Come on, you're just reaching. Tons of games promise a "whole new game" every year and in those games there are almost always animations held over from last year.

Reaching? I could care less about what TT advertises than what is being said here in the forums.

To be honest, all they did was take what was there and build on it. They didn't completely rewrite all the code.

It's all a marketing ploy, one that is obviously working well.

Don't take the comment to mean the game looks bad or anything... then you're reading into it too much.

Pared is right. You wont see any of the sports games wether it be EA or TT build something from the ground up probablyuntil the next gen systems are ready. Its just a common thing with sports video games. You dont see it as much with other games though. For example. Jak 1 and Jak two have th same characters but outside of that they build the game form the ground up because its a new gameworld, etc. With sports titles, well Shea Stadium last year is Shea Staduim this year. Not saying they just keep the same thing but they will take last years and improve on it. They arent gonna scrap it and build it from the ground up. Sports titles are the same every year as far as thier structure and enviroments go. On the flip side though with that said, youd think that gives them MORE time to spend on fixing animations and what not.

what did concern me about those two videos was the flash on the screen that showed pitch count. At one point i believe it flashed up somewhere saying 38 pitches, 37 strikes, 1 ball. That's very concerning. Yes, it's a HUM controlled player, but seemed to be way too easy to hit the strike zone. That itself is not promising. I don't plan on using either the visible strike zone or the K zone/cursor aiming anyway but it still concerns me a bit.

about the "built from ground up" idea. I don't think many people really buy into the 100% claim. I've never really seen too many games that can really say they scrapped an entire game and rebuilt while they already do have a product on the market. Now before someone points out that MVP was built ground up, that was after taking time off and completely scrapping TP. What i've always assumed ESPN was doing was completely examing each aspect of the game and scrapping those areas that were unsalvagable such as some graphics/animations/sounds/ etc. I don't really think many people believe that the game was started from a completely blank slate.

It seems that the pitcher should go into motion and you adjust the aiming icons (bullseye) while he is in motion, but unless I am missing something, you do all your aiming and everything, then the pitcher goes into motion. Seems like this game will take forever to play.

You don't necessarily have to use the K Zone pitching interface. There is a meter based interface, as well as one without a meter similar to what was in last year's game. Worrying about how long the game will take with the K Zone really isn't an issue.

After viewing the videos, I cancelled my order with EB. I HAD both MVP and MLB 2k5 ordered. I enjoy playing baseball and baseball games, but the MLB 2k5 had way too many flaws for me. Last year I made the mistake of buying both games and I took ESPN back the next day because of the crappy graphics and choppy gameplay. Sure, Skybox was cool. But you can't spend the whole game playing air hockey and making a scrapbook of your fave plays.

I know that this is a MLB 2k5 board, but MVP has massive replay value for me. I played it from the time it came out until Halo 2 came out in Nov. My real struggle will be when I could play MVP over Halo 2.

My two cents is in. I hope you guys find some enjoyment in bad fielding animations and pasty looking faces (and players running straight through them).

C'mon, I would give anyone the benefit of the doubt that they know the game isn't going to be completely scrapped, much like was the case with TP and MVP. But if you read forum comments, a lot of them suggest that this WAS the case for MLB 2k5.

Anyway, yes, that's just it. You have to learn to expect the usual updates given the time frame. It's part of the reason I don't see why so much harping on MVP.

But one thing TT has proven, is that a lot more can be done in that year than we've been led to believe.....

Again, this year's title looks pretty good, but it has me more excited about next year's title.... I already see too many minor things that will hamper the game for me....
