I believe in one of the two recent gametrailers vids there is mention of improved audio as it relates to what is happening on the field, past at bats and past performance of the starting pitcher.

Yes, the one video said that a lot of the commentary by Miller is more detail and position oriented. He mentioned a specific example of when Pujols is at bat instead of Jon saying "A swing and a miss", he might say "A swing and a miss by Pujols". They also mentioned bringing up a starting pitchers' performance in his last outing, which I think is pretty impressive. Apparently it will spill into the stands, as well, as they said you may hear someone from the crowd yell "How about another double, Jeter!"

Progressive commentary is a necessity for giving a title legs. Last year, 10 games in you knew what the commentary was all about already. MLB the show is the benchmark for commentary in any sports game so far! Hopefully they took notes from them.

Personally I think NFL2k is the benchmark for sports commentary.

And I didnt think The Show was that great compared to MLB2K6 commentary wise. I didnt even play a baseball game last year. And I tried like heck to play both of them. IMO The Show was equally as boring as 2K6 was a flawed mess.

I really dont get peoples facination with The Show. I found it to be very unfun and boring very quick.

Am I the only one who always turns the commentary off after a game or two? I'd rather have the feeling of being in the game rather than watching/listening to it on TV.

I saw they had the Twins in throwback unis and the Giants in either a throwback or some alternate uni. Did they have a decent selection of extra unis last year or did that have to be downloaded?
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

Well, you have to admit, Dave Campbell could get quite repetitive with his commentary. There were certain phrases he'd say over and over again. Vespergain, (sp???), however, was great.

Yes, Dave was a real PITA! Matt definately sets the bar for progressive commentary. A 100 games into the season you were still hearing new lines based on player accomplishments.

Obvioucly though it looks like 2k is getting this game in order.
I agree it is harder than it sounds, but how come the guys who modify the games for the pc and modded consoles are nailing all the details the programmers arent? You get at least a year to do a game and after hearing what the fans gripes are and not to fix them year after year something isnt right about that. I know everyone sees things differently but some stuff just aint right. And the cats modifying the game have limited resources like google, mlb.com, a couple of Sporting News mags, an SI ... So although I agree that you are right about the amount of work and time it takes to do this, I hope that this year we are spending most of our time playing the game instead of making David Wells not look like Vernon Wells around the waistline. Ya feel me?

The problem I'm having with this game is that I have a bad feeling the minors will not be represented yet again- and that is KEY for depth for any MLB game. Heck, we've had the minors in the other hardball games for over 3 years now. Yeah..I know, it looks beautiful... but I think MLB 07 The Show will still have more depth- unless 2K convinces us otherwise with news on the features.

yeah, the game looks great but the real selling point for me will be gameplay and franchise depth....

Sure, they actually had a decent selection in the game. Some were available by default, some you had to unlock (Just enter the code Derek Jeter and you unlocked everything though). The problem is that they had some inaccurate uni's overall, even with the current versions. Like the Red Sox road jersey was screwed up, in the jersey select screen it said Boston, but in-game it was just their home version with Red Sox on it in the road colors. Also the alternate jerseys were available, but some of them were wrong on the details, like incorrect colors of names and numbers on some of them. And the Cards wore dark batting helmets on the road but red hats in the field on the road, when in reality they wear the dark hats. And you only got home alternates, no way to wear road alternates. Kind of strange.

Hopefully with the amazing attention to detail we've been shown so far some of this will be cleaned up!

I doubt their will be minor league teams in 2K7 either. Realistically, I'm looking at this as being similar to MVP 2003. If you remember, that game didn't even have a franchise mode, so at least we're a little better off now. It seems very clear that this year's dev cycle was focused on getting the gameplay back on track and all the details that will make players recognizable to fans, and not so much on extra features/teams/modes.

Brinkman seems like the type of guy that likes to appeal to the hardcore, so I expect full minors in the game within a year or 2 years at the most. However, you can only do so much at once, and he's smart enough to know that all the features and teams and modes in the world mean exactly nothing if the gameplay makes you want to quit forever after 2 games.

My favorite visual is the divisional standings in Fenway...

                                Baltimore is 30-19
