    Re: PC version question

I've found that MLB 2K9 runs considerably better on my PC than NBA 2K9. Take that for what it's worth.

Jim, make sure you and lower your resolution for starters. By default, I believe it selects the highest your monitor can support. On a 22 inch monitor, that is going to be a fairly high resolution.

        Re: PC version question

        Oh man......

Aside from some menu choppiness and a few small camera hitches the first time it panned around (both of which I attribute to borderline RAM, and it being the first time the game loaded), and some minor slowdown in cutscenes with massive amounts of crowd displayed, my comp just pulled a solid 60 FPS in the NBA Demo with all the details maxed and a 4x AA. I'm serious when I say that my PS3 didn't run NBA 2k9 that good back when I rented it. That looked absolutely amazing.

If the baseball game even looks half that good....wow. At least now I pretty much know for sure I won't have any issues running it.

Well, for $100 or so I think I'll upgrade anyway. It won't hurt. Thanks guys, and I'm pretty sure I'll give the PC version a go. Heck, $20??? Can't beat that.

It will be interesting to see what kind of modding can be done. This will probably be my winter ball project.

                I hear ya.

Well at any rate, you're going to have 2 different baseball games to play this year. This series has already taken a big step onto the right path just by having VC take it over. Hoping they can lay a solid foundation this year, and just build onto next year.

I really hope 2k9 has a similar file structure compared to mvp. If not, we will have to start from scratch. I'm really hoping I'll be able to mod wrigley or tropicana.

I was wondering how MLB 2K9 might run on my system, so I downloaded the NBA 2K9 demo. I switched all the detail to high except for crowds, which I set at medium, and changed the resolution to 1280x1024. AA slowed it down, so i chose no antialaising, and I got a steady framerate between 50 - 60 FPS - mostly in the mid 50s. I tried 1400 x 1050 and it's about the same. So, I'm lookin' forward to MLB 2K9. The good thing is, people can buy a computer like mine for cheap if you know how to build your own PC.

I did the same thing and I was happy with the results.

For reference to anyone else interested in the PC version my specs are an e4500 (2.2ghz duo-core), 3.2 GB 667mhz RAM, HD Radeon 3870 HD DDR4, and Vista 32-bit - so definitely a budget system for gaming.

I was able to run the game at 1680 x 1050 with all settings at high and anti-aliasing turned off and I was averaging about 55 FPS with a low of 45 and a high of 60.

If you go to order directly from 2K Sports, you can see the PC version is $19.99.
