I generally keep up with the big transactions (Griffey to Seatlle, Pudge to the Astros, etc.) other than that no. I sign my own free agents that I personally think make sence. I still haven't decided to sign Schilling only because of his retirement.

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
Doesn't seem right to me and it's the most in the league.
I had a no hitter going last game. Into the 5th it was. Then that thing happend for only the 2nd time where I press B and instead of throwing the ball to the first baseman they attempt to run it over. Never gave up another hit but intentionally plunked 2 people in the head.Comment

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
Hey JB and others on here, when transactions happen in real life MLB, do you guys make the corresponding move in your franchises? I'm just curious cuz I dont know if I want to do this in mine when I start it. I'm sure that would be a lot of work checking the transactions and making that move every single day.
It was one of the things I liked about the NHL Head Coach game. It started your franchise AT THE DRAFT. Gave you a lot more options to customize your team before the season started. I wish more sports game franchise modes started you a few months before the season, and not opening day. Not a knock against 2k9 here, as this is the rule and not the exception for most sports games from most companies.
As far as other people going to other teams...that's what happens. My franchise is a little reality of its own. Like if Jeter goes down for the rest of the year, and the Yanks want a blockbuster trade for a top SS...that's already going to screw up the "real" rosters.Last edited by ramenite; 04-02-2009, 01:45 AM....Comment

For instance...I tried to replicate certain key players injuries i.e. Billy Wagner, A-Rod, Tim Hudson...by putting them in the minors. But when you start pressing along through you 'chise you forget about 'spotchecking' a roster, and next thing you know you're facing the Mets and Wagner is coming in to pitch the 7th....oh well, I just let it be, and move on.
With the 4 teams I control, I try and replicate their roster moves to date. Like releasing Wily Mo Pena from the Nats a couple days ago, or Odalis Perez etc. I released Geoff Jenkins from Philly as they let him go, and I also released Shef - although I don't control the Tigers.
I signed certain FA's like Pudge or Chad Cordero to their respective new teams, and I try to keep things up like that.
W/ that being said though I also try whatever (w/in realism) to improve my respective teams. For instance, Odalis Perez was just sitting on the FA pool thru the 2nd wk of May so I signed him to Philly to fill a need for a bullpen arm who can possibly spot start.
Basically I look at it like this. If the player/move is big enough to impact the success of the team I do it. Houston adding Pudge is enough of an impact for me to make that move, Cordero becoming the closer in Seattle is in the same light - so I make these moves happen.
Hope that helps.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
AL East team error totals last year
Orioles: 100
Rays: 90
Red Sox: 85
Jays: 84
Yankees: 83
Not 162+,selecting a few other random teams the worst appears to be the Nationals with 123 and that's not even 1 per game.
2-0 win my last game in spite of absolute brain dead AI base running. 2 outs, fly ball to the fence and the runner at first won't go. Changing from smart hold to never hold doesn't fix it either. Also took the starter out one inning early by mistake. I had to use Zito for one and he almost blew it.
On a side note while I was at the stats screen I looked up the batting stats. The Indians have 142 RBI with 145 total in 17 games! Tigers are 2nd with 97 and 101. The Indians have even have 16-10 and 9-8 losses. 4th in ERA too.Comment

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
Does anyone make any big/blockbuster trades? Like trades that may be unrealistic, but you made the trade because you just HAD to have that player on your team? For example, trading for Longoria, or Hanley Ramirez and etc.Comment

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
Sent Ryan Doumit and Paul Maholm to the O's for Matt Wieters. Yeah, it was their top prospect, but they got a decent C, and quality leftie. Wieters' contract is a 6 year deal for peanuts. So he'll help the rebuilding cause by getting quality cheap..IF he pans out. But even now, he's a 75 vs. Doumit's 82.
Maholm became somewhat expendable when I brought back Ollie Perez for stint #2 with the Bucs. That was a FA pickup.
Brandon Moss couldn't catch a cold. I thought it was the OF glitch after the patch, but no...he just sucks. Traded for Scott Podsednik straight up. He's not really rated any better, but at least he can catch a ball.
There wasn't any money left for anything else. I had some in the budget, but you need money for the IE reports. Pirates need all the help they can get.Last edited by ramenite; 04-04-2009, 10:21 PM....Comment

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
I anyone experiencing issues with batting stances being set to generic when a guy is sent to the minors and then recalled? For example, you send Ken Griffey Jr down (just as a test) and everything is fine. Then you recall him and his stance goes to generic?
I've read about this in several forums and was wondering if it is indeed a problem.GT: Herkyalert

Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS
10 innings 1-0 win Phils over Mets.
Phils - 1- 6 - 0
Mets - 0 - 4 - 0
Was an awesome game.
Not a lot of hitting. Need to tweak some more but I tweaked and now pitching is a bit easy.... needs to check my gesture settings, I think i moved it down too low.
I'm restarting when Opening Day rosters are out but having a blast.Comment
