked that 2K6 was coming out because I liked 2K5. Thank goodness I read the board and passed on this. I picked up The Show and downloaded updated rosters -- and it is really great. Couldn't ask for much more from a PS2 baseball title.Comment

Is anybody familiar with the game development of Virtua Fighter 5? Sega wants the game to be like a sport, in that the game maintains credibility and fairness at all levels of play, including those who are at the professional level.
To help accomplishing this, Sega involves the top players in the development process from beginning to the end of the game's development. Maybe it's time for these sports developers to try this approach to making their games, as these games always fall apart when the player gets too good at the game. Not to mention easily exploitable glitches. Not sure if this can be done in 10 months time either.Comment

Originally posted by SoMiss2000and to this day, i'm still not familiar with the madden run/pass glitch. I know of it, but as far as being able to tell when it's a run or pass, i'm still ignorant. that's why, I stay away from the bugs/stickies threads. If something glaring occurs, I'll notice. I don't need any help.
Back on topic: Im likein the game, its cool.I play it after i play a couple of games of the show. Man its hard goin back and forth between games.Sometimes when i play one, i think im playin the other and mess up.lolLast edited by kennyacid; 04-08-2006, 12:20 AM.Comment

Re: Who likes this game?
i have no idea what my post count is but i read the OS boards ever day and often just dont feel the need to post because most relevant topics get covered, and why throw my 2 cents in just so total strangers think i share their insites. anyways, every game gets such mixed reviews that i think everyone should just try them out and see how they feel personally. i dont care what other people say about a game if i want to try it then i do. dont take this the wrong way but what jistic or steve or fossen say should really matter to you form your own freakin opinions already kids."You come at the King, you best not miss..."Comment

Re: Who likes this game?
The real dilemma for me comes next week, and I wonder if I'm alone here...I already have The Show for PS2, and think it's one of the greatest sports games ever....But I also own a 360, and would really like a baseball game in HD. So do I stay with the current-gen or move to the next-gen? I think I'm going to take a wait and see approach. Anybody else in this situation?Comment
