Re: GMAB8's 2017 MLB today/slider/roster/franchise/discussion thread
Same here. I am sitting at 65 CPU CON and 75 power and just when I think I have them solved they start hitting EVERYTHING in the gaps to the wall. Frustrating.

Although, I may be misrepresenting the Ace starters if I stop and think about it. The ace starters generally DO dominate games. The poor start is a rarity. I should feel dominating even against the best teams with Paxton. And I should be able to have some really good starts with Leake.
Much of this is the reason I started toying with the adjustable random range of sliders. I may need to explore the ranges a bit more again.
Good stuff guys.

Re: GMAB8's 2017 MLB today/slider/roster/franchise/discussion thread
Yep, I am finding the same. I just can't compete against the best teams with the CPU hitting sliders so high. I am just not as good with the sticks and pitching. I just played a game testing 100 pitch speed and 30 user control against the Astros. I loved the control at 30. For one thing, it solved my inability to locate a sinker down in the zone. However, I had CPU hitting at 70con/80pow and they absolutely crushed me.
Morton had a perfect game through 6 innings until a Dee Gordon double. Managed to scratch out a few more hits. I like the difficulty of 100 pitch speed, but at the same time, it might just be a tad too much.
I want to be able to compete with my 80ish overall starting pitchers. So I will continue to tune the CPU hitting until I find a nice balance.

Re: GMAB8's 2017 MLB today/slider/roster/franchise/discussion thread
Now, this was a fun game! Fantastic pitching duel between Kershaw and Paxton. CPU batting set at 70con/80pow. USER pitch control at 30 which was really nice to be able to locate pitches properly. 90 pitch speed(Goldilocks rule, thanks GreenLightning) was near perfection. I don't know why I ever left there!
My next game I want to see how an average or worse pitcher can do against a solid offensive lineup.

Your suggestion of 90 pitch speed was great! See the last game I posted against the Dodgers. I was able to battle, but not too easily. I am liking that Goldilocks 90 speed! Juuuuust right!Comment

Re: GMAB8's 2017 MLB today/slider/roster/franchise/discussion thread
Another game with 90 pitch speed. This one against a weaker Texas Rangers roster. I utilized my random range sliders here.
Notable - CPU contact at 50, power at 90. I increased the range that the sliders could land on by moving them in 10 point bumps and another odd/even dice roll to determine if they are at the 5 or 0.
Also, CPU pitch success was at nearly its lowest possible value of 50, but seemingly wasn't as detrimental as I thought. It may have produced a more fluctuating speed on the same pitch(ex: fastballs that are not as successful by the CPU may come in a few MPH slower than a successful fastball).
USER composure was 70, which was still manageable due to the poor roll for CPU contact. Marco Gonzales struck out 9 in 5 innings and was solid, even with 10 control. Quite a few left-handed bats in their lineup that are poor against same-sided pitching.
I really enjoy the movement in the sliders as it adds a little unknown to the flow of the game. And, I can write off a poor or good game due to the random roll of the dice and not think my sliders are wayyyyy off because of 1 game!

Re: GMAB8's 2017 MLB today/slider/roster/franchise/discussion thread
Here's why I did that... I found, like GMAB8 stated, that I never walk anyone. So by making the cpu a better hitter - both in contact and power - I FORCE myself to throw outside the zone, OR I get punished, as I should. So I walk more, even with a slightly higher user pitcher control, but the making the cpu a force at the plate is the trade-off.STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: GMAB8's 2017 MLB today/slider/roster/franchise/discussion thread
Tough game for the M's bats versus Lance McCullers. Complete game shutout and a 4-0 win in Seattle. McCullers struck out 10. I used my random sliders again. It is really cool how it gives a different feel to every game, even when you know what some of the strengths and weaknesses could be. In this one, the batting sliders for both were quite low. 20/50 for USER and 55/50 for CPU. The difference in the game was one half inning where the 'stros put all 4 runs on the board in the 3rd. The fielding sliders played a role in this. A few mistimed throws with USER throw accuracy at 0 combined with a USER throw error frequency of 65 caused some problems.
USER con/pow - 20/50
CPU con/pow - 55/50
USER meter - 80
USER control - 20
USER composure - 20
CPU success - 75
CPU strike zone tend - 25
CPU composure - 30
USER throw acc - 0
USER gather error - 50
USER throw error - 65
CPU gather error - 45
CPU throw error - 60
All other sliders are base sliders that do not change from my original.
I really enjoy the game this way. If anyone decides to try this system out, give me some feedback!

Re: GMAB8's 2017 MLB today/slider/roster/franchise/discussion thread
More games played with my Random Dice Roll Sliders. Lately, I have played 11 games with the 90 pitch speed version and the random dice roll sliders. Every game feels different. I am 6-5 in those 11 games. Played LAA 4 times, Oak 3 times, NYY, Hou, Bos, and Minn. I've been blown out, I've had close games, and I've blown the opponent out. I have adjusted my ranges slightly to get more variation. Good stuff!
