I'm guessing these throw strike sliders need to be somewhere around 15 for best results.

Now the pitcher difficulty slider? I had that at 75 and no good at all. However I also saw Beckett when I had it that high and he threw 2 wild pitches in the first inning alone!

I think there's enough dynamic AI in this that we'll eventually find "good enough", then play about 10-15 games of a dynasty to compile some stats, THEN tweak sliders.

That's what I'm gonna do next.
Jistic I just noticed that the Pitcher Difficulty has some direct effect on the setting of the other sliders. Specifically Hitting. The lower you drop the PD Slider, the lower you have to drop the Human Power Slider. There seems to be a direct relationship between the 2 sliders.

lso as long s both those sliders are fine, you then can adjust the Fielder Sliders to anyway you like. WEIRD..

BTW when you say PD Slider @ 75 was bad does that mean it needs to be higher or lower?

I think it needs to be lower, because it almost seems to create an artifical accuracy for top pitchers. It's like if you're an ace, you'll never walk anyone.

Now I'm sure that's not the case, but that's what it felt like. I'm gonna keep it at like 50-55 for now and play a mess of games.

Jistic I think your really on to something here. I'm playing a game in Custom Legend. I had Pitcher Difficulty @ 85. I lowered it to 50 also having to lower all the Human Batting Sliders so everything would stay Legend & sure enough Peavy walks the 1st batter after the change & also begins to try to nibble on the corners.

        Good Job.

The first things I did when I got the game today, were:

Put it on Legend(from the main menu)

Lowered the A.I throw strike overall slider to 0(I didn't mess with any other A.I pitching sliders)

Maxed out foul ball slider for both human & A.I

Played a game, Angels vs Mariners...Jarrod Washburn walked me about 3 times(even threw a few balls in the dirt). He sometimes threw me 3 balls in a row, but he would also pound the strike zone at times too.

I think I'll start tweaking some more sliders right now.Infielder speed and reaction need to be reduced in my opinion.

Power needs to be toned down as well.
Hey Joe...based on yours and Jistics findings, mixed in with what HK mentioned, does it seem like starting from legend would be the way to go? If so....would you then keep it in legend,or get the settings correct, and not worry about if it's legend or allstar.

          I hope that made sense.......

Re: BFJ All-Star " Custom Total Control" Sliders

I put the sliders at default Pro tonight, set the AI take pitch at what Joe has and set all of the AI throw strikes at 0, set AI skill and contact at 0, and had two fantastic games. For the first time both me and the CPU had great pitch counts and walks.

First game was Yankees @ Rangers (me). Yanks won 14-6, but between the two teams there were 292 pitches thrown and 10 walks. Gabbard(me) was at 70 pitches after 4 innings and Pettitte was at 64.

Next game was Braves(me) @ Reds. There were 275 pitches thrown between the two teams and 9 walks total (5 for me and 4 for the CPU). I actually won 9-5 (my first win so far).

Both games were just fantastic though and had a lot of different things going on. In the Yankee game, the CPU made 3 errors (including a dropped foul fly by Abreu down the RF line and Arod booting a ball and then airmailing it). In the second game the Reds tried to score a runner from 1st on a 2-out gapper and I hit the relay man and made a perfect throw to the plate and dove as he slid to nail him. I also had a couple of at bats where I was down 0-2, fouled off 4 or 5 pitches to work it to 3-2 and either drew a walk or put it in play.

The only thing I'm not seeing is CPU SB attempts (I've only seen one so far and I nailed 'em). Other than that, I'm loving this game right now that the pitcher/batter interaction is fixed.

This sounds encouraging. I have a question for ya though.
When you changed the AI sliders (skill & contact),did the tab in the upper right change to "custom R" for rookie?

I know you said that you started on default pro,but what I'm thinking (may be wrong) is by adjusting those 2 sliders,it may have switched from custom (p)ro to custom (r)ookie.

Did you happen to see if that was the case? or did it remain custom(p)ro?

Nope...I kept checking and it stayed at Custom-P. I am really excited about the way the game played tonight. Really was nice. I was able to strike out the CPU, but they also had offense. I wasn't striking out nearly as much as I had been. It was a nice change.

Joe, played a game last night with your new updated sliders and I must say it was intense all the was thru. Here is a few numbers: I think they are pretty realistic:
                        Code:
                                              1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E
                                              - - - - - - - - - - - -
                         Kansas City Royals 1 0 0 0 0 1 1 0 0 3 5 0
                         Detroit Tigers 1 0 2 0 1 0 1 0 5 7 1
                        Code:
Kansas City Royals IP H R ER BB SO ERA
                         Meche(L 0-1) 4.1 5 4 4 3 2 8.31
                         Bale 2.1 2 1 1 2 0 3.86
                         Peralta 1.1 0 0 0 0 0 0.00

Detroit Tigers IP H R ER BB SO ERA
                         Verlander(W 1-0) 7.0 5 3 3 0 5 3.86
                         Rodney 1.0 0 0 0 0 0 0.00
                         Jones(S 1) 1.0 0 0 0 0 1 0.00
Verlander threw 72 Pitches, 51 for Strikes
Meche threw 67 pitches 40 for strikes. He walked three in the first but settled down after, just like pitches do in real life.
I think I am set, might bump the Outfielder Speed down though a couple notches but other than that everything feels good!

I may have to check this out. Sounds real good. I'm loving this game with the exception of the cpu not throwing enough balls. Hopefully this will work for me as well.
Oh yea....did you happen to mess with the "pitcher difficulty" slider? I guess Jistic mentioned something about this, and the probability of this affecting the cpu throwing more balls as well.

I agree with the cpu not stealing also. I've cranked that slider clear up,and no matter what, they will not steal. I'm thinking about turning up base running aggression, and see what happens.
Although my thought is this will only come into play when the cpu gets a hit.
Oh well....thanks for the heads up about pro...It's very much appreciated
