Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
I've hit back to back HRs with Manny and Howard in back to back games so that's a bit of an acomplishment I guess. I gotta re-do all the sliders now, nothing but grounders and flyouts after the patch, just made them swing even more at even worse pitches and let the ocasional good one they get go by.
Renteria and Zito are still on the block. Maybe I should try trading both to one team.Comment

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
Hey peep's...for people who don't like seeing huge hit totals in this game w/ no HRs, check out this boxscore from a gm yesterday.
Box score for the Oakland Athletics vs. Los Angeles Angels MLB game from April 7, 2009 on ESPN. Includes all pitching and batting stats.
Notice Oakland's 16 hits and only 6 runs and 4 doubles.

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
52 game season franchise mode for me. I'm 4-3 with the Mets.
Johan Santana and John Maine bounced back from rough 1st starts to pitch strong in their second.
Santana pitch 8 innings of 8k ball against the lowly nats (Pitching to Adam Dunn is positively hilarious).
Maine Followed up with a typical Maine performance: 6 innings, 3 runs...bate helped him out in a 5-3 win.
Delgado has gotten out of the gate fast with 5 homers, Reyes, Bletran are heating up, and David Wright is out of gate cold with a .174 batting average.
Pedro MArtinze is looking tempting to sign.
I like the 52 games. Puts a premium on each and every start from my pitchers. I dont like simming games, and want to have multiple seasons, so this will be perfect for me.Comment

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
I played a game last night, but never got around to posting the sliders. If I get on tonight I will...I promise.
I got thrashed by the Yanks last night thanks to Adam Eaton's gopher ball tendencies. Yanks beat me 10-1, w/ my only run being a solo HR by Aubrey Huff. I had 10 or 11 hits, w/ a couple of doubles mixed in, and had runners in scoring pos. often but AJ Burnett would get himself out of the jam by inducing the flyball or getting one of only 3 K's he had against me. Brian Roberts killed a lot of my chances to score w/ his 0-4 day, and I continue to struggle w/ Luke Scott.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
It is all good, don't worry about it, this patch definitely switched a lot of things up for sure. I am slowly get the hang of it, toning down the hits is my main concern right now. Like too many runs and hits, but I can work with that.Philadelphia Phillies

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
What a game I just had...
Phillies @ Reds. Blanton vs Volquez. Blanton allows a run in the 1st, pitches through 3, but has to leave the game in the 4th w/ an injured finger. He had 3 Ks up to that point. Odalis Perez comes on in relief, and pitches a scoreless 4th. As the Phillies I get 4 hits through 5 innings w/ no runs...all singles. In the bottom of the 5th w/ Cincy having a runner on 2nd, I leave a curve out over the plate for Ramon Hernandez (damn gesture) who kills lefties, and crushes this pitch for a 3-0 Cincy lead. Through 7 Volquez K's 6, allowing 6 hits and no runs. Weathers comes on in the 8th, and pitches a scoreless 8th.
With Cordero into to close it, this is where things get good. He gets the first out quickly retiring Jayson Werth. Ibanez gets on after a misplayed ball in the OF, Feliz singles, Matt Stairs making his 1st start @ C singles, and we've got our 1st run.
Coste PHs for Chad Durbin - who pitched two scoreless/hitless innings K'ing 2 - Coste is retired for the 2nd out, Feliz is on 2nd, Stairs gets lifted for PR Eric Bruntlett @ 1st.
Rollins' AB turns into a battle, getting to 2-2, and fending off 5 pitches for foulballs. Finally Cordero makes his mistake and Rollins sends a 2B opposite field which hits off the wall, and ties the game. Victorino hits a hard liner to third, and reaches first safely, runners at the corners. Utley would be the hero, squeaking a seeing eye single by Hairston and Encarnacion; Rollins scores. Cordero gets lifted and Jared Burton comes on to face Howard. Howard doubles Victorino scores, but Utley is thrown out at home trying to score...But it doesn't end there...still have to save the game.
In comes Lidge, and first pitch Brandon Phillips jacks a 2b to left hitting off the wall. Votto up next sends a warning track fly ball to left for the first out...I nearly crapped my pants thinking it was gone. Next batter, Edwin Encarnacion, gets hit. Jay Bruce comes up w/ runners at the corners, but w/ a well place 2 seamer I get him to ground to second, only Bruce beats out the throw to first...2 down, Phillips has scored, score is 5-4, and Ramon Hernandez is coming up. He gets hit by a pitch......thanks 2nd patch...Chris Dickerson....can he be the hero?
Nope. Lidge strikes him out after falling to a 0-2 count and getting the backdoor slider!

52 game seasons
9-21 Boston Red Sox. plainly put, I cant hit. I have a .222 batting average.
after a rough start and tons of injuries (first 10 games gave up about 8 runs a game), my starters are now settling in and keeping me in games. I managed to slash the era from 8 to about 4.5 a game. but unfortunately I cant score more than 4.Comment

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
I had a great game last night. I won 14-8 it was the 1st time I scored more than 4 runs in over 10 games. Sheff hit 2 HR's one to dead center in his 1st ab as a Met (I just signed him) it was back and forth as Rollins hit a Grand Slam in the 4th to take the lead 5-4. I came back with Sheff's 2nd HR and took a 7-5 lead, and Philly came back again and took an 8-7 lead but, my 7 run 8th was too much to over come and I won. however my game froze and the game was a waste of my time. I just need want to hit something.Gaming hard since 1988
I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.Comment

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
I got trounced 10-2 in my 4th game of the season, Mariner's vs Twins. Hit a monster shot in the 8th with Jr, that I thought was going to be gone easily, but it was the highest pop fly I have ever seen. Literally took forever to come down, and when it did, it hit the top of the fence in RF, and dropped back into play, lol. I was between 2nd and 3rd when the ball finally hit the wall, and ended up with a stand up triple.
Had a great pitching outing going with Silvia until the 6th, when one error, led to a span of 5 runs... from there, I was clearly rattled, couldn't fight my way out of it.Twitter - WTF_OS
