Re: PC version question
Re: PC version question
Jim, did it run really slow in the game itself or mostly the main menu (team select)?
The reason I ask is because I had a problem with the demo on the main menu but the game ran silky smooth for me.
At first I was kinda miffed because my PC should be WELL above the minimum specs, but then I did some research and apparently the game has (or had...not sure if the PC version was patched as I only played the demo) an issue with lag at the main menu and control configuration screens.
Anyway, that might be part of your feeling it's way too slow perhaps. Your graphic card, while certainly not advanced, should be able to at least handle the more moderate settings I would think.Comment

Mine was choppy and stalling in the menus the very first time I loaded the demo, but every time afterward has been butter smooth 60 FPS, aside from the times that VSync drops it into 30 FPS on shots that are background/crowd heavy.Jim, did it run really slow in the game itself or mostly the main menu (team select)?

You might try running it a few times to see if the menus get faster if you know your computer should handle it.Comment

Re: PC version question
Everything ran slow, the transition from the lead in, everything. I went a deleted as soon as I backed out because I thought my PC just couldn't handle it, but I'm going to download it again (including that dumb STEAM thing, lol) and mess with adjustments. I'll let you know. I still intend on upgrading my graphics card though.Jim, did it run really slow in the game itself or mostly the main menu (team select)?

How do you tell if it's integrated or not?Comment

Under the display properties for the graphics card, it should tell you PCI or Integrated somewhere.Everything ran slow, the transition from the lead in, everything. How do you tell if it's integrated or not?
I know on XP you right click on desktop, then go to Settings, then Advanced, Adapter, then Properties. Or instead of Adapter you can click on the Card name and it will tell you under the "Bus:"
Cant remember if it is any different on Vista.
Also, control panel and System where it tells you info on your system may help.
I see that it is an HP, do you have the model number? We can look it up for you.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: PC version question
Does it say something like PCI Slot 8 (PCI Bus 1)
Just to not confuse you, but bus and slot are different things. And integrated can still use a "bus protocol".
It has to say slot, and nothing about integrated. If it does, then you are good to go, and yes, you would want to buy the new card. Download the newest drivers off nVidia's site. Uninstall the old drivers. Turn off PC, open it and swap the card. Then boot it up, and install the new drivers. Vista may even do that for you, but might not be the newest.
Come to think of it, I dont think HP comes with integrated nVidia, only integrated Intel. But I could be wrong.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: PC version question
Ok Jim. That is the perfect info. It is Integrated (so I was wrong, been out of the loop for pre-builds).
PCI Express x16 One (One available) You do have an expansion slot for the card. So what you have to do is a bit easier.
You buy the new card. Download the newest driver. Open the PC and put the card in, and then install the driver. Vista may help you with disabling the on-board graphics. But if not, you will have to go into the properties and disable the on-board card, so you PC isnt seeing both active.
But if not:
Make sure your BIOS defaults to looking for video cards in PCI-E or PCI. (Auto sometimes works, but doesnt hurt to manually tell it)
Turn off computer
Put in video card
Start computer
Go in bios
Disable onboard video card
Save changes and start up windows
Install drivers from nVidia's site.
Refer to the owners manual on how to get into the BIOS. Some PCs have the method on different splash screens.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 02-15-2009, 04:06 PM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: PC version question

Dont laugh though. You may need a screwdriver for the slot plate. Dunno the case design, but some either snap off, or have a screw holding in the plate and will need it to hold in the GFX card.
Make sure you de-static yourself too before touching the new card.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 02-15-2009, 04:09 PM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: PC version question
Downloaded the game again.
Put my monitor resolution down to 1360x780, not much difference, a little. Lowered settings in option, noticed that the crowd was now almost gone except I could see shoulders and a head once in awhile. So that didn't work.
So looks like a new video card for me.Comment
