To be perfectly clear, "the man" being referred to here is not God, Stan "The Man" Musial, Stan "The Man" Lee, The Man With The Golden Gun, The Man With The Golden Gun, or even The Man of oppression fame.

Hmmm, I was really hoping this would be higher than 8.4 - I really like the IGN reviews. Oh well, I'll rent if first - I fell in love with MVP this year and I'm just wondering if it is worth it to buy ESPN so I can play on XBL???

I guess I'll find out soon enough.

I fell in love with the WOW factor of MVP as well, and ASB '05 was pretty weak. But the more I played both, the WOW factor lessens and ASB closes the gap. I think ESPN will be the best of the bunch and I own sports games from all producers so I am not a fanboy, just a fan of good games. Heck, I've even got the backyard titles for the cube also ...and I'm 37

The following is a quote from the review that was presented by Hilary as a potential problem, that I look at as a HUGE positive:

"I must admit that I've had a bit more of a problem pitching this year than last year, as the pitching effort sometimes too greatly affects location or ball movement, making it a bit more difficult to hit the spots. I'm not really sure if it's intentional or not, but I'm a seasoned veteran of the series and it took me a few games to get accustomed to the sensitivity of this year's pitching system."

To me, this is beyond excellent (assuming he is correct of course). If this is a true statement, pitchers with a better control rating will become even more important. It won't be all about the fireballers!

Did anyone else pick up on this little comment and think it was actually a GOOD thing!?!

Yes, sounds like a positive to me. Almost every game allows for pin-point pitcher accuracy. The result? You never walk anyone, which we hate.

At this point, after playing MVP, the "features" I'm looking most foward to are:
                        --player progression that works right
--correct hitting physics for lefties (what a novel concept!)
--ability to play/watch other teams' franchise games
                        --positional fatigue
--WALKS (although I hardly ever got any last year, I'm hoping to finally find a decent game where the CPU will walk you now and then).

I could be mistaken, but didn't I read that player progression was a bit quirky? He said that it was too random- a player with a horrible season could gain skills and vice versa. Doesn't sound that appealing to me.
