    Re: PC version question

Yeah, that 9800GT I posted would be a great card. EVGA is a really good brand too, and they offer a full lifetime warranty.

Just make sure your power supply has enough juice to power a new card. It's not just the total wattage you need to look at, but also check the +12V rail to see how many amps it cranks out. You should be ok, but its better to be safe than sorry.

So looks like a new video card for me.
Yeah, on-board graphics solutions are not the greatest for modern 3D gaming. They are usually shells of what a separate card in it's own series, and sometimes less than a top card in the series before it.

You will have no problems with the 9800GT, and if you want a bit more performance with not much more money, the 9800GTX+ would fit the bill.

BFG is a great brand. (what I usually run)
EVGA and XFX are good solutions as well.

You lost me at "Just make sure.....". What is a +12V rail, lol. You aren't that computer guy from Saturday Night Live, are you?

But I understand. Don't want to blow up my computer.

Nah, the card just wont run. I will check your PSU from your model. I will edit this thread and tell you if you are ok or not. Just have to see if you have enough amperage to power the card.

You have a fairly late model PC, so you should be good to go, but I will check "just in case".

EDIT: The may be an issue. The site lists your PSU (Power Supply) at only 250Watts. While yes they may be below the "recommended", I seen people run cards well below wattage, as long as the amperage was up to snuff (since all they did was game and not have a million and one accessories drawing juice on the PC). Is there any way you can check the label on the Power Supply, and see that the A (amperage) rating on the 12V rail is?

If the PSU isn't up to snuff, then this would be a much larger undertaking than it is work. And in fact, just buy the PS3 or 360 version, and it will hurt the head and wallet less. LOL. Though you will miss out on the mods, if there is any.

Why? NFL 2K5 and other 2K games were $19.99 - it hurt EA so much they were forced to lock down the NFL license.

MLB 2K9 is a 360 port - the good thing is that the 360 uses DirectX 9, and all they really needed to do was increase resolution.

I don't buy anything but baseball game(s). Had no idea. I see PC games coming out at $49.99 and this one at $19.99.

Yeah, a good PSU would cost you around another 100 bucks, so it may not be worth it for just one game, but if you do a lot of gaming on your PC, then it would be worth it in the long run. It just depends on your situation and if you already own a PS3 or 360.

I think he could get by on a less expensive power supply. I didn't spend that much on mine and it's a nice one.

Your only chance of running that game with an onboard GPU is 800x600 with all settings on low.

With the odds of this being moddable I'd buy it over the 360 version even if they were the same price.

If VC plans to release MLB 2k_ for the PC every year Jim might as well drop $105 for the 9800 GT and $65 for a quality 600w+ PSU (get a brand name PSU). The PSU will last a long time and the 9800GT will last a good 3 years before it will need upgraded. $105 over 3 years is a drop in the hat.

Does anyone know if the pc version will have the real time feature? It doesn't include it on 2k's site under the pc tab.

I'm pretty sure they said it will have all the offline features that the 360 version has.
