Re: Found video on 2k forum
This video is MUCH improved from what we saw @ IGN. I wasn't really worried about the gameplay, as I trust in the Brinkman & Co. (call me naive). I was really looking more for the little things and I liked what I saw. I like what I see so far.Comment

Re: Found video on 2k forum
two main things couldnt stand about 2k7 are the same.
1- camera angle doesnt show the high fly balls, and it just looks weird
2- you cant see the flight of the ball from the behind the pitcher camera- it just goes to the fielding screen after contact.
Otherwise looks good, but I didnt like 2k7 and this just seems to have the same physics.
We'll see after a demo
Forgot to mention how I love the active bullpens and ballgirls on the sidelines.Last edited by Splitter77; 01-29-2008, 02:50 PM.Comment

Re: Found video on 2k forum
Co-sign with the difference between IGN and that. I am excited about the game again. It really looked more fluid than the ign videos with some of the animations. I especially noticed it with the cleveland players running off the field. They didn't look zombie-ish like some of the 2k7 stuff.Pitchers and Catchers Report; Life Worth Living AgainComment

Re: Found video on 2k forum
one thing i cant stand about the 2k sereis is the "tracer" On fly balls. looks very bad. i dont know if you can turn this off or on but it just takes away from the feell of the game for me.."Baseball is life, without Baseball life itself ceases to exist." - Ken SpragueComment

Re: Found video on 2k forum
I wanted to see Kotchman and Kendrick.
The game looks really good. I hope that the ball comes off the bat the right angle this year, can't tell from these videos. At least there aren't super choppers like in The Show (do they still have that?).Comment

Re: Found video on 2k forum
The game to me still looks like 2K7 with a fresh coat of paint on it. What they added makes the game flow better and seem a bit more realistic but outside of that I really can't pick out anything too stunning about what I just saw. The game does however look real slick with the new player animations and how they all flow together correctly etc.Comment

Re: Found video on 2k forum
Well here is some of my thoughts on the video..First defintly better video then the IGN video's.
Pro's
1) Presentation - Looks much better im digging the overlay's in the beggining of the game. The outside shot of the stadiums look nice and the fans walking around much much better more beleivable. The camera sway shots when the batter walks up is a nice touch.
2) Bat Physics- i like the way the ball somes off the bat, say bloop hits ect.
3) The way players run off the field after the inning is over.
4) Much smoother gameplay then last year.
5)Crowd seems more into it. though i will need to see more.
Con's
1) Commentary - Well sounds exactly like last year though i will need to here commentary on my METS to really see how much difference there is.
2) Animations seem sooo blah to me i cant but my finger on it, it like the slow ups on the flyballs to the grounders its like there not transitioned well at all. They seem jerky i really agree with a poster i read before they need to scrap this and really mo-cap cause it seemed more key frame animation and you can see the difference immensly.
3)Stadiums were not worked on at all. Jacobs field looks off buildings in the back, im not even a fan and i can see the blahness of that stadium.
Overall im quite pleased what they have done with the mess that has been... though things i really want to see hopefully in this game or Next year is more interaction when homeruns hit like shots of the scoreboard or fans.. just more cuts.
Also i wish 2k would stick with a theme, i know there implementing throwing meters, new pitching ect.. but at what price is it? See triple play was scrapped for MVP we all know that but they found a great base and buit on it. There is no bases at all in MLB2k series, every year a new gimmick, but we get same horrible animations, faces look like crap stadiums look like the did back in 2k4 same home run trots and same cuts on the field. I feel they really need to scrap this game all together and 2k9 do what EA did and relize its time to start all over just like the MVP series.Comment

I agree 100% with the starting all over but only on the animations. I love the idea of the new pitching system and I am actually one of the few fans of the timing system (i feel its more realistic). I say for 2k9 get ESPN back and revamp all the animations with mo cap.
p.s. anyone notice martinez walk up righty and then in the gameplay he was batting lefty.Comment
