Check it out. It's actually a lot better this year as the contact area seems the same size but the area of "solid" contact doesn't feel as large.

Using the cursor in 2K4 you could also select one-button aka "classic" meaning you just pressed A or you could have a power and contact swing (just A or B to swing with after aligning the pitch w. the cursor.

No, it's the same. You can look at it by turning on "API" as it shows that same little "cursor" you're referring to.

Are you talking about the bat coverage indicator? API is the artificial pitching intelligence(catcher calling pitches).

Backstep

no...angles....

Backstep and to the right at an up angel (with a hint to the right) = 4 (middle plate away)

Backstep and to the right (not at an angel) completely to the right = 5 (away)

Backstep and to the left at an up angel (with a hint to the left) = 2 (middle in)

Back step and to the left (not at an angel) completely left = 1 (inside)

Back step and STRAIGHT UP is dead center = 1

Now when u get fastball down the middle u can choose to pull it any which way so the middle pitch the direction u press shouldnt influence it much....

But the others will be influenced by how far your "reaching" with the bat....then other things like timing, player rating, pitch type, pitch location, etc...will also come together to complete the swing and the hit variety....

I think we're talking about the same point but there's no way to breakdown via text what I'm pretty sure you mean.

Section off the upper half of the circle of an analog into sections and you get what you're referring to, correct?

It's funny that High Heat was mentioned. I've been telling my brother for years that High Heat had the best hitting system out. The thing I liked was that if you pulled down and right on the analog stick, that's where you swung no matter where the pitch was.

I'm not a fan of seperate "power" and "contact" buttons, or timing only! I just can't see why we just can't have a choice. By the way, don't go running out to get High Heat 2004. I just got it about a month ago and the graphics are so horrible that I couldn't even play it! I couldn't beleive that I used to play that game every day and night for hours!

I have been trained a certain way over the years how to play, and the rug has been pulled away from me. I am in the same boat...i am a 2k fan since WSB 98 and the hitting got me so sick that I bought a PS3 2 weeks ago and rented 07 and played the demo...now there is no turning back for me. I hate the hitting in 2k7 and i feel it might be worse this year.

Why did they take out zone hitting?
