Re: CATCH UP LOGIC IS IN THIS GAME!!!!

Let me say that I love the true aim batting and the fielding in the game. I am getting realistic stats BUT I have a lot of blown saves with Dotel and Lidge. I just hate when I have a lead and then in the 8th or 9th inning it falls apart and lose. The CPU has big innings sometimes.

Yes, I've been here since 2003. No, I don't post much. I'm too busy playing the games.

Re: CATCH UP LOGIC IS IN THIS GAME!!!!

Dude, big innings happen. The Cubs scored 8 runs in the first inning in a game last week. If that happened in ESPN, would you claim the CPU was cheating? It CAN happen...

Blown saves also happened. How about the Yankees taking the D-backs to the bottom of the 9th with a lead in the 2001 Series? The D-backs get on base, get a huge double, the Yankees commit an error, and Arizona goes on to win with 2 runs. If you were the Yankees and this happened in ESPN, you'd cry comeback code because you got beat and blew the save. But it can happen...

Walkoff homers happen. Hell, the Cubs had that huge game a couple weeks ago where Sosa and Alou hit back-to-back homers in the bottom of the 9th to tie and win it for the Cubs. They didn't cheat; they just beat the other team's closer.

So what you're speaking of isn't comeback code of CPU cheating -- it's baseball.

You just need to learn to hold your leads.

There is NO CATCH UP LOGIC in this game. Learn to play the game first and you have the right to make a stupid post like this...

I have played nearly 50 games and have seen no such thing. I have not touched the sliders. I am just as likely to give up a homerun in the 1st inning when I DO NOT HAVE A LEAD as I am in the 9th when I do have the lead.

I very, very rarely throw them unless they're way outside...if it's a tight game try not throwing a slider...stick to fastballs up and in or low and away....depending on the players hot spots.

I think you're right about this. Sliders that don't slide seem more common in this game than other breaking pitches not going where you want them - and I remember it from WSB, too. A slider is more uncommon and harder (for most) to throw than a curveball, so it makes some sense.

As for blown saves and realism, there are many, many closers better than Dotel. Most of them, actually.

My man Wickman blew out his arm last night after loading the bases in the ninth! See you in 86 days, Bobbie! Doesn't get more realistic than that. What's next, Griffey plays two weeks straight without hurting himself? Nah.

You guys nailed it. As much as I hate Rex Hudler's announcing abilities in this game, he's right when he states "A low and outside slider is the hardest pitch to hit in baseball". So if you throw a slider, you better get it low and away.

The only other time I throw it is if I want to back door a guy - low and inside. I usually throw some hard stuff outside (FB, sinker, splitter, cutter) and then throw a slow slider on the lower inside part of the plate.
