    Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

The 5th spot on my rotation is the hot seat, haha, I have had Kendrick, Happ, Cabera, and now, I saw Clay Buccholz on the trade block, so I couldnt deny myself. I traded Cabera and Toombs(I signed him in the early season) for Buchholz. He is my 5th starter. He was in the minors, so I figured, was worth it.

      Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

I was trying to get players of equal or lesser value for Renteria/Zito. Turns out I should've been trying to get better. After jokingly shopping around both at the same time (like try to get Hanley,Puljos etc.) I found I can get the 2nd best player on almost any team for those 2 and in a few cases the best. Seems more like it'd be a trade deadline thing. Like if the Yankees are still sucking I could trade for Jeter. Can get any of the top 3 from the Cubs too.

Wow. You want to take those players from their teams?

I brought Adam Eaton up to be my #5 at the beginning of May since Mark Hendrickson ended April w/ an ERA in the 7's. Eaton's first start as an O, was in KC, striking out 8 and winning 12-4. But that was vs the Royals...his last two starts vs div rivals of TB and NYY saw him getting crushed for at least 6 runs.

I didn't really feel like there was anything available in the minors in terms of a major league ready arm. With that said, I made a trade, tell me what you think.

The Pirates have had Tom Gorzelanny on the block for about a month, and a LH SP is something I could use - since Hill is my only one. Gorzelanny is rated a 78, which is probably a little high for him now considering his recent real life struggles, but nevertheless he's a FA at the end of the yr and we can just assume Pitt doesn't resign him.

          Sooo...

          Pittsburgh sends LHSP Tom Gorzelanny

in exchange for Prospects Troy Patton, Jake Arrietta, and minor leaguer C. Yee. All are signed through at least the next 2 years.

          Thoughts?
I know its different than real life but it seems like you got raped in that trade. Patton and Arrieta are the future here in baltimore. Nice to hear someone using the O's.

3-0 so far in my Giants Franchise after I made some slider adjustments to start over.

Padres are easy picking, but I still need to find a bat preferrably at 1B, 3B, or Catcher. Having trouble finding anyone available.

I would think that Molina catching, TI at first and Sandoval at third would be pretty decent. I dont play with the giants but in real life they are all pretty good hitters.

Not really a strong home run threat team though. A decent homerun bat would be appreciated. Still having trouble thinking of some available names.

Matt Holliday I know is gonna get traded by the deadline. The will be out of the playoff race and he has 1 year left on his contract.

Adrian Beltre is another good candidate and fits your need at 3rd. Sandoval could play first.

Good suggestions, I'm having a hard time though satisfying what the computer desires trade wise for either of them. Usually the computer wants you to deplete your team for one player.

I know Patton was once considered a high prospect coming over to BAL in the Tejeda deal, but his stock has kinda fallen hasn't it?

Gorzelanny is still young at 26, and if as a user I can pitch effectively w/ him then it's a pretty good deal...I mean what's not to like. He's a lefty w/ a mid 90's FB rated at 82, a curve at 74, slider at 74, and a change (63).

I'm currently 20-28, but only 4.5 gms out of 1st since the Yanks are 25-24 and both BOS and TB are at .500. SP's 1-4 I'm pretty solid at, and I figure adding another lefty is top priority but instead of going w/ a vet adding some youth w/ Gorzelanny, albeit letting prospects go, isn't a bad move.

Id say yes and no. He had labrum surgery last year and they are still high on him. He had a good spring and looked good in his first start and Andy MacPhail always has said he expects him to come back better than ever. But like I said in the Rate A Trade thread, if it works out and Gorzelanny is pitching well for you and helps you get in or at least get close. Then Id say it was worth the risk. And like you said hes still young so its not like a dump for a 35 year old pitcher who has no more upside.

Gorzelanny made his debut @ hm vs DET. It resulted in a 2-1 loss for the Orioles.

I can't fault Gorzelanny. Only mistake he made was giving up a HR to Carlos Guillen on a slider that caught too much of the plate. He pitched a CG, allowing 8 hits, walking 1, and striking out 2. I thought it was a pretty good showing by him as the Tigers have a glut of righthanded bats, and hit left handed pitching pretty well.

He had no run support though as I could only manage 5 hits off of Edwin Jackson - and 6 total. My loan run came after back to back doulbes by Mora and Scott.

Mora had a triple w/ no out to lead off the 7th inning, and I couldn't get him home. Fernando Rodney pitched 1 1/3 of scorless/hitless ball and Zumaya allowed a hit to Adam Jones to start the 9th, but retired the next 3 batters to end the game.

I'm now 20-30 and on the verge of getting swept by DET (4 gms). The first gm of the series I simmed w/ Rich Hill on the mound, and he was crushed. The 2nd gm I lost in 11 innings 5-2; after having two opportunities to score in the 9th and 10th.

I haven't played w/ the Phillies in about 14 games, and they're now 25-24 and a 1.5 back from the division lead.

I figure to play every one of their June games w/ a tough bunch of gamescoming up during this month:

                              - 10 gm road trip @SD (3), @LAD (4), @ NYM (3).
                              - 9 gm homestand BOS, TOR, BAL.
                              - 7 gm road (extending into JUL) @ TB, @ ATL.

I'm gunning for 15 wins or more for PHI, over the course of June which would improve me to 41-35.

Right now I am 9-2 with the Angels. I made some trades. I traded John Lackey & Juan Rivera to the Dbacks for Brandon Webb. Then I dealt Brandon Wood & Kelvim Escobar to the Nationals for Adam Dunn. I need a power bat in the lineup and Dunn was the perfect fit. I don't think I will make any more trades until later on in the season.

Ervin Santana is looking great so far, 3-0 ,1.16 era ,20 K's, 0 BB. Could make a run for the CY young
