Re: **The little things thread**
Tonight I figured out how to take control of the runner running to first on a hit and you can slide into first (you hit the right trigger to take control of him and then slide normally). I thought...nice, that might come in handy. Sure enough, next game Yunel Escobar hits a shot to Loney at 1B and it bounces off of his chest. He barehands it and tosses to Lowe coming over to cover first, but the timing is all off and Lowe isn't going to beat Escobar to the bag so he goes for the tag. I see him trying and I slide to the outside of the bag head first and am safe avoiding the tag. Pretty cool to see it come back to work for me."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. Re: **The little things thread**
Me Cubs vs Dodgers. Big Z pitching, Juan Pierre at first, Jeff Kent at the plate. Tried to break Kent off with a curve. ball bounced in front of the plate, but instead of going to the backstop, Soto was able to block and keep it in front of him without catching the ball. ball bounce about 3 feet in front of home. Pierre, taking his secondary lead, thinks he can make it down to 2nd base. Soto pounces on the ball like a cat, and throws a perfect strike down to Derosa at second to nail Pierre. I yelled "Yeah!!" so loud my wife started bitchin'.
earlier in the same game Kent hit a long drive to left, looked like a easy HR, but Soriano, jumps at the last second, gets his glove on the ball, and knocks it over the fence for an HR.
Also had Cedeno throw 2 Dodgers out at home after taking the relay in short leftfield from Soriano at the wall.
this sounds like a really good game, but I got blasted 15-4XBL Gamertag

Re: **The little things thread**
I know the "little things" applies to gameplay. But one of the little things I like is the sound track. The music is pretty good to me. I know it's a matter of preference. When I hear some of the songs in the menu, I find myself nodding my head in enjoyment.PSN: PhiNuPi

Re: **The little things thread**
Had a cool thing happen in A game yesterday. While pitching the CPU hits a shot deep in the hole between 3rd and 2nd, my shorstop makes the stop and I fires a throw over to first. The throw was a bit short of the bag in the dirt and the first baseman had to stretch to get it. Runner was called SAFE although it looked to me like he was out by a step or two.......I'm like WTF 2K !!!!
So I watched the replay and zoomed in on the first base bag. The bad throw from my shortstop caused the first baseman to pull his foot off the bag long enough for the runner to cross the bag just before the 1b's foot came back down. I've seen this happen before when the first baseman has to jump straight up for a high throw but I thought it was cool the way it happened - after watching the replay, I said WTF for a whole new reason.......SWEEEEEETXBL Gamertag: hoos4974

Re: **The little things thread**
I was pretty impressed when I was pitching with Felix Hernandez and he got a big K late in the game he pointed towards his catcher as if to give him "credit" for the K. This felt so right because I had 7 K's with him that game and that one was definetley the most important one. Late in the game I think a runner on etc etc.Comment

Re: **The little things thread**
Player's getting hurt is pretty cool too. I was pitching with Pedro and he took a line drive off the arm and it was his pitching arm so they took him out (it said something like "bruised bicep out for 2-3 weeks)Comment

Re: **The little things thread**
Played the Mets last night at Citizens. Pedro struck out Victorino and Jon Miller did a Harry Kalas impression calling the K. That was great!!Comment

Re: **The little things thread**
talk about realism. I was playing against the Padres with my Cubs. Changed the Pads starting pitcher to Mark Prior for nostalgias sake. Of course he goes out in the second inning with a strained bicep. The more things change, the more they stay the same.XBL Gamertag

Re: **The little things thread**
This was a moment that just felt so good...something that always felt scripted in older 2k games with the pre-loaded r-stick diving (with fielders):
Playing as the M's vs. Angels. Gary Matthews drives on into right centre....a real screamer. Ichiro (and man he can fly in the field....LOVE how you can feel the difference in fielders' range) takes off and I can completely envision the line hte ball will take....it's going to drop in front of him, so I just pick my spot and lunge all out. Perfectly timed, he scoops the ball just before it lands for a highlight-reel out.
In the last couple of years, these catches always felt like "press stick...watch game accommodate fielder speed to ensure animation lines up with ball...catch". It's so much more organic now, and I've had similar plays where I miss the ball completely.
I really love the fielding in this game.Comment

Re: **The little things thread**
Last night, Tim Hudson gets a line drive screaming right his head, the ball bounces off his head, over the first base line, dudes safe.
The next thing I know he's on the ground and taken out with a concussion! I have to bring a cold reliever off the bench and can't hit the strike zone so I promptly lose by wild pitching to death.
It was cool that he got the concussion after a violent shot to the head.
But what sucked was that I wasn't given the opportunity to warm up a pitcher and that essentially lost me the game. I don't' like that part.PSN: JISTIC_OS

Re: **The little things thread**
- Manny being manny: Miss timed a ball that was rolling to him, he stuck the glove out and the ball went under it. He smacked his glove with his hand and trotted back to get the ball. the way he throws when hes tossing it from the outfield. When he hits a homerun he does his hands like an air plane
- Big Papi: When he misses a pitch he still has his helicopter swing followthrew. He goes opposite field with power. His stance and swing is photo-realistic
- Out field collisions happen if you do not call a person off.
- Sliding into second is not pre canned: A ball was hit up the middle, furcal ran to second and stepped on the bag and made a jump a throw. He landed but the runner slid very late, and took out furcal.
- When a high fly ball is hit to the outfield and a runner is tagging up, there is an arrow on the catching circle. If you stand on that arrow, it'll help you time your running catch.
- Silky smooth double plays
- When you know you got a hold of a pitch by the sound of the bat.
- slow rollers are barehanded
- Jumping into the ivy at Wrigly
- Hard hit ground balls are alot of the time are hard for the AI to handle, but its not called an error since it was such a hard hit that eats them up.
- Realistic diving

One thing I thought that was cool was when I went to rob a homerun and it bounced off my glove and went over the fence.I jumped too soon. lolComment

Re: **The little things thread**
Speaking of Manny being Manny, I was trying to catch a sinking line drive with him on the run and he did a little jump/scissor-kick type thing and lunged at the ball. It hit off the heel of his glove and bounced away. It was a really cool looking animation, and I have only seen it one time (which is a good thing to me).
I also love the jump and throw animation a la Jeter.Comment
