Re: DanSF49's Bad Back Opening Day Sliders

Okay I just tried out the settings I posted above. The CPU can hit with Skill at 25 and also they hit alot less gappers but when I had it at 25-45-15, they murdered everything. The cubs put up 6 runs in the first with no one out and had 2 HRs. So Power has to stay lower much lower like back to 0 or maybe 5. I tried the same game again but with Skill at 25, Contact at 35 and Power at 0, same settings I was using but with skill at 25. I liked what I saw with this they had 1 run on 5 hits but the problem was I struck out 6 in 4 innings with Figueroa of the Mets. They were missing pitches badly. So I'm thinking I may just leave Skill at 25, bump up the contact slightly to 40 or 45 and have power at 0 or 5. I'm going to test more tonight and let you guys know.

I'm going to stick with what I'm using right now, with a few tweaks. I think as far as the AI is concerned they are pretty close to supplying a balance of hits vs the user's pitching skill. I'll play out my 5 game set and see what the stats show and then consider changes from there. Possibly lowering the AI skill to 40-45 and setting the power somewhere between 1-5 might be a good compromise; I'm still not seeing enough AI HR's but too many 2b and 3b. If I could convert just one of those extra base hits into a HR a game it would balance things out pretty nicely.

I'll play out my games and post the stats later tonight after the hockey game.

Re: DanSF49's Bad Back Opening Day Sliders

I only played one game trying Dan's new settings. The only differences is that I have TPC at 65 and pitcher difficulty at 60. I might up TPC now that I know how to pitch better.

        Human- Skill 25, Contact 45, Power 30
        AI- Skill 25 Contact 40 Power 0

Keep in mind that after reading Dan's recent post, I was wondering why I was giving up so many HR's. I discovered that Morgan would say that I pitched a FB, when, I knew I was trying to pitch a curve. After discovering to start the second motion when the circle reaches the outer edges, I started to pitch better in the tutorial.

        Brewers at Reds.
        Sheets vs Harang

The first inning, Sheets was down into the 70's in fatigue. 3 hits, 1 run and the bases left loaded. The bases were loaded with one out and Sheets struck out the next two.

The Brewers came up in the second inning and it was a thing of beauty. Hall is on first and I put a hit n run on the first pitch with Corey Hart. First pitch, bam, over the LF wall, Brewers up 2-1.

        Brewers won 5-2.

Harang was finished after 4 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits. The Brewers were leading 3-2, so, I found it surprising that the AI took out Harang after 4 innings.

The Brewers had 5 runs on 12 hits. 9 singles, 2 doubles(both by Hall) and 1 HR.

The Reds had 2 runs, 7 hits, with 5 singles, 1 double and 1 HR by Griffey.

Sheets was finished after 5 innings, however he had a rough 1st inning.

Struck out 8 in 5 innings.

        Both sides threw 104 pitches.

I know it's a small sample size, but I like what I see.

I use swingstick and total control pitching. Fielding camera is Pole, Batting camera is Wide with the zoom at 15 clicks from the left.

                    Dan:

I tried your new sliders for only 1 game. I made some adjustments from there.

I was Brewers vs Red Sox.

The first thing I noticed is that the Brewers committed three errors in the outfield trying to pick up the ball. Also, I noticed an outfielders reaction time was very slow on a sinking liner.

Also, I couldn't hit Becket with the new hitting sliders if my life depended on it. I k'd a lot.

So, I lowered OF errors back to default, increased INF Reaction speed to 15 and switched the hitting sliders back to where they were.

I found these adjustments to suit me just fine. Others mileage may vary.

                      Roadman,

IF Reaction is set at 25, so why did you say you increased it to 15?? What did you have it set at before??

                        My mistake.

I didn't increase IF Reaction Time, I left that alone.

I increased OF reaction time from 0 to 15.

                        Sorry about that.
