    Re: HH's tweaked sliders.

I am going to move the AI Mod back to 100 and the AI skill back to 100, leaving the Pitch speed interface at 95. I will let you know how it goes. Based upon my previous games, I am concerned with moving all of them back to 100 at the same time because that was where every mistake over the plate and missing the mark in zone pitching, the ball was over the fence. I am hopeful that we can still find the right balance.

While we are spending a lot of time with the AI Offense, let me know what you think of the human offense. Right now, a lot of my good hitters, Damon, Jeter, and Abreu are hurt. Thus, I am using people with ratings in the high
60s and 70s. It is tough to make a decision whether the offensive numbers are OK, too low, or too inflated.

The wild card in these settings may be the 70 pitch speed. In your previous slider settings, we were working with a pitch speed of 75 to 85. I did read in another post that some say the lower the pitch speed, the less offense on the part of the AI. More to come . . .

      Re: HH's tweaked sliders.

Just wanna say first time using your sliders and enjoying them, i was using NJPapi's opening day sliders but i just couldnt get a realistic game with them, i also agree with your philosophy on hitting and pitching, well not the deck of cards anyway..but i feel you have to have some sort of philosophy like yours to get a realistic game...I did tweak a few sliders and trying a couple of different things out so if i do get any insight on them i will be sure to post it...Thanks again

        Re: HH's tweaked sliders.

These seem to be turning out really great. Pitch speed has to be 70, it's too easy anything lower. With batting power/influence/and power swing at 5, we are getting both bloopers, gappers and the occasional homerun. Changed AI skill back to 100 and left Eff Mod at 95. I think I'm going with these for a little while to see how they play. I want to be able to start my season this weekend and get caught up to the MLB schedule. I think AI skill must be at 100, but with Eff Mod at 95, it's still possible that meat pitch won't get pounded. I also took nnng's hitting sliders in his current set. They work very well with my house rules.

My House Rules for Batting: (Swing Stick)

Rule 1 - Can only use power swing when the AI throws a meat pitch at anytime (Even 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 counts). That's the only time I allow myself to press up on the swing stick. The rest of the time it must be pull and release tactic.
Rule 2 - Must wait until the AI throws one strike in the count to swing, unless it's a meat pitch as stated above. I've had 2 so far that the CPU didn't throw down the gut on 3-0, it is rare though, then I do not swing. This works the pitcher's pitch total.

My House Rules for Pitching: (Both Zone 1 and Payoff - see below for proper sliders)

Rule 1 - Zone or Payoff pitching - ***** I now use a deck of cards to determine my every pitch. Sounds crazy, but adds intriging situations to the game. Ex: I have 4 pitches available in a clockwise position, (fastball, slider, change up, and curve) an ace, 5, 9, or King would culminate in a fastball, a 2, 6, 10, or Joker would culminate in the slider and so on. I know it's cheesy, but I do this now to keep me from throwing the same pitch all the time in certain situations. I still select my own location for zone pitching and for payoff, I flip another card for location.

        123
        4 5
        678

Rule 2 - I do not throw any pitches that start down the middle and each pitch must begin on some point of catchers glove.

Rule 3 - only one pickoff attempt per at bat, I've actually gotten a couple with diveback at 100.

Rule 4 - Starters can go as long as they want unless they give up either of the following:

Rule 4b - 5 earned runs (not total runs) and I trail by 2 or more runs at the time my pitcher gives up the 5th earned run. If not losing by 2 or more runs, can continue until that point is reached or the following below:
        Rule 4c - 10 hits
Rule 4d - tied or losing after 7th inning
Rule 4e - winning after 8 innings and lead by 3 runs of less, if winning by more than 3, starter can go on until that point is reached or the game is complete.
        Rule 4f - 15% stanima
Rule 4g - after one of the above, I must take him out at that moment and bring in a reliever.

Rule 5 - Relievers can go a maximum of 3 innings for long relievers and 2 innings for middle, setups and closers, or one of the following:

Rule 5a - 3 earned runs or 6 hits for long relievers
Rule 5b - 2 earned runs or 5 hits for middle, setups, and closers
Rule 5c - after one of the above, the player must be removed at that moment and I must bring in a new pitcher. Make sure you have another pitcher warming up.

          Re: HH's tweaked sliders.

Well boys, I think I've finally settled on a set. I just had the best experience ever in this game with the above sliders. Here are my stats.

          BAL (me) - 0 0 0 2 0 1 0 0 0 - 3 runs 9 hits 1 error
          DET (ai) - 0 0 2 0 1 1 0 0 X - 4 runs 7 hits 0 errors

I scored my runs on a homerun by Tejada, a single between short and 3rd with Gibbons and a double by Tejada. Left two runners on in the 9th that both reached via walks, which was way cool.

Detroit scored theirs on a two run homerun in the 3rd, followed by a sacrifice fly to center in the 5th, and a double in the 6th.

          O's, 6 singles, 2 doubles, 1 homerun
          Tigers, 4 singles, 2 doubles 1 homerun

          Loewen went 6 innings for me giving up 4 runs, 6 hits, 81 pitches, 58 strikes 23 balls, 5 k's, 2 bb

          Robertson went 5 2/3 innings, 2 runs, 7 hits, 93 pitches, 30 balls, 63 strikes, 6 k's, 3 bb

            HH,
Stats looks really good, i'm going to half to try these.
I'm sucking right now lol if i'm not striking out i'm hitting infield shots or pop outs. I think with you moving the Human batting up should help me out as
far as more solid hits. As for all the stike outs that's on me I suck

I know you all prefer zone pitching, as do I, but if anyone would like to test a few games using my sliders in post #63 using payoff pitching and moving AI contact to 45 and AI power to 60, it'd be great. I'm having a good game going on now testing payoff. I'd like to find sliders comfortable for everyone that plays this game and uses the swing stick, but enjoys pitching either way.

I've updated sliders for both zone 1 and payoff pitching. (Made changes to house rules for payoff pitching) Payoff is pretty much nnng's sliders with my take ball/strikes sliders. Also, upped power swing to 10, as I feel you should be able to crush meat pitches the majority of the time. At least 3 out of every 4 should be base hits.

Made modification to pitching house rules. Added a different scenario highlighted in red. Post #63, page 7. Rule 4e. Changed Rule 4f, stanima is now set at 15% for all situations (this gives #1 #2 starters close to 100 pitches)

                                BAL (me) - 0 0 0 1 1 0 0 0 2 - 4 runs 8 hits 0 error

                                Hitting:

                                Seattle:

                                7 singles
                                2 doubles
                                1 triple
                                1 homerun

                                Baltimore:

                                5 singles
                                2 doubles
1 homerun - had one robbed by Ichiro as well

                                Pitching:

                                E. Bedard (me) 6.0 innings, 98 pitches, 39 balls, 59 strikes, 7 ks, 2 bb, 7 hits, 3 runs

                                F. Hernandez: 7 innings, 92 pitches, 31 balls, 61 strikes, 9 ks, 3 bb, 5 hits, 2 runs

Guys, I highly suggest you give payoff pitching along with all my house rules and the way I play a chance. I have never enjoyed any experience with this game like I have the last two games. I know you all believe zone pitching is better, but with my setup, it makes you earn your balls and strikes and outs. It feels just like real baseball to me.
