Yes, I also find 2k12 to be a fun game. I started a franchise and surprised there haven't been any serious bugs. The game plays well except for all the fielding errors, sliders at default. Commentary is even better this year. While initially I wasn't a fan of the new pitching system, I can appreciate what it adds to the game, pitching becomes more challenging. Overall, I am quite pleased that I purchased 2k12, and I also bought The Show 12, so I'm playing both games and enjoying them.

Had more time with both games and I started a franchise with the other game, there is just too much it does right vs what MLB 2k12 does wrong.
MLB 2k12 is a fun game though.. if I hadn't traded in our wii last year for a ps3, I would be fine with this game.
I'll check back after a patch, if some things are fixed, I could see myself playing a franchise with 2k12 as well.
Franchise mode seems to be well put together and I'm going to come back to this game for awhile and dig into it.Comment

360-only owner here so no option to compare the other game. I know this game has gotten railed in some reviews but who cares? I'm having a blast with this thing! Sure, it's ugly at times and some pretty quirky animations pop up from time to time, but if you can get past some of that stuff, it's really a fun game. And to me, that matters most.Comment

I just wanted to say, after 9 games so far in my franchise, a few minor tweaks, a great roster set by MK and one heck of a franchise mode, 2k.. you guys deserve a hand or a tip of the cap.
I love this game so far! It breathes baseball to me and it has that perfect balance of realism and control that I really love about it.
Thanks.Comment

Re: MLB 2k12 - Impressions Thread (PS3/X360)
Okay playing this game since I picked up the 2k12 double pack...
I honestly don't like this game on a console.
Owning it on PC and 360, makes the console seem so blah!
Controls are smoother on PC, Graphics are 80x better and I mean really better...
I'm working on a Video now that will show them both running and it's a night and day difference....
I think the 360 version is just a minor upgrade and some new menus and logos..game still feels the same as 2k11... My only true gripe is batting...my goodness it's horrible...why does it seem like the ball just vanishes a few seconds before you can swing or it kind of disappears and reappears it like .5 seconds...
There is definitely something wrong with the physics on that. Switched to classic batting and it's even worse. I just don't like the game on 360. Pitching mechanics are fine though...love the pitching system.
commentary is great, absolutely love the broadcast, colors are 100% off as usual, but that's too be expected.
Played my first online game, great game....I beat the guy in the bottom of the 9th with a hit from A-Rod and time the ball started going over the wall, he disconnected and I didn't get the win....lol sore losers...
I guess that's all I have for now...Comment

Re: MLB 2k12 - Impressions Thread (PS3/X360)
I think that 2K12 would benefit from being a PC exclusive, that is if they focused all their attention on it. Of course it wouldn't make much money at being 29.99 and then the market is so so small that it wouldn't even be worth making. Yet, there's so much untapped potential!
thats a great idea!
that seems to be the best version they release.
thanks to the dedicated modding community.
they can get out of the console race with EA possibly getting back in and focus on that.Comment

I am about done with my ST with the Giants. using MKs sliders i must say this is one of the best games i have played when it comes to being fun. Pitching is great and the hitting is just as good.Comment

Re: MLB 2k12 - Impressions Thread (PS3/X360)
Could anyone comment on season-to-season player progression in franchise mode? I'm interested to know if drafted prospects actually progress in a realistic way. Also, in previous versions of the game, there would be too many highly rated players in the league if you went through enough seasons.Comment

Jim Jones did some testing on Draftees in this thread:
http://www.operationsports.com/forum...logic-etc.html
Not sure if I remember if he tackled progression of kids. I know he did big names.
You can browse the thread.
He did have this to say in the first post.
DRAFT PICKS
I actually started keeping track of these in the first season, but forgot to after that so I didn't include it in my original post. I did write down the top 5 picks of my first draft but never followed through. I went back and looked at them heading into season 4 and here's how they shape up:
1.) Vic Baldelli, SP, Astros - 72 OVR: Pitched 3.2 innings of relief in his rookie year, 29 relief innings the next season and was in the rotation by season 3. Was drafted at age 19.
2.) Max Clean, SP, Twins - (Don't have OVR): 41 innings of relief between first two seasons (95% of it came in second season IIRC, joined rotation in 3rd season. Drafted at age 22).
3.) Del Brazell, 3B, Mariners - 76 OVR: Started 101 games as a rookie and has been full-time starter since. Chone Figgins retired after first season, so that might explain it. Looking back, kind of hard to believe he didn't win ROY.
4.) Felipe Casevah, SS, Orioles - 74 OVR: Appeared in one game his first year, 22 games second year, full-time starter in 3rd year. Drafted at age 21.
5.) Hanley Clemens, SP, Padres - (Don't have OVR): Drafted at age 19. Made 4 starts in rookie year, only threw 4 innings of relief in second year, joined rotation in third year.
So it looks like most top prospects spend a little time in the minors before getting called up. May do more thorough research into this later.Comment

For 2K12...Did 2K remove the ability to upload a boxscore after a game? Or do you have to do it before advancing to the next game? Asking because I had advanced to my 3rd game, after playing the first 2, and then wanted to go back and upload my boxscore but only options were Daily View and something else, not upload boxscore.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Yes, you cannot upload your box score. You can VIEW boxscore, but not upload it.

Was just about to throw a perfect game last night and the commentary from the 7th inning on had my heart racing. Not because I was about to throw a perfect game, but because the commentary actually made me feel like I was saving the world or something lol. It is truly amazing how in-depth it is. And even though they made little changes from last year and kept the same lines, it does not bother me one bit. Because the commentary is what makes this game unique from The Show. 2k actually makes you feel like you are throwing a perfect game, not just playing a game. Even though I choked and gave up a hit, it wasn't just because I threw a bad ball, it was because my heart was pounding so hard because the commentators were just as excited as I was. Even after that one hit, they STILL were going nuts that I was going to throw a complete game shutout. I know this seems weird that my heart was racing for a game, but that's what makes this game so great for me. It can get my blood flowing like no other game could. And regardless of what people may think of it, this truly is the best baseball game on the market. Hands down.
edit: The most AMAZING thing just happened in Franchise Mode with the Phillies. I traded Shane Victorino to the Marlins, and in game 3 of a 3 game series vs. them. Shane Victorino came up to bat. And the commentator is like, "And the love affair with the fans, they sure have a way of welcoming back a player"
It wasn't exactly what he said, but it was basically the same. Has anyone else heard this? I think that is attention to detail. I have NEVER heard it in past games.Last edited by aykyle; 04-05-2012, 12:24 AM.Comment
