Good one. This annoyed me as well during franchise. It's been a problem since the ESPN MLB baseball days. I remember in ESPN MLB 2004, some of the lineups got really messed up throughout the course of a season.

I sure hope they have this fixed for their 2K8 game...

Yea, I'm not sure if I could buy MLB2k8 if that isn't fixed.

Problem is I'll want this game on release date and probably won't find out until I sim a season and see what happens.

I honestly care about only one thing, the batting. You could have every real minor leaguer in the game, every minor league stadium, real life graphics running at 60 fps, and everything else, but if this game doesn't fix the "triple play" like batting where every hit is a single or a HR, then this game will be a failure again.

All of the other stuff is side dressing. Baseball games win or lose based on the batter/pitcher interface. Thats where the game is made fun or completely frustrating or in the end, completely unrealistic.

I really hope what Ben is saying is true, that they acknowledged the singles/HR nature of the hitting system, and they are making this much more "sim". Of anything in that interview, I really hope this one is the truth.

Agreed. Doesn't matter how franchise mode works. If the pitcher/batting interface and hitting overall is unrealistic, boring, and predictable then the game is terrible.

I think the positive is that Ben acknowledged that this was present in MLB2k7 and in past iterations.

If he's aware of it and he's going to go out and say you'll experience a difference then I'm inclined to believe him. Like I said before, Ben doesn't have a habit of promising something unless he can back it up.

As for the minor league teams and whether or not they have full rosters, I thought it was not possible to name minor league players due to MLB licensing? In other words, if a player had not played or been on a Major Leauge 40 man roster, the game developers could not use their name in a game.
              I agree with this completely.

I'll wait for the final product before I buy anything he's saying.
While 2k7 ran 60fps for the 360 last year, I would hardly call it a smooth experience. I still think the graphics and batting animations were stuttery.

Frankly, I think the only way to fix a broken product is to start from scratch, because old mistakes are bound to haunt the series for its entirety.

Brinkman is a salesman in that interview, nothing more.

                Re: 2K8 Brinkman Interview

Ups and downs (and balancing the ups so that our expectations don't get TOO HIGH)...that sums up next-gen gaming for me.

I played MLB on 360 and enjoyed the visuals, but not the gameplay...I played it on PS3 and was appalled by the visuals AND the gameplay...so I am excited that Ben says the PS3 version will be improving visually AND that both versions will improve gameplay-wise. His interview was one of those "up" moments, and I am going to enjoy it. Like someone said earlier, he has a history of delivering...so now I am thinking that 2k8 may actually compete with The Show this year on my PS3, and that is a good thing. So I am going to enjoy this interview and hopefully the gameplay vids will back him up....and hopefully the gameplay experience will back up the vids...if not, well, then those are the "downs."

2K7 was not 60 frames per second. I'm guessing it was closer to 5.

I think we're in for something special. "The Show" guys say what you want, but I think your game is going to be in a battle for the top spot this year. As a 360 only owner, I predict 2k8 takes the prize!

it. Really shows u didn't know about 2k7. Last years game ran at 30 Fps on the 360. It was worst on the ps3. 2k8 will run at 60fps. So the game is going to be very smooth

At least we finally get to rid something about 2k8. Ben talked about some of the big things they wanted to accomplish in year 2 without letting any real "detail" out about this year's game.

I played a ton of 2k7 after the patch and I'm really excited for this year's game. A definite preorder for me. I can't wait to see the game in 60fps glory.

I'd much rather have cut scenes run with far more details/polygons/etc at 30fps
