    Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

Blah, just lost a 11-7 game to the A's with my Mariner's to push my record to W 2-3 L. I'm stinking up the place. My Bullpen is a mess. Lowe is my only consistent reliever. Had an 8-4 lead going into the bottom of the 7th, but bullpen blew it and allowed 7 runs.

Griffey and A-Rod (acquired by a trade of Beltre and some prospects) are leading the team in hitting, with 4HR's a piece. Jr. has 10 RBI through 5 games, as A-Rod has 5 RBI and hitting .473.

Overall, not the start that I was wanting, but I'll take it. Check my sig for the link to my dm360 page.

      Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

I finally got a game in this morning. I lost to Atlanta 3-2 in 10 innings. I swear the throw was in time at the plate!!! I was so mad. I have lost 5 of 8 with my Mets. I just signed Gary Sheffield and he will make his apperance tomorrow playing Right Field. I am now 11-7 and in 2nd place behind Atlanta.
      Gaming hard since 1988

I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.

        Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

I'm playing even though - I''ll restart with new rosters and probably sim through april.

Anyway - I won a 7-6 game last night on a thriller of a game each team had 14 hits and lidge was shaky but managed to hold on for the save getting Beltran to line out.

I then lost 7-5 to Atlanta after givign up a 5 run first.

I had a chance in the 9th to tie it but back to back pop outs ruined it.

          http://www.osatwork.com/JBH3/blog/25...ranchise-blog/

Updated my blog...I've posted the league standings from my 'chise through April.

Go and see how your favorite team is doing in my 'chise. The Pirates are 1st in the NL Central after april w/ a 15-7 record.

          Who's playing w/ the O's?

          I control PHI/WAS/BAL/KC. I've played 20+ games w/ Philly, 5 w/ KC, and 3 now w/ BAL.

I really like playing w/ the Orioles. I called up Radhames Liz in May and he is just a flamethrower, throwing a mid/high 90's fastball, and having a nice 2-seam, circle-change, a hard slider, and a curve. My first outing w/ him I got a QS but a L, and struck out 9 while scattering a few hits and allowing 1 run (vs TB).

Played my first gm in the NEW Yankee stadium last night w/ a pitching matchup of Liz vs Sabathia. Sabathia was lights out. My only hit came on a Felix Pie bloop single to shallow center; Jeter saved a few hits too w/ two diving stabs. Liz had only surrendered 2 earned runs through 6, and thanks to two errors the Yanks got out to a 5-0 lead w/ Liz on the mound.

Posada took him deep in the 7th and I pulled him w/ NYY already leading 6-0. He wasn't able to K as many, but still struck out 3, and had opportunities to strike out more w/ favorable counts.

For all my Phillies Phans...I've got Adam Eaton as my 5th starter on the O's - they signed him to a ML deal IRL. Facing the Royals I got 8 K's out of him, and an 8-4 win. He was pretty dominant too, and got the CG.

Anyways...anyone playing as the O's, if you haven't already call up Liz. If you have, how are you doing w/ him?

Yea...I've noticed quite a few things.

I was real thrown off playing w/ the 70 success/75 power sliders after the patch, and the way pitching was going w/ those sliders too (w/ a lot of user pitching sliders maxed out), I was hitting more batters than ever and throwing too many balls.

I started from All-Star and I've made a set which is a Hybrid default All-Star (and you can still unlock cards). With this set I actually induce a high pitch count, getting up to 90 pitches thru 7 innings, and seeing good PCs w/ the CPU too. I've homered w/ Jayson Werth, and Adam Jones, and hit balls hard and been shutdown - as CC one hit me w/ BAL.

The CPU is definitely taking more pitches and drawing that PC up, and contact and user hitting has filtered out to more of a normal paced offense.

I've seen some quirky things w/ the patch too, as I posted in the impressions thread, but all in all I'm getting it to play good games.

What's better than being the victim of a 1 hit shutout by CC?

Ok JBH I need those sliders. I'm at my wits end trying to get the right batting sliders post patch for your old sliders.

I'm doing a multi-team franchise, so all the teams are user controedl so I play with all the teams. I tried to base all my lineups/rotations on the preview section that they had on ESPN's baseball page. So it looks like this:
                      1. Guthrie
                      2. Uehara
                      3. Eaton
                      4. Simon
                      5. Hendrickson

I think I have Liz in AAA. I will call him up.

Controlling all teams is too much work...4 is more my speed.

Hendrickson had an ERA in the 7's for me after April so I sent him down to AAA, sent Sarfate down too because his ERA was up in the 5's and avg agg. was horrid.

That made way for Liz and Eaton, and I moved Albers from the rotation to the pen - LR role. I've got Baez on the block, but no offers for him. I need some arms in the pen, and will likely call Sarfate back up since he throws hard.

This O's team is fun, and everyone in the lineup can hit in their own right. I'd like to try and compete w/ the AL East w/ this current make-up of O's and feel adding a top starter would be a good start.

Should I trade for Peavy? Maybe send a capable minor league bat, Brian Matusz, and another prospect?

The mode is sort of bare bones, but the fun gameplay is great.

You can't sign staff, hire/fire coaches, there are some editing limits (which I've yet to reach), you can't edit cpu teams lineups, no Rule 5, no 40 man roster, no draft in June, and some have reported issues w/ rookies (I haven't completed a season yet), no owner goals like in yrs past.

All that and the core game is really fun, and franchise is still playable; you just need both patches - especially the 1st one.

MLB.com is nice, love the new player cards, can edit contracts, play any game you want, control all 30 teams, injuries are done better but there have been some reported issues. Toggling CPU trading ON/OFF is still broken, but the CPU has made a trade yet and I'm in mid-May; in 2k8 or yrs past there would've been at least a few. You can leave CPU trades on w/ confidence.
