      Re: Dynamic Difficulty Experiment

I am using Heels with both Dyn Diff and Hot/Cold on. Here are my last 4 results with the Cubs:

      Phi: 3-1 W
      Mil: 5-6 L 12 innings
      Atl: 5-0 W
      Mil: 5-1 W

I am still averaging 3 homers a game, but it should be about 6 as I have seen a large number come up short and I feel this is an impact of the Dyn Diff working. At least I lost a game for a change.

Yeah, I'm still getting loads of HR's as Florida. Then again, so are the opposing teams. Game scores are a bit more varied, though.

          Re: Dynamic Difficulty Experiment

Thanks Undefeated! Played a great game last night using dynamic difficulty and Heelfan's sliders. Only thing I changed was his fielding error sliders cause I thought they were a little much.

          Mariners 3 8 0
          Red Sox 4 8 0

Josh Beckett pitched a great game. Gave up 3 runs in the first but then pitched 6 2/3 innings of shut out baseball. Papelbon came in and closed the door in the eighth and ninth.

Hitting was way more varied then I've ever seen it (fouls down the line, bloop singles, etc.) Only had two homers the entire game (one per team). I had some pressure situations late that I usually never see cause I'm either losing or winning by 10 runs. There were also a few new animations that I haven't seen before.

This really was a game saver for me. Thanks a lot!

Bloop singles. I forgot to mention how I saw this same thing once I turned on DD.

It was those natural bloop singles that fall in front of the outfielder, but are lined just a tad bit. It was nice to see the first time. At first I thought the outfielder was going to make the catch but then the ball dropped in front and I had to check out the replay. Saw the same type of hit later in the game by another player.

I've been playing with this turned on in my brewers franchise, i'm using heelfans sliders, and it's still way to easy. Atleast pitching is. The CPU never scores runs. 3 of my starters and 1 of my releivers are the top 4 candidates for the NL Cy Young. Any advice to make the CPU hit better. I know DD only affect the User sliders, but what are you guys using to get the CPU to put up a decent number of runs. Dave Bush is 13-0 with a .96 ERA. It's jsut to easy and its killing the game for me.

I agree. I wish I can get a little more out of the cpu as well. I feel like I am cheating!

Did you tune anything on the AI batting? It looks like the AI is putting up some decent numbers against you.

You need to turn hot/cold teams on to see much change in the CPU sliders.

Try starting at a default difficulty and then use DD to see what happens. I might try a few games like that myself as I can really dominate with Carpenter.

Along with Heelfan's sliders, I've got DD and hot/cold teams turned on with a fantasy drafted league(based on created rosters from the rosters forum).
                          This is FANTASTIC baseball.

If MVP in its prime with perfect sliders and updated rosters was a 10, this game as I'm playing it right now is an easy 8, inching slowly towards a 9 every game as the DD does its magic. I think with a few tweaks of the gameplay and added features in 2K8, it really could be a perfect game.

There will never be a perfect game but the thing they need to do most is have more foul balls or a foul ball slider. This would allow pitch counts to become much more realistic. They also should be able to tweak the game so that you don't need sliders to achieve good baseball.

                              Fellas, thoughts on this.

My first 5 games box scores with perfect sliders and DD and Hot/Cold on...

                              Code:
                              NYM 6 13 1
                              STL 0 4 0

                              NYM 5 9 1
                              STL 1 6 0

                              NYM 8 11 1
                              STL 1 9 4

                              NYM 4 7 0
                              ATL 3 9 0

                              NYM 6 11 0
                              ATL 1 6 0
As you can see, 5-0 and winning every game easily apart from the 4th. 7 homers in this time but they felt real, good swings on pitches to hit, nothing contrived you know, and 6 stolen bases. Team batting .280, ERA 1.20, way too low.

Do you think its about now, that DD realises im winning too easily, it will "kick in" and i should start to see an improvement in the CPU?

I know 5 games is a small sample but im wondering how others experiences have gone of any change during a winning streak?

                              Thought/opinions appreciated.

                                Re: Dynamic Difficulty Experiment

After playing a dozen more games, I'm seeing a strange trend. Not sure if its related to hot/cold teams or DD, but I'm having several 1-0 2-1 games in a row and my offense is all but in the toilet. It seems with DD though, the CPU will adjust the AI's skills to yours, and since I'm having trouble hitting anything, the AI also is having trouble to make it close and my pitching is dominating. Like a vicious cycle, I have trouble hitting so the AI starts having trouble hitting which makes my pitching ridiculously good which makes the AIs pitching good to keep up....hence I can't hit good anymore.
How do I get out of this cycle? Turn off DD for a couple games to let it reset itself? Cuz prior to this slump, I was having fantastic 8-7 5-3 games.

Unless its the hot/cold thing, which I'm not so sure I like when all my hitters are batting .143 and .097.
