Off the top of my head I had 3 doubles, they had 2. I had 3 singles I believe, and I think they had 4 or so, not really sure. They had one triple but it was a play at the plate from center so he got it pretty easily.

Plus, very often he will call for a ball (blue) while the his is right in the middle of the plate ...

I am nowhere near the stats you have
Sorry you're not seeing the same thing. When he's calling for a ball do you throw it or override him? You have to throw the pitch to the location he wants.

You're right occasionally he'll call for a ball but set up in the zone. I throw to the closest point to the glove out of the zone.

My last couple of games I used Total Control pitching with BFJ's settings and it works great.

BFJ thanks for the sliders. I have 2 questions for whoever might be able to answer them. 1) why have HUMAN and AI batting skill at 100? 2) Are you noticing higher pitch counts with all the AI pitching sliders at 0?? Thanks alot.

The Skill Slider affects the variety of hits hence why 100. To your 2nd question walks for me are far & between. I may get 1 or 2. Like I've said before it really looks like the Sliders are also tied into the Ratings System. Especially AI Pitching Sliders

              1. With human skill at 100 the quality of your hits are much better. Before using these sliders I used 50 skill, and would always get weak grounders, popups in the infield, but now I'm getting more line drives in the gaps, and line drive basehits up the middle. Gives a much better hit variety, IMO.

              2. As far as I'm concerned, yes, the pitch count will go up. As long as you're somewhat patient at the plate, the computer WILL throw balls.

Just played another game, Red Sox at Yankees, Beckett vs Wang. I won 4-2. You could really tell the difference between the aces and the four starters. I didn't hit any home runs but they had 2 solo shots by A-Rod and Cano. Jacoby Ellsbury had a 2 RBI triple that opened up the game and pretty much sealed it for me. Beckett went 8 strong and struck out 6, giving up 1 earned run.

Re: BFJ All-Star " Custom Total Control" Sliders

The First Game I played with these sliders was high scoring. I won 13-5 I hit 6 HR's as a team with the tigers. I had 17 hits. I had to turn the Human skill down to 75, and the next game wasn't a slugfest.

I won 4-2 the second game. I threw 7 innings with Verlander. Giving up 4 hits and only 1 run and K'd 9 batters. The Pitch count of me was extremly realistic. I threw 106 pitches through 7 innings. The CPU had very good at-bats against me. I think the AI batting sliders are perfect. I still think the Human sliders need some more adjusting.

Agree on the ratings portion. Even these sliders aren't cutting it against top shelf AI pitchers. They still just nail the corners with incredible accuracy and rarely throw balls. What we need are tendency sliders, like the basketball games have.

They are looking very good for average pitchers though. They throw about 2/3 - 3/4 strikes, most of the time, which I think is getting us close to normal. Right now I'm more worried about ball to strike ratio than walks. If you don't know, you can hit left on the dpad and scroll through his stats, one of which will be his balls and strikes totals.

On Pro, you have the opposite problem. If you put the pitching sliders to 0, average pitchers bounce everything to you. It may be one of those games where we have to drop a skill level, and then adjust to make it harder.

Or adjust a bunch of ratings, which is the last thing I usually want to do.

Also, I don't know about this human batting skill this high. I'm not really getting a lot more hit variety, I'm just getting a lot more homeruns when I step into a good pitch, and outside of being able to time the step, I'm not that good of a hitter. Mines not even at a full 100, probably 92 or so.

The only way I'm getting hit variety is by artificially forcing it with the hit stick, and even then I wouldn't say it's much for variety. I haven't seen much for choppers or the like. Lots of line drives (especially right back at the non fielding pitchers), weak grounders right to players, an an occasional one down the line........but those only when I force the stick to the left or right.

I don't think this game is as bad as many would claim, but I do think it is one of those sports games that needs a lot of slider work to play right.

Just had a great game with these settings

                      Colorado 4-8-1 (8 k's, 3 walks)
                      D-Backs 2-10-1 (6 k's, 3 walks)

The game ended on a grounder to first with the bases loaded.

Re: BFJ All-Star " Custom Total Control" Sliders

Okay, I set everything to default Pro except for the AI throw strike sliders at 0 and played Mets @ Phillies. I was Cole Hamels and went 9 innings, throwing 111 pitches with 8 K's and 1 BB. The CPU was much more patient at the plate and it was actually enjoyable not having them swing at EVERYTHING. The CPU pitching was still an issue. Pedro threw 76 pitches in 7 2/3, but he had 62 strikes and 15 balls. WAY too few. Here are what I'm seeing as factors in the lack of CPU balls besides the sliders just not working:

                        1) It is still really hard to tell a ball from a strike.

                        2) The umpires are so inconsistent. One pitch that looks in the dirt is called a ball, and the next pitch is in the same spot called a strike. It makes you hack at anything close, which almost everything is.

If I could get the CPU pitcher figured out, I'd be thrilled. The game plays great on default Pro for me. I lost the game 3-1 in 10 innings with the Mets having 8 hits (4 singles, 3 doubles, 1 triple) including Delgado ripping a two out double off the right center field wall with Beltran on first in the top of the 10th. Watching Beltran race around and slide just ahead of the relay throw was pretty cool.

                          Just finished another game :

                          Colorado 8-12-1 (2 k's, 4 walks)
                          D-Backs (me) 2-11-1 (6 k's, 4 walks)

                          Colorado : 142 pitches, 83 strikes, 59 balls (58% strikes)
                          D-Backs : 117 pitches, 66 strikes, 51 balls (56% strikes)

These settings are working great for me.

The only thing I still have'nt seen, is a stolen base by the CPU.

Yep. I think that's problem number 1, and problem number 2 is the fact most borderline pitches are strikes. Occasionally (rarely), you get a pitch that just nips a part of the plate called a ball, but it is far more common to get the Greg Maddux strike zone.

I'm afraid until those two things are fixed, we can never resolve this. I hope that isn't the case, but even when I'm getting decent numbers with subpar pitchers, they are still just nailing the black pitch after pitch. You get an occasional total miss in the middle, and they may throw a meatball every now and again, but nearly everything is right on the black in this game.
