I lowered it back down because I felt I had an advantage on the CPU when balls were hit into the gap, I felt that I could get triples way to often when the play should have only resulted in a double. If you are having trouble stealing, are you using the double tap of the Y button to steal or just a single tap??

By the way thanks for the post with the adjustments from my last set.

Re: DanSF49's Bad Back Opening Day Sliders

I am confused on the double tap. I heard this once before. Let me explain what I do in detail.

Right when the pitcher gets the ball back from the catcher and settles in, I take a 3 step lead. I then immediately hit up towards 2nd with the left thumbstick, and the Y button. then once the pitcher starts his motion, my player takes off. I don't think that I have to wait for him to pitch before I hit Y because runners take off pretty fast as it is. I tested this. I watched my runner on 2nd and the first instant that the pitcher moved to go into his windup, the runner took off. So I don't believe you have to wait to hit the Y button. Let alone tap it twice. But in the end, I would like to hear about it, as It actually may help. Which would be nice because I suck at stealing as well. I have yet to get a steal with someone less than 88 speed. I have attempted about 20 or so and I got a big ZERO( spelling pun intended(I know stupid)). But I am 100% with runners above 88 speed and a good steal rating. I tested this as well. I took a runner and gave him 88 speed. But was still only getting steals half or less of the time. I then went and up his steal rating, not speed, just the steal rating and a bit of acceleration and then I was knocking them out. The acceleration I am sure is what did it. I don't know if a players steal rating is how ofter they steal, or the success. Also, all my attempts were on different catchers. Some with B ratings, some with A(ivan Rod), and a few with C. all results were similar. Although the lower ones I was more successful with my faster runner. Seemed I stole with ease.

So I came to the realization that the only time I will get a steal from the likes of Alex Gordon (78 spd. he had around 14-15 steals last year), will be when I have someone on 2nd and do a double steal. and of course that will result in 1 out.

So please, if I could get some help as well, I would love to be proven wrong on the double tap thing.

I don't think you are. I've been using both the regular method and double tapping Y and haven't seen any difference between the two as far as the runner getting a better jump. I've even gone so far as to go back and watch replays of the steal and not noticed a difference.

        Could be wrong?

in my opinion the game was a lot more like a real game with the baserunner speed higher!! then there were infield single and stuff like that i dk ill have to try these out but i might just have to put baserunner speed up anyways and see what results i get

This is what I mean, when you have a runner on and you take your lead if you push up say to steal second and then double tap the Y button. Your runner will take off as soon as the pitcher makes his first move. It doesnt matter whether its to the plate or to throw over to first, your runner will try to steal as soon as the pitcher moves. This is how I steal all the time, but you have to be careful because if his first move is to first you are a dead and will get picked off trying to steal second. You can see that you have activated the immediate steal because if you look at the top of the screen on the score bar, it will show you whatever base your runner is on and it will be flashing red telling you that he is going to steal. Believe me there is a difference between this and the single tap of the Y button.

Sweet. Can't wait to try it tonight. If I get a chance anyways. I won't attempt a steal with Alex Gordon on a great Catcher. I think I play the Angels tonight. Not sure who they start, but I imagine that Napoli or Mathis will have an avg arm, not too great, so I could probably pull one off on them. Thanks for the info.

I've tried single tapping and double tapping and it does make a difference, but not a huge one. Even if the catcher's throw is horribly off, I am dead to rights normally. Ah, well. Just keep plugging away at it, I guess. It doesn't help that I'm the Braves, and the only two players last year with double digit steals are playing elsewhere now.

These work awesome by the way. Nice balance. My first game, with John Smoltz against the Nats, I lost 10-4. Smoltz went 5, gave up 5 runs. I didn't really have any control. Then brought in Chris Resop and he gave up 5 runs in 2/3 of an inning. But then Ohman, Acosta, and Moylan came in combined for 3.1 innings, 3 hits, 2 walks, and 3 k's. And 0 runs. I ended up losing by 6. In my second game, at AAA, with Chuck James I went 8 innings, struck out 8, gave up 2 runs. Then Blane Boyer came in in the ninth and gave up 2 more, and I lost 4-1. Good games though.

In the first game, I think the Nats hit a homer, and I hit a solo shot in the ninth with Francouer. There were none in the minor league game.

Sounds about perfect, let me know if the HRs stay realistic or not.

Played another game. It was close. I hit solo homer in the 4th with Tex, then a 3 run shot with Francouer in the 7th to take a 4-2 lead. Then Austin Kearns hit a two run homer in the eighth to tie it. Then in the eleventh, I hit a game winning solo shot with Chipper. Overall, between both teams, 5 homers in 3 games.

i must give it to dan these are a damn good sliders to base off of but im having a little trouble with triples, i played the giants and it seemed everything was hit into the gaps a lot and i think there were 6 or 7 triples in 2 games

btw i was d backs vs giants
