I have been living with her for 3 years now, haha, she knows I get my videogame time, but once you have kids....
Got a 19 month old and am married.

My wife is fairly tired from the work day being a HS teacher.

Once her work day is over we typically spend time together as a family around 8pm when we put the little guy down, and after 9pm or so I ususally have the night to myself as my wife is tuckered out from her day.

Yea I basically only get Xbox time in when the fam is sleeping too.

      Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

feel you guys on the family = less gaming time. I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 1 1/2 year old. I haven't played since Thursday or Friday because of sleeping issues. My youngest thinks it's fun to stay up untill 11:45 while I get up at 5:30 to hit the gym before work. I think I will be able to get a couple games in tonight.
      Gaming hard since 1988

I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.

Updated my sliders on my blog...

        http://www.operationsports.com/JBH3/...-blog-sliders/

First, I love this set of sliders...It's brought my level of play the biggest challenge and has lessened my insane amount of hits (singles). The CPU offense is great w/ these too. So far I've lost my last two series' to MIL and FLA. I'll post all those results on my blog tomorrow (really).

What I'm beginning to notice w/ these though is that due to the AI Pitch Success @ 70 it'll be harder to hit the pitcher (more challenging ABs), but the pitcher will also be MUCH LESS wild. I noticed instantly in a game, that when I moved this slider from 70 to 65 (AI Pitch Success), the CPU threw a wild pitch that advanced my runner to 2nd. Turning it back immediately I didn't get another WP or PB the rest of the game (4 inn.).

With that said, I've maxed out user PWR to 100 because since it's harder to hit in general the guys capable of 15/20 HRs are not getting ANY. Haven't hit a single one w/ Rollins or Victorino, and I've had some hard hit warning track and/or off the wall hits w/ Werth and Ibanez but no HRs since using these settings.

I'm basically getting HRs from Utley and Howard and THAT IS IT.

I like the game w/ these though, and will continue to get some more games under my belt w/ 'em like this for now, but I'll also be toying around w/ User PWR, Contact, and AI Pitch Success to find that happy medium.

        --------------------------------------------------------------

        Question:

Have you all had issues w/ Saves? Meaning that stat isn't being tracked correctly.

I just beat WAS in the 1st gm of a 3 gm series (to wrap up April), and brought Lidge in to pitch the 9th w/ the score 5-3.

He didn't allow a hit OR run, and should've gotten the save but he still only has two??? This should've been his 3rd.

        What have you all seen?

9-4 with the Mets I am struggling to hit right now. Pedro let up runs in 5 innings and I lost 5-1 vs. FLA

I have a 2 year old and a 10 and 12 year old. (I am known around our town as coach, as I coach my kids in everything, basketball, softball, baseball, ect.)
Anyway my wife typically goes to bed when the 2 year old does at 9pm. Once she goes to bed my gaming starts. I usually play till around 12.
On the weekends she goes to bed around 11 or so and I stay up playing till around 2. I really never have slept much, I dont need 7 or 8 hours of sleep like my wife does. I know it is an exciting life but someone has to live it!

I got in 2 games with your sliders last night JBH3.
I won the first game 3-2 in 11 innings, I am the Reds in my season and this game was at the Cubs. Edwin hit a HR to lead of the 11th. I really liked the challenge of trying to hit in this game. I had 11 hits and the cpu had 12.
The second game was completely different, I won 8-3. I scored 6 runs in the 3rd inning including hitting 2 HRS, one again with Edwin and the other with Jerry Hairston! This was Hairston's first of the year! So maybe your concern over hitting HRs with nonpower hitters is not as bad as you think??? I had 13 hits but I had 8 of them in the 6 run 3rd inning. The only thing I didnt like about this game was the cpu hitting. The Cubs only had 5 hits off of Micah Owings!?? This was Micah's 3rd start of the year and he got pounded in the other two. Soriano had 3 of the 5 Cubs hits including 2 HRs and all 3 RBI's. Besided him the Cubs just didnt hit the ball hard at all!
So in conclusion after 2 games I am not for sure what to think yet!! lol
Again the cpu did not hit me very well in either game, I will need a few more games to test these out. Once thing that might have affected the Cubs was that when I went in and checked out the hot/cold hitters before the Cubs series, 6 of the 8 Cubs regulars where in a cold streak. Maybe this is why they didnt hit me very well. Only Soriano and Soto were not on the cold streak list and they where the only 2 that hit me the whole series.
On a side note Edwin Encarnarcion is killing the ball for me and he is on the Hot list.
He is hitting .375 with 9 HRs and 19 RBI's through 16 games.

I am not having a problem with the game not counting saves, Cordero is 7 for 7 in saves and it has counted all 7 of them. The thing I did notice was on the front team page on the MLB.COM screen it says he only has 5, but when you actually go into the players stats page it has his correct amount of 7.
I am now 13-3 with the Reds!!??

Trust me the CPU offense will come.

I guess that the Cubs having a slumping lineup is what did it.

I lost my last two series', each 1 gms to 2 (vs MIL, @ FLA), and the CPU was crushing the ball. In every one of the games in those two series' the CPU never scored less than 4 runs. There were wins by the CPU 7-4; 12-5; 8-6; 8-1.

The CPU offense will come, and you've really got to take into account the lineup you're facing. For instance, played my first gm against the Nats last night and won 5-3. Chan Ho Park only allowed 3 runs through 6 innings on 6 hits. San Diego I swept in 4 games. The teams w/ weaker lineups can get shutdown w/ good pitching.

Do you play w/ strike zone on or off?

I use it off. Having it off makes pitching a lot more tougher, and you're much more susceptible to the CPU longball.

EDIT: Oh yea...good to see Hairston homered for you. Guess I'll press on w/ them the way they are, and if the HRs don't come I'll chalk it up to a decline in power for certain hitters .

Also good to see your SVs are being tracked properly. Maybe I could be wrong, and that it WAS only Lidge's 2nd SV. I'll continue to monitor this.

Well the next series should be different as Atlanta comes to town to play my Reds.
They have 3 hitters in a hot streak now including Chipper who is crushing the ball. I think part of the cpu inability to score is my pitching staff. Harrang, Volques, and Cueto have been great for me so far. I have the strike zone turned off when I pitch. I just really hope you are right and the cpu starts to hit me alot better. Its weird saying that, that I hope the cpu starts HITTING ME. I would really like to start losing some games which makes no sense! LOL

Hey guys I have to ask this ?. I am still 9-4 w/ the Mets and I was going to sign Curt Schilling at the end of May. however with his retirement would any of you still do this?
I try to keep it realistic and I felt that the Mets signing Schilling for 1 season would make sence. His overall rating is only a 70 on the game but, I have always liked him and wanted to use him this season.

It just defies reality that the Reds are winning huh?

Remember Tampa Bay...Might wanna go get that Reds jacket.

Seriously though, I know what you mean. I was killing the ball the CPU wasn't, and I was winning...however I was also doing these things against COL and SD. Since adjusting my sliders and playing better teams I've seen my offense dip, and the CPU has started to kill the ball - I've given up a HR in 6 straight games.

MIL hit 5 HRs on me in one game, and FLA hit 4 HRs in another.

I was cruising throught the Nats through 5 innings until I left a slider over the plate which Milledge blasted for a solo shot to tie it at 3 last night.

Trust me, the CPU offense should come.

I think that signing would make sense, if he was going to sign with anyone before he retired it would have been with a team like the Mets.

                            Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

Allright JBH3 I got in 2 more games with you new updated sliders last night, both games where really different.
I lost the first game 9-6(yes cpu offense!), I am playing as the Reds at home vs the Braves. The Braves scored 2 runs the first inning then 3 the second. After that Harang shut them down for the next 5 innings. He pitched 7 inn. and allowed 5 runs, my bullpin stunk it up in the 9th allowing 4 more runs. Again I love it finally some cpu offense. As for my offense I scored 6 runs on 10 hits, Jay Bruce had 2 2 run homers.
The next game was a pitching duel, I lost 2-0. The Braves scored 1 run in the 8th and added 1 more in the 9th off a HR by Chipper. I was shut out by Vaquez I only had 5 total hits. I did have a chance to win it in the 9th off the Braves closer. I had the bases loaded with no outs and did not score. Again Volquez was unreal for me, he allowed 1 unearned run. He pitched 8 innings and allowed 4 hits and struck out 11, again the only run he allowed was unearned.
I gotta say I am pretty happy with these sliders, the only thing that might need tweaked is the cpu Power, it seems like they hit every thing way too hard when they do make contact.
I might bump the cpu power back down to 70.

Glad you've been able to get what you're looking for from the game.

The CPU has been hitting the long ball on me too, the last 6 games I've given up at least one HR.

Some have been of the WTF type, like 1B Gaby Sanchez jacking a low/inside circle change by Jamie Moyer; that pitch was way too low for him to hit out and only a Vlad or Manny could've done that.

But other times the HRs have come because of poorly placed pitches by me.

Take for instance the last game I played vs the Nats. Lastings Milledge hit the only Nats HR, and it was a slider that I tried to come low and inside on. Instead of nibbling the corner, I placed the pitch over the plate where Milledge got all barrell on it and jacked it. Had I not made that mistake I would've gotten out of that game w/ no HRs given up, and Chan Ho Park would've finised the 6th and in line for a win.

I like power where it is, but if you feel you need to lower by all means...

I just feel I need to pitch better and set hitters up better. Not having that strike zone, or using IE is another reason for seeing more CPU HRs.

For IE I've been purchasing one report a month for each team. In May I'll purchase the Mets IE for the Phillies. Lets hope by doing that, Cole Hamels can pitch to each players IE and shutdown the opposition for his 1st W.

                                Anyway. I haven't played in a while ... it's making me sad.

Although SD absolutely crushed the ball against me also
