I think you're spot-on. It was the "lefty glitch" that changed things (for the worse) around here.

Are you trying to suggest consumers should've instead focused on 'having fun' with lefthanders being completely devoid of power...instead of being unhappy and complaining about it?

All they're doing is dropping a ton of worthless volume on this forum.
In other words you will do anything it takes to pretend that 2k6 is a good BB game.. I assume the ppl with under 30 post gave the game thumbs down, so they must know nothing about sports gaming.. I bet if they agreed with you, you wouldn't be sayingh that..Same wit sites like IGN.. Seriously, why do some ppl get so attached to a game..It's like if ppl attack 'their' game, they take it so personal..

There comes a balance point, though. With MLB2k6, all I hear is negativity, and maybe that subjective view affected how I perceived the game the first time. I've become extremely analytical since WSB 2k3 because of what I've read on these forums.

What would help is a balance between what is good and what needs improving. MLB2k6 is really cool, and it deserves props for some of the interesting features (first person catcher throwing). But the game just doesn't seem fun for me, and I don't know why. Maybe I'll give it another chance tonight.

One thing that really bothers me is the framerate drop / slowndown while batting in the low zoomed view. Has anyone else experienced this? It makes the game unplayable unless I use the medium view.

Actually, now that I think about it, frame rate drops really kill a game for me. I can play the heck out of MVP 2005 and never get bored, but MVP 2006 irritates me even with the slightest slowdown. The same is happening with 2k6.

Blame 2k sports for that..Hell, we know huge bugs will be in the game..

Well, I think that when playing a game ... yeah, fun comes first.

If I'm having fun with a game, I don't really care about simulated walk stats over a season. And if I'm not, I don't care how right they are.

I review here, and I start from "fun" first - is this game enjoyable. Then I quantify from there. What happens here is often the reverse ... how many people were having a blast with MVP until the "lefty glitch" was popularized, and only then became pissed off?

Life's too short, man. Games should be fun - you gotta be able to see the forest for the trees.

I actually never even realized there was a glitch and I was pretty far in my season, I didn't realize it until I read it on here.

Same here. I really enjoy these boards, and most of the people on here, which is why I keep coming back. However, I can say that sports games have become a little less fun for me ever since I started noticing all these things that are "wrong" with them...

This year, I'm just avoiding the bugs/glitches thread, and anything else that looks to be pointing out something that I otherwise probably wouldn't notice.

I agree with you here fossen. I play the console games for fun, but I am a total "stats" nut. Right now, console "number-crunching" is still not on par with my OOTP. I understand that when I sit down in front of a console baseball game. Maybe the future baseball games on the 360/PS3 can close that gap. I play/enjoy each game for different reasons.

                        Re: Who likes this game?

I agree with most of what you guys are saying. But I do admit I always noticed something really terribly wrong with just about every baseball game I've played.

The one I will never forget was for I think it was Triple PLay 99 where the ss would either go towards the outfield or towards the pitcher on any ball hit up the middle. It really sucked, but me and my friends played on. But I still can't believe how much I disliked this game.

I don't think I'm more critical, I think I just understand and can articulate the problems I see better because I am part of these forums.

I really really liked 2k5 and was expecting 2k6 to be like 2k5 but a little better and without the bugs. Unfortunately it is a pretty significantly different game with only a few of the bugs fixed.

                          Re: Who likes this game?

As a constant crucifier of all things EA, MLB 2K6 deserves all the negativity its getting....if, in fact, the game does suck. I dont know since I haven't played it yet.

What needs to happen is these developers need to get it right. This is probably the worst era for sports gamers ever. We have never been so limited in choices, so divided and so unimpressed with what we have been given. Everyones worst nightmare's has come to pasture. With the exclusive licenses of the top sports being bogarted by these greedy companies, nothing is the same anymore.

I promise you, if there was still a HH, or a MVP or even a ASB, 90% of the ppl here would of moved on already or even waited for the next baseball game to drop. Since this is all we've got, everything is being amplified to the 10th power. Just as the case was in the Madden forum, gamers who's favorite game of choice is now out of business cant get accustomed to another companies game. Its very understandable. If you're basically forced to play a game you previously had no care for, its easy to pick apart and dismiss.

This is what is going on in the 2K6 forum. Many disgruntled former MVP players, HH fans and ASB rejects are all here to dump on what they never cared for in the first place. Its not their fault though, its these companies fault for scooping up all the licenses and limiting us to one brand. It will never work out as long as these deals stay in place.

Quite frankly, I'm upset. So upset that I've pretty much moved on to non-sporting games. Sports games will always be there but in this current state, the anticipation is'nt there for me anymore. 2K games will forever be the most buggiest games known to man, EA will forever release complete mediocrity and since this is pretty much a guarantee, I can already predict the outcome of both companies games for the next 4-5 years. So for the complainers of complainers, dont fret, both MLB and Madden are destined to fail each and every year.

With that said, will I still have fun? I might. But if I dont have fun with a certain game, there is nothing to turn to. There is'nt another game down the line that may give you what you need. In the end, we're pretty much screwed. Oh Well, at least I got Oblivion.

                            Dude, Oblivion is awesome.

                            -------------------------

I think someone quoted my previous post and mentioned that I am trying to find anyway possible to make it seem like this game doesn't stink. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have no problem dumping on a game that stinks but this one is taking a beating from people with nothing more to say than "I just popped in to dump on this game because it's not MVP or High Heat." When some of Operation Sports' more respected posters are saying that they're having a good time and the lower crust are whining mercilessly there seems to be a real question as to motivation behind posts.
