I m thinking about trying out mlb 2k6, I have the show right now and a big thing that bugs me is that you dont know who any of the minor leaguers are. In MVP, you knew someone was joel guzman or chad billingsley by their height, weight, age and sometimes jersey number. But in the show it has none of that, just random guys and you basically have to create them from scratch.

Originally posted by ComfortablyLombFine, and I think you're right that people are angry that the wrong company is making MLB licensed games now, but it makes me question every single post on this forum from posters who I don't know to be 100% reliable. Jistic seems to have played 5 or 6 games and is enjoying himself. If anyone knows sports games its him. Blzer seems to have favorable first impressions. Yet I'm supposed to buy into a bunch of posts by OS members who have 30 posts under their belt and have been around for a month? Yea right. All they're doing is dropping a ton of worthless volume on this forum.Comment

Originally posted by dickdalewoodSame here. I really enjoy these boards, and most of the people on here, which is why I keep coming back. However, I can say that sports games have become a little less fun for me ever since I started noticing all these things that are "wrong" with them...
This year, I'm just avoiding the bugs/glitches thread, and anything else that looks to be pointing out something that I otherwise probably wouldn't notice.Comment

I think someone quoted my previous post and mentioned that I am trying to find anyway possible to make it seem like this game doesn't stink. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have no problem dumping on a game that stinks but this one is taking a beating from people with nothing more to say than "I just popped in to dump on this game because it's not MVP or High Heat." When some of Operation Sports' more respected posters are saying that they're having a good time and the lower crust are whining mercilessly there seems to be a real question as to motivation behind posts.N.Y Mets

Originally posted by Scribe1980I don't know that someone's "post count" has any direct link as to his knowledge/experience with baseball video games. I've been a member here for over a year but didn't start posting until recently. I have 800+ posts over at 2K's boards.
As someone far closer to 40 than 30, I've played them all (really), and when a company takes two steps forward and one back, as 2K sports imo has done with 2K6, well, I just get tired of shelling out the bucks every spring for a game that needs 10 hours in the sliders lab just to make it presentable. I did that last year (and still couldn't save it, despite bigfnjoe's best efforts). Not going to do it this year.
I applaud the OS forums for the maturity level I find here. Take a bow. IGN and EA's are a toxic wasteland of sub-70 IQs, and 2K's boards unfortunately aren't as good as they once were, either.
I read posts without looking at the post number. I judge them on how accurate they are, how well the point is made, and if enough evidence to support the point was presented. I judge the maturity level of the poster by the words they use. I discount anyone who is too dogmatic in either direction, who is reduced to using insults because they can't converse without losing their cool.
Now, I have been playing "The Show" which I think is the best baseball game I have ever played. I hated it last year as I hated 2K as well. But I loved 2K two years ago. I really liked MVP last year but hated it every year prior.
So you can see that I don't care who makes the game. I hate fanboy clubs of any game maker. I just want the best game.
I came here to find out how this years 2K stacks up with The Show. I was hoping it was as good as the version 2 years ago. But, I can't get a straight baseball answer because you guys are stepping all over yourselves to explain why a post is or isn't credible.
Maybe a new thread can be started and people will post SPECIFICS of what makes the game good or bad. It would also be nice to compare it with The Show since that game has been out for quite a while now and most have tried it.
So people, stop bowing your chests and make good, solid posts that you don't have to defend later on and that can't be attacked by the juveniles.
Then we can all just "Play Ball"!Comment

Slthree, I would personally love to post a head to head specific comparison of MLB 2K6 versus MLB 06 the Show with detailed descriptions of each aspect of the gameplay for example:
Pitcher Windups
---------------
MLB06: ****1/2 stars - smooth lifelike, natural slingshot motions from full windup, to stretch. releastic release points from the hand. Also nice inbetween pitch animations to convey seamless ballgame experience.
MLB2k6: *** stars - animations and release points from hand have been more fluidly rendered in comparison to last year, but still need further improvements as the pitchers still convey stilted, manequinn-like movements at times. Also variety in pitch windup styles is not as vast as MLB 06
Camera Angles
--------------
ect, ect
I would love to do a feature for feature, gameplay for gameplay breakdown on this forum that included fully detailed and descriptive comparisons but the way the forum administrators seem to be on this power locking, big brother ego trip of late, I think I'll pass.Comment
