Shohei Ohtani signs with the Mariners! Well, in my world he does anyway! I needed to play this out before the M's actually miss out on this possible superstar. In this game he is the starting pitcher and does not hit for himself, which is how I think it will play out in the AL. He'll then likely DH on some off days and be available as a pinch hitter is my speculation.

Astros visit Mariners in a nice pitching matchup. Verlander vs. Paxton. Both had good outings. Neither came away with a decision. Bottom of the 9th rally ties the game at 2 for the Mariners. Bregman wins it in the 10th with a 2-run bomb off Diaz. This game is solid.

Ohtani goes 1-4 as DH. You can see how I inserted him into the game about 1 minute in.

When setting up franchise what injury frequency you suggest?

Probably anywhere from 10-25. I haven't played much franchise. That is what I have seen on other threads.

Played a fantastic game last night. Mariners traveled to take on the Yankees with their added NL MVP and power bat in Giancarlo Stanton. James Paxton takes on the new murderers' row in New York. This was just a smooth looking game. A ton of nice animations and plays. Spoiler, the game goes into extra innings. I may try to post links to nice plays in the description.

Man o man, I'm definitely only playing one game per series with Braves , they are horrble, lmao. Going to be long season.

Yep, that pitch was supposed to be down and away. I wanted to get ahead in the count, but not give him something so good to hit. Probably should have been a slider first pitch. Make him adjust to something moving.

That's one thing I may tinker with in my sliders. I have user pitch control at 10 and still throw about 65% strikes. But, the result is I throw some pitches too good, when in reality, a pitcher makes better pitches and just misses off the plate. And that is a strategy the user needs to employ. With higher pitch control, utilize throwing pitches out of the zone. Rather than handcuffing the ability to pitch where you want.

Next game I will test a high user pitch control. I think there has to be a tradeoff somehow though. Maybe a touch higher composure.

                    Stay tuned.

Did you start a franchise? Which roster? Year end one or one of the more up to date ones I posted? If one I posted, did you assign some free agents to some teams? There is a lot of talent unsigned in the FA pool!

I have a simmed franchise file that has the same result for the season as this year's playoffs and can go through the off season with the current free agents available.

Ok, good. That way at least everyone is on a team! Good stuff. How are the games going? I'm trying to find a balance of fearing the opposing big hitters while not having a boatload of crazy offense. Against really good hitting teams, I am struggling to keep them under 10 runs with any non-Paxton pitcher!

I am using the sliders I use to use, bigfnjoes. Really solid. Last game I lost 0-2 to Nationals, I had Teheran on mound, which is only reason I kept them to low score.

I might tune Pitcher Control up to say 20 but no more but I could not play the game successfully with the CPU Hitting Sliders turned up as high as MK plays. No way.

Yep, I am finding the same. I just can't compete against the best teams with the CPU hitting sliders so high. I am just not as good with the sticks and pitching. I just played a game testing 100 pitch speed and 30 user control against the Astros. I loved the control at 30. For one thing, it solved my inability to locate a sinker down in the zone. However, I had CPU hitting at 70con/80pow and they absolutely crushed me.

Morton had a perfect game through 6 innings until a Dee Gordon double. Managed to scratch out a few more hits. I like the difficulty of 100 pitch speed, but at the same time, it might just be a tad too much.

I want to be able to compete with my 80ish overall starting pitchers. So I will continue to tune the CPU hitting until I find a nice balance.
