Started a new 'chise (bought a new PS3). Going the default All-Star route with AISZT at zero as the only tweak. Won the opener against Halladay, 5-2. Was 3-2 in the 8th before Granderson hit a 2-run inside-the-park HR. Woot. Verlander out 36 days with broken finger, though.

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
I got trounced 10-2 in my 4th game of the season, Mariner's vs Twins. Hit a monster shot in the 8th with Jr, that I thought was going to be gone easily, but it was the highest pop fly I have ever seen. Literally took forever to come down, and when it did, it hit the top of the fence in RF, and dropped back into play, lol. I was between 2nd and 3rd when the ball finally hit the wall, and ended up with a stand up triple.
Had a great pitching outing going with Silvia until the 6th, when one error, led to a span of 5 runs... from there, I was clearly rattled, couldn't fight my way out of it.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Oh yea...made a trade in my 'chise.
KC - Sends RP Juan Cruz (78 OVR, 1yr remaining)
to
PHI - For LHRP Jake Woods (27), and two minor leaguers.
W/ the move Jimmy Gobble's 10 something ERA goes to AAA, and Woods (71 ovr) assumes a left MR role; PHI sends Dave Borkowski back to AAA.
Good for KC as they get something in return for a player I wouldn't have resigned to them, and get a younger RP w/ some decent stuff and a few yrs still remaining on his contract - at far less than what Cruz was getting paid.
Since KC is one of four teams I control. I sort of auditioned him when playing as KC. His 2-seamer is REAL nice.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
As for real life, I tend to blame coaching. He came in with a 101-mph 4-seamer, a 94-mph 2-seamer, a pretty decent change, and a 78-mph knuckle-curve that had about 14 inches of drop to it. Worked really fast. Then all of a sudden, I'm hearing the staff wants him to slow down, throw with less velocity (supposedly to gain accuracy), and ... dude, whatever. I mean, what do I know, but when you have talent like that, I'd say just let 'er rip. Too much babying these guys, man. Look at him now.I am become death

I don't know, man. He's my best pitcher by far.

Let his arm fall off, have TJ, and then come back to be a accuracy/control pitcher.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
YO JBH, sounds like everything is going well in the 'chise. You know who isn't too shabby coming out of the pen, Tascher. Dude saved my butt against Nationals. I am trying to find a perfect medium with my sliders. I am currently on a 3 game losing streak. 2 to the Nationals, and one to the Dodgers. I lost to the Dodgers 12-9, then I lost to the Nationals 5-4, and then I lost to them again 1-0. Lannahan threw a 3 hit gem against me. His curveball was unhittable for sure. Currently, I am winning 2-0, so I am trying not to get swept by the Nats. I cut Gary Sheffield and signed him to the Mets, and moved that OF from Atlanta to the Tigers. No moves really for me recently, but this game keeps on getting better and better.Philadelphia Phillies

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
Just absolutely got thumped vs the A's, 12-9. Went into the 7th with a 9-4 lead, and then everything came unglued. Tried to rob some hits at the warning track instead of making the smart play off the wall, and let them get some momentum. It was all over from there. I hit my first Grand Slam though... with Beltre. Very nice feeling and pretty nice little celebration.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
Playing as mainly Baltimore right now, this team is a lot of fun.
Koji Uehara is nasty...He's got a filthy forkball and screwball. I was dazzling the Nats w/ it. Anyways I'm 19-26 w/ the O's. After bringing Radhames Liz up, that's solidfied my 1-4 starters.
I brought Adam Eaton up to be my #5 at the beginning of May since Mark Hendrickson ended April w/ an ERA in the 7's. Eaton's first start as an O, was in KC, striking out 8 and winning 12-4. But that was vs the Royals...his last two starts vs div rivals of TB and NYY saw him getting crushed for at least 6 runs.
I didn't really feel like there was anything available in the minors in terms of a major league ready arm. With that said, I made a trade, tell me what you think.
The Pirates have had Tom Gorzelanny on the block for about a month, and a LH SP is something I could use - since Hill is my only one. Gorzelanny is rated a 78, which is probably a little high for him now considering his recent real life struggles, but nevertheless he's a FA at the end of the yr and we can just assume Pitt doesn't resign him.
Sooo...
Pittsburgh sends LHSP Tom Gorzelanny
in exchange for Prospects Troy Patton, Jake Arrietta, and minor leaguer C. Yee. All are signed through at least the next 2 years.

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
I have the game installed on the HDD and haven't had a problem since game 4 of the season. It seems to happen if I play a game strait thru, I usually save around inning 5 or 6 and finish it later. I really sucked that last time because it is the only time I've had to play all week, I hope to get a game in tonight and will save during inning 5.Gaming hard since 1988

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
9-6 so far, in my 52 game season franchise.
I'm 1.5 games ahead of atlanta and 2 games ahead of philly.
Playing on default all star. Having a wide variety of games. As fatigue sets in, my offensive stats are balancing out.
Santana is chugging along at 2-1 with a .74 whip. Ollie Perez has been good, but has only 1 win to show for it. Pelfry has been up and down, and I am bloody awful wtih Maine right now. his era is over 5..
K-Rod is absolutely nails.Comment

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
I have started out the season 1-5. Seriously, for some reason I can not pitch with Zambrano. He got ROCKED in his 2 starts. Every other SP is fine, but big Z gave up 8 runs and 10 runs in his last two outings. I don't really know what I'm doing wrong with him.Comment

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
Lincecum leading the league in wins,no losses, leading in ERA without giving up an earned run, leading in strikeouts, least walks given up and least hits given up despite also leading in innings pitched and pitching 4 complete games wasn't enough to win pitcher of the month. Instead it goes to the Astros closer who has 2 wins,no losses,6 saves and has apprently pitched a total of 3 innings. Even then Wilson on my Giants is 5/5 in saves.
Then we have Merkin Valdez, leading all rookies in wins,no losses, leading all rookies in ERA,least walks given up,3rd in oppent batting average while being 2nd in strikeouts.
Yet rookie pitcher of the month goes to Chad Fox of the Cubs. He's pitched 8 innings with a 2.25 ERA,2 wins and is only 1/2 in save opportunities.
Both Lincecum and Valdez would be on the all-star team right now though.
Players of the month were Grady Sizemore & Ryan Howard. Rookie players of the month were Travis Snyder and Cameron Maybin.
Division leaders are...
AL
Rays,Indians,A's and the Jays would have the wild card.
NL
Phillies,Cubs,Giants (of course) and the Braves would have the wild card.
Both east divisions have 3 teams with winning records and the Red Sox are close at 11-12.
Dbacks,Rangers and Mariners are tied for the worst record at 6-17. Besides myself of course the best record is the Indians at 17-6.
Team overall leaders:
Hits
Rays,Indians,Yankees
HR
Giants,Indians,White Sox
RBI
Indians,Cubs,Jays
AVG
Giants,Indians,Cubs
Steals
Rays,Angels,Tigers
ERA
Giants,Phillies,A's
K's
Rays,Reds,Red Sox
Finally after the patch I no longer have the most errors commited or the worst fielding %,both now belong to the Mets and I'm 2nd last. The Yankees overtook the Brewers for least errors and best %.
Still haven't been able to get rid of Renteria and/or Zito.Comment
