Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory
Might have to tweak the total control pitching on mine... Just gave up three homers in the first inning to Oakland with Paul Byrd.Comment

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory
Total Control Pitching - I had it at 40 and was still doing too well with most of my pitchers ranked in the 80's, so I raised it to 60 and NOW you REALLY have to think about pitching. You can't just throw every pitch the catcher is calling or you WILL get smoked, trust me. 60 seems good for this.
I raised it to 60 last night, but didn't notice a difference.I just dominated the A.I... I hung some pitches too, and they couldn't do anything with em'.
I just played a game against the Indians with the Total Controll Pitching slider at 70, and noticed a big difference.
They hit 3 singles,1 double,2 triples, & 2 home runs(Johnny Peralta hit a walk off home run in the 9th off of Scot Shields, I hung a slider and he made me pay!)
Final score 4-3.
Even though I liked what I saw during this game, I'm going to move the slider bar up a bit...75 or 80 should be perfect.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the A.I has attempted to steal on me twice in my last two games! Both times I was caught completely off guard, but still managed to throw them out!Last edited by HK-47; 03-12-2008, 06:40 PM.Comment

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory
Ok I am confused. I'm sure I read it correctly but I am suppose to go to legend, then start off there moving the sliders left and right correct when I reset them? Because when I reset them if that's what I was suppose to do then move the sliders according to whether -5 clicks or +5, I've had like 2 where I couldn't do the number at all because there was no room left.Comment

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory
Just played with this set and got rocked haha. I might turn down the total control pitching some...
I gave up 7 doubles... 2 triples... and 4 bombs... Byrd was getting rocked early... ended up losing 12-3... I still got 8 hits and two homers...
Any suggestions on the computer offensive surge?Comment

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory
After a little more tinkering, I've made two more changes:
1. Step Influence - back to 0, with 25, not seeing enough offense by myself.
2. Total Control Pitching - I initially said to raise it to 60, however, after a few games, it needs to go up further, perhaps 70.Comment

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory
I just got done playing a game with total controll difficulty at 75, and I struck out 16 batters.(I was the Rockies and played against the Angels)
I'm gonna raise cpu skill by 10 clicks and total controll pitching to 80.Last edited by HK-47; 03-12-2008, 08:05 PM.Comment

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory
yo hk (and the rest of you guys) try turning the strike zone OFF. imo, it makes it a little harder to locate when you dont see the box after each pitch, especially since stances (and therefore the zone) can vary. also, i think it makes batting better as you are focusing on just the pitch and not the strike zone. recognizing balls is easier it seems.Comment

This is a good sign because last night I had a 2-1 pitcher's duel. The problem I had in this game was striking out 13 Cardinal batters, despite using an array of Cubs relievers due to Zambrano's 1st inning ejection. As you can see from the stats, when they hit the ball, they hit it hard. I'm fine with that because my pitching was sloppy throughout the game.
I'd like to get the computer to make more contact without their scoring/hits getting out of whack. I have their skill/power/contact at 10/40/50. I definitely don't want to mess with the power, as they had a nice array of hits between soft grounders through the hole, lined singles, bombed homers, and gap doubles. Do I raise skill a bit, or raise contact? I'm afraid that raising skill will increase hits too much and almost force me to strike them out to get an out. Has anyone tried raising contact to 60 or so?Comment
