I got one gm in tonight and lost to CLE 7-5 after Johnny Peralta went deep twice off Gil Meche, and had 5 RBIs.

I did have 13 hits, and that was w/ contact previously at 10 w/ power at 70. I bumped contact down to 5, and moved power up some to compensate for the loss in contact.

This should hopefully produce less hits, but still get a good qty of XBHs went getting good wood on the ball.

Report back you're results as I'm eager to see what you get out of these.

You know what I copied and pasted BFJs sliders into my post because it was 0200 in the morning, and I didn't feel like typing out each slider's name; that way I could just enter MY value.

I might've overlooked that particular slider, and left at what it was from the copy and paste of BFJs.

But yea...I've used BFJs as a base, and went from there.

I'll check tonight to confirm what I actually have for "AI Batting Pitch Influence".

            Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

I use very similar sliders, however, one big difference I have is that Batting Contact for myself is 0 and it is at 25 for the CPU and the Pitch Speed is 75

I am trying to find a way to get the CPU more extra base hits while keeping there # of hits at a realistic pace.

How does a Pitch Speed of 95 effect both you and the CPU, at 75, I see a good amount of hard hit balls and it has cut down on the amount of CPU spectacular plays in the infield.

              From Stealyerface:

I would assume it means that if the IE has the guy rated a D for hitting a curveball, that throwing him one will result in a better chance that he makes bad contact or misses it completely. Raising this number means you can pitch to his weakness, and you'll never see him hit a pitch he is graded low on for power.

Lowering it to Zero means that that curveball he cannot hit doesn't matter. He'll smack whatever he sees in his zone the same.

So, if my guess is right, setting it at 50 would mean that if you throw him that curveball 10 times, he'll get good wood half the time...

Of course, without actually knowing what the heck the sliders do...it is my guess.

I had pitch speed at 75 too, and was barely getting any CPU XBHs. If you up it to 95 you'll see the amount of XBHs you'd expect given the circumstances (pitcher matchups etc).

I don't get the complaint some have that upping the pitch speed makes a change-up no different than a FB. I miss horribly on change-ups still (and it is actually the toughest pitch for me to hit), and the CPU does too.

Contact at 0 for the CPU, w/ pitch speed at 95, allows me to see more swings and misses that would otherwise be first pitch contact swing thanks to the agressive CPU.

With contact at 0 for the CPU, its not like they will never make contact, it actually gives you a realistic swing/miss rate.

Too many as a user. If you want to calculate it you can go to my blog. All the Phillies games were prior to the sliders I posted in this thread.

                  Ok...enough slider talk in here...

                  Let's keep it on topic.

Just lost a game to the Padres. Peavy held me to 2 runs lost 7-2 and to make matters worse I lost Santana in the 1st inning for 21 days. Mets are now 4-2 on the season.

You want a reason other than because I want to?

                            1. They suck and are a challenge
                            2. I want to build them into a contender

I don't think you are breaking any rules. I ran a season w/ the Tigers and Indians before. I generally run an American league team and a National league team though.

Of course on the 5th day when "Z" was pitching he threw another monster game he has 6 starts 5-0 record 1 no decision, and 2 shutouts. He's just a machine for me on the mound. I'm currently 20-10 record, and in first place 2 games ahead of the reds. Finally, been getting the hang of pitching, and am averaging about 5-10 K's per game depending on the pitcher with one great outing with Rich Harden with 12k's. Injuries are starting to set in for me a bit recently lost Rich Harden to a torn acl and is out for 128 days so its possible I could get him back by playoff time. Jeff Samardija is gone with a torn achilles, but should be back in about 60 days. Carlos Marmol has the reccuring injury bug thing on a groin pull where it tells me he's injured every day, but he's been pitching for about 2 weeks like that. All-in-all i'm having a great chise so far. My numbers seem to be fairly realistic Ryan Theriot's avg is a bit high still in the .420's but everyone else is starting to sink to normal levels. Homeruns seem to be right on track with my team leader's A-Ram, Soto both have 6 each putting them on pace for about 30 by years end which is pretty typical for them. Soriano still struggling to put up the power with only 2 so far. If I could just get better at base stealing I would be doing awesome. My team leader in steals is Joey Gathright who's a flyer, but i've had 9 steals, but been caught stealing 15x, but I will soldier on there until I get it right. Overall, i'm really enjoying the game even with the occasional ball sailing over the outfielders head, and the 1st baseman not stepping on the bag.

                                Update on my Cubs Franchise:

Well i'm at game 50 over half-way to the all-star break. Currently i've led my cubbies to a 32-18 start, and am running away with the division with the pirates 5 games back. Zambrano, is continuing on his Cy Young season leading the league in Wins, Strikeouts, Innings Pitched, and ERA sometimes he is just nearly unhittable. Other pitchers are more human!! LOL! Soriano, who had really been slumping for me since my game 30 went 12 games without a HR, and was something like 6 for 60 in that time frame. However, over the past 8 games he's gone on a tear knocking in 9 HR's, and a load of RBI's still a long way's off the HR leader who is Cabrerra with 24 HR's in 50 games which is crazy Fonzi has (16). Still struggling with stealing as I get thrown out way more than I am successful. Trade to note the Astro's had put Michael Bourne on the block, and I landed him for Fukudome, and a AAA prospect which has been great for me since I couldn't get a hit with Fuku to save my life was 4 for 46 with him on the season. Just finished a 3 game stretch at wrigley against the Dodgers, and all 3 games I went into the 9th with a 5 run game, and all 3 they rallied in the 9th to either tie or come within one of tieing. I managed to hold on to win all 3, but the 3rd game I was really sweating it in the 9th when I was up 1, and they had the bases loaded with no outs, and Marmol on the mound, but Marmol made me proud, and struck out the next 3 hitters. The game definitely has its faults, but they are not nearly bad enough to keep me from having fun with it. Will update again in about 30 games or so.
