    FRANCHISE PROGRESS

So Gents... lets share our Franchise Progress for MLB 2K9 here on this thread.

I've also got a blog going detailing my MLB 2K9 Franchise experience if you care to check it out and leave your comments.

    http://www.osatwork.com/JBH3/blog/

I'm basically controlling 4 teams: PHI, WAS, BAL, & KC.

I plan to rotate, play a series w/ the Phils, then w/ the Nats, and so on until I'm back to the Phils. This I've decided, would be the best way to play w/ all my user teams and get through multiple seasons.

However, my ultimate goal is to ensure the Phillies get into the postseason to defend their World Title so if they start to rack up the losses from simming their games due to my little rotation, I'll only play games as the Phillies to do my best to get them into contention.

On my blog I'll have a much more detailed report of my played games, but to get it up to speed...

    ------------------------------------------------------------

I've played opening day and the 2nd game of the year w/ the Phillies.

Opening day was a 2-0 shut-out tossed by Derek Lowe. Hamels went 7.0, striking out 7, and walking 2. Lowe went 6.0 striking out 6, and walking 1; he was the player of the game. ATLs two runs came on a bases clearing 3B by Omar Infante w/ runners on 2nd and 3rd w/ 2 outs. Lowe scattered 7 hits over 6 innings, and at one point got out of a jam w/ runners on 2nd and 3rd and only 1 out. Ryan Howard had the only XBH, a 2B.

    ATL 2 9 0 - 1 XBH, 3B Omar Infante
    PHI 0 9 0 - 1 XBH, 2B Ryan Howard

    ------------------------------------------------------------

The 2nd gm I had much better offensive results. Werth put the Phillies on the board w/ a 3 run shot in the 1st, and wouldn't stop there as he went 3/4 w/ 3 RBI, and 3 RS (a triple shy of the cycle). Howard hit a solo shot in the 8th, a laser into RF, and Ibanez added a 2 run shot in the inning, and I opened the game wide open late after only having a 2 run lead.

    ATL 5 10 2 - XBH 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR
    PHI 9 14 0 - XBH 3 2B, 3 HR

Werth was the player of the game.

    Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

Just beat the Cardinals 10-7 in my Pirates 'Chise opener.

Adam and Andy Laroche hit back to back homers in the 11th innings, followed by a Steve Pearce HR that same inning.

    Ian Snell had a decent line: 6 IP 2 K 0 BB 2 ER W

Adam Wainwright was knocked out of the game in the 4th (7-2) at that time -- then Pujols hit a 3 run homer in the 9th to tie the game at 7-7.

im in the third game of my d backs fanchise. i won opening day, but brandon webb is on the 60 day dl with torn cartilage in his elbow. so i brought up jarrod parker from the minors. so far phillipe lopez is 0-8, but mark reynolds is 7-8 and 5 rbis, which leads the majors. (anyone notcie that the cpu will use the same starter twice in a row? i faced jeff francis in both games even though his stamina was low.)

MVP mods has a roster update already -- with some minor leaguers named. the Roster Maker is working on a roster that will name all players including minor leaguers.

With my little sister in town, was able to get only one game in over the weekend.

It was the rubber match of the Phillies vs Braves season opener.

Joe Blanton pitched an excellent game returning the favor on a shut-out of the Braves to take the series; after Derek Lowe shut-out Philly on opening day.

I've got a more detailed write-up of the game, and results here at my blog.

I'm liking the pitcher injuries in this game. Jurrjens and Soriano both were injured in my last game, and are now on the 15 day DL.

How many games do you have your franchise set to? I started off a franchise with the Dodgers and I have it set to 52 games, but I'm thinking of starting over and putting it at 162. I want to have realistic stats because baseball is a game that is based purely on stats. It'll be a challenge to try and play all 162 games, though.

I'm doing the 52 game season as well, I would like to do the entire thing but that is just way to many games for me.

JBH3: can you post or PM the slider values you are using for this franchise? I am interested in trying them myself, I like the scores you are getting.

Thanks in advance and I will keep reading your franchise!

104 game season w/ the Mets. I am 3-1 on the season: lost 6-7
won 16-6, won 10-6, won 10-6. All 4 of my starters have not made it past the 5th inning and all have at least a 9.00 ERA!!!
                    Gaming hard since 1988

I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.

                      Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

Playing a 162 game season with the Reds.

Playing with a combination of sliders from BFG, Guru, Bohzo, & SFGIANTSPFP.

Currently 1-0. Opening Day against Mets, I have Edison Volquez on mound against Johan Santana. I pitch a complete game with Volquez with 13 K's, 1 BB, and 6 hits.
                      Santana goes 8.2 innings, 4 K's, 5 BB (2 were intentional), 8 hits, 3 earned runs.

I have a 1-0 lead going into the 8th when Edwin Encarnacion hits a 3 run hr to right field as Santana finally becomes fatigue after throwing over 80 pitches.

** Santana had me on lock until he got tired, my strategy was to work as many counts as possible to tire him down.

I finish the game with over 90 pitches thrown.

Both teams had 1 error each

MOST REALISTIC GAME I'VE PLAYED ALL B/C OF THE SLIDERS I USE.

                        Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

I am 8-4 as Oakland right now. Jack Cust is an absolute beast for me right now and Giambi is not far behind. Holliday started the year in a huge slump for me even while everyone else was hitting while I continued to twick my sliders more.

I played a bunch of exhibition games so I could get my sliders just right for how I play and pretty much had them, but after the first or second game some error of some kind caused my custom sliders to all go to the same as if I was using the Legend sliders. I found out as I started playing a game and was getting rocked way too hard compared to my other games. So of course I forgot how I had certain things and it took me a few more games to really get it right again. At least to the point where all my games were pretty competitive and stats being as realistic as can be. I think I still give up way too many hits and maybe get a few too many myself, but will contonue to twick it as needed or as I improve in the game so I don't win too easy or don't lose all the time.

Only a few of my games have been real blowouts and most of those, losses and wins have been with big rallies late against relief pitchers. I really try and get the starters out as Oakland has been doing for years now. Have been able to come back in a few games because of it.

By the way...guess I should say this in the bug thread, but has anyone noticed that the A's alternative uniforms are messed up. When you pick their black jersey's they use a green hat and when you use the green jersey's they use the black hat. Makes me hate to even use them it looks so dumb.

Playing in my cubs franchise i've been doing fairly well. Went on a slump as of late tho, and lost 4 in a row. Of course on the 5th day when "Z" was pitching he threw another monster game he has 6 starts 5-0 record 1 no decision, and 2 shutouts. He's just a machine for me on the mound. I'm currently 20-10 record, and in first place 2 games ahead of the reds. Finally, been getting the hang of pitching, and am averaging about 5-10 K's per game depending on the pitcher with one great outing with Rich Harden with 12k's. Injuries are starting to set in for me a bit recently lost Rich Harden to a torn acl and is out for 128 days so its possible I could get him back by playoff time. Jeff Samardija is gone with a torn achilles, but should be back in about 60 days. Carlos Marmol has the reccuring injury bug thing on a groin pull where it tells me he's injured every day, but he's been pitching for about 2 weeks like that. All-in-all i'm having a great chise so far. My numbers seem to be fairly realistic Ryan Theriot's avg is a bit high still in the .420's but everyone else is starting to sink to normal levels. Homeruns seem to be right on track with my team leader's A-Ram, Soto both have 6 each putting them on pace for about 30 by years end which is pretty typical for them. Soriano still struggling to put up the power with only 2 so far. If I could just get better at base stealing I would be doing awesome. My team leader in steals is Joey Gathright who's a flyer, but i've had 9 steals, but been caught stealing 15x, but I will soldier on there until I get it right. Overall, i'm really enjoying the game even with the occasional ball sailing over the outfielders head, and the 1st baseman not stepping on the bag.

AzBearsFan, I feel your pain losing Harden. As an A's fan I was used to that in real life every year. I really do hope in real life he can get and stay healthy for your Cubs. I really liked him as a player and he would be a dominate pitcher if he could ever stay healthy. But then if he was that we wouldn't have needed to trade him, at least not until his contract was up.
