Re: BFJ All-Star " Custom Total Control" Sliders

You know, I was so frustrated with this game last night. When I first got it I didn't touch any sliders but the AI pitching sliders and got pretty decent results. Last night I did full out testing and cranked the AI pitch down and the AI take pitch all the way up. The result was that the CPU through WAY too many strikes and the hitters almost swung at the first pitch everytime.

I think I'm going to take Kush Gamer's advice and just try several games on default All-star and see how that goes. Everything else in the game is playing great, but if we can't fix the CPU throwing way too many strikes and swinging at to many pitches I don't see myself playing this game. Unfortunately I hear Ben's words, "I don't like to play a game where you sit there and wait for walks" rings in my head now...

That's definitely strange....having the cpu NOT swing is DEFINITELY not one of my problems. I've had several instances to where the cpu won't swing,I've also been able to get outs this way as well...it seems like they'll be expecting something else, and won't swing. I've had called outs due them check swinging as well.

I just moved up to allstar....and put all the cpu's strike throwing sliders to 0 (as mentioned here) and I'm seeing ALOT more variety.
I've got to have better discipline at the plate however....as I'm helping the cpu with the "cheap" strikes.

Since going to allstar...my problem now is hitting. I can't seem to hit a damn thing
People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.

Ya, the sliders are really crazy so far. For example, when I first just left things on default and changed the pitcher sliders I walked 6 times in the game and had the starting pitcher throw 90+ in 7 innings. I didn't touch the AI hitter sliders and threw over 100+ myself. Then I change the AI hitters sliders and all of the sudden the CPU throws nothing but strikes and swings at everything.

These sliders are driving nuts... Just wanted to let you guys know I made a mistake in reference to Infielder Speed Slider. Those Sliders (Human/AI) should be set to 20 not 40. Should allow for more grounder's in the hole to get thru for hits.

Re: BFJ All-Star " Custom Total Control" Sliders

            Fellas,

Here are the sliders I'm using to get realistic pitch counts. I like the rest of your sliders Joe.

            AI Take Strike Overall-40
            AI Take Strike Ahead-60
            AI Take Strike Behind-40

            AI Take Ball Overall-50
            AI Take Ball Ahead-65
            AI Take Ball Behind-40

ALL CPU Throw strike sliders at 0.
            AI Change Speed-60

Again, set the PITCH SPEED to a point where you can tell the pitches that will be way out of the zone. For me it's 40-45, for others it may be 65-70. It's your choice.

The most important factor is that I started using catcher suggestions for everything. I never thought I would do that, but I am having amazing results. If the catcher calls for a pitch in the same spot 3 times in a row, throw it. If the catcher calls for a pitch out of the zone with a three ball count, throw it. I GUARANTEE you, you will be surprised by the results.

I've tried this with Total Control pitching and Classic pitching and pinpoint location. With Classic pitching the catcher suggestions show up in blue if he wants a ball and red to throw a strike. Surprisingly, the catcher asks for a pitch out of the zone about 70% of the time, even with 3 ball counts.

            My last two games:

Cole Hamels (me) vs. Mets- 8IP-105 Pitches-8K's-3W
            Pedro vs. Phillies-6IP-80 Pitches-13K's-3W 59 Strikes 21 Balls
            J. Westbrook(me) vs. Tigers- 8IP-92 Pitches-5K's-2W-59 strikes 33 Balls
            D. Willis vs. Indians- 7IP-80 Pitches-5K's-2W-53 Strikes 27 Balls

Joe, I haven't tried these yet but I am little concerned. Are the pitching sliders not sensitve enough? Do they not throw enough balls even with all the sliders at zero?

              Thanks anyway.

Im on legend and with throw strikes at 0 Ive seen plenty of balls...LOL didnt sound right. johan even threw wild pitches, some balls even hit the dirt.....as for steals even with pitch speed at 50 there are still no steals, maybe maxing out steal 2base and steal aggr should do the trick

If he truly said that (he probably did, I just didn't see it as I try to steer clear pre-release due to all the crap in the forums), then F*** him. Sure he's the lead on the game, but there are thousands of us who will play it who just might like balls... I mean walks.

LOL...ya, he said that in an interview a few weeks ago. The interviewer commented on the amount of strikes thrown by the CPU and Ben said, "Ya, I am not one of those guys who likes to sit around waiting to get a walk or pitch to hit." I didn't think much of it because I figured like last year, I could adjust the sliders and make the CPU throw balls. So far it's hit or miss...

This game does play well out of the box. It is amazing how all last year we searched for perfect sliders, and we might have the perfect sliders by the end of the weekend. That is my goal; I'm going to play the hell out of it this weekend, and find good sliders! That way, it'll be one less thing to worry about and I'll be able to enjoy the game!

I used these last night to play a game, and I really like them. The only thing I'll tweak is the infielder speed.

I think the pitching sliders are great, as I drew about 4-5 walks last night. You just have to be patient, just like in baseball.

Good sliders. I would add i think infielder reaction needs to go up a bit. My guys really didnt break much on the ball and let a ton of rollers up the middle. I am going to experiment more but so far....pretty good.

Just played my first game using these sliders. Played an overall good game, stomped on the Mariners. Used classic hitting, BTW.

                              Red Sox 13-14-0
                              Mariners 8-14-2

                              Tim Wakefield - 5.0 IP, 6 ER, 11 Hits
Miguel Batista- 2.2 IP, 7 ER, 6 Hits

I hit homeruns with Papi, Manny, Lowell, Drew, and Tek. Which totaled out to 6 home runs hit by me, none by them. I'm going to drop power down to 25 for human. CPU seemed fine, finally had a challenge pitching. Another thing I wanted to add, I walked 4 times and the Mariners threw 130 pitches! Very rewarding seeing that. I really like the hit variety, hit a lot of doubles in the gap which all looked really realistic.

Great start with the sliders! I'm going to adjust a few things around but overall it really set a base for me to work on.
